We arrived, a group of twelve, which has been a problem in most restaurants. We were immediately seated and proceeded to be extremely well cared for with delicious food, drinks and attentive service. We even got to meet the chef who had created our incredible…meals. Out of way but worth the search. One of the best I’ve been in. Period. Thank you.More
Was amazed by the quality of the food and service. A real gem! Very cute intimate setting and when we dined they had live music that was very good which enhanced the experience
We had visited Barrio bistro twice before and were looking forward to celebrating my birthday – the service was poor – it was clear we were not important guests- the food was only fair. We had loved it is the past but it felt the…passion was gone – sad to say!More
We had a great dinner at Barrio Bistro. We each had a cuitlacoche soup to start and followed with a shrimp in chipotle and a pork shank. Each dish was great! The soup was a bit heavy (meaning we probably should have shared an order),…so we didn’t do the entrees justice. Each dish had great (and diverse) flavor. The service was attentive and friendly. The night we were there, there was a guitarist/singer performing. The restaurant has a dedicated bartender and some interesting cocktails (riffs on the local favorites). We were there on the late side. At the end of the evening, the chef did a pass through the restaurant and checked that everyone was happy. We certainly were! Go if you are in the area.More
Went wi th friends. Absolutely no ambiance but ten you cannot eat ambiance. I had a pork shank cooked in a raicilla sauce. A crazy combo that really worked.
From the extra little appetizer at the beginning to the appetizer we ordered to four amazing main courses to intense dessert, each dish displayed attention to flavor detail. The service was attentive and the restaurant decor was playful. The specialty cocktails made great accompaniments.
Memo Wulff was in the kitchen, at the bar, and greeting the guests at every table. This restaurant is clearly a work of passion for him, and it’s work he takes seriously. The environment (with artwork by a family member) is lovely; every member of…the staff is attentive; the menu concept is strong; quality ingredients are perfectly prepared; and every dish is presented with such delightful elegance… I’m sure the food tastes even better because of it! And the cocktails—mmm hmm. I stopped after two but there wasn’t a single drink on the bar card I didn’t want to try. Barrio Bistro is a wonderful restaurant, worth many repeat visits.More
We were excited to try Barrio Bistro. I had the chicken with the peanut sauce and my partner had the pork shank. I thought the chicken was very good. The pork shank was flavorless and the corn that came with it was horrible. The cocktail…my partner had was very good. Never the less, there are too many good restaurants in PV to try this again.More
Amazing experience with delicious food in an up and coming neighborhood! The menu is incredibly local and you can tell the chef has put his soul into the food. I am gluten free and they were fully able to accommodate my needs. They also spoke…excellent English and put up with my admittedly broken Spanish. A must-do when in Puerto Vallarta!!More
Ate at the Barrio Bistro last night and had some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, all backed up with great service. If you get the chance it’s well worth a visit.
Versalles is an up and coming neighborhood with restaurants and bars opening all the time. The original was Barrio Bistro, the first in the area. The food is complex, inventive Mexican and delicious. It’s true to it’s flavors but elevated using different techniques and surprise…ingredients. Wonderful craft cocktails made with the up and coming local Raicilla. Service is attentive, professional, and friendly. Chef Memo is an engaging personality and loves to wander the restaurant chatting with the diners. Barrio Bistro is a special restaurant and well worth a visit.More
This is simply one of the best places for a special evening! Memo Wulff and his staff deliver an authentic local and personal experience – both for soul and palate! I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed! Chef Memo offers up simple…yet tantalizing tastebud creations that are just… decadent!! After ordering, a complementary yet delicious tuna filled appetizer showed up. Heart of palm salad was then followed by parrot fish. I have a soft spot for good roast veg and risotto so we also ordered a side of roast vegetables and saffron risotto! Memo also offers up a unique raicilla and tequila cocktail menu. Barrio Bistro is on my short must-go-to list of PVR restaurants. Highly recommended!More
This is one of the top places in Versalles neighborhood. This time our host was Renè. He was attentive, suggested us with professionalism and was really cheerful. Our dinner was a “seafood feast”. What I like about Barrio Bistro is that they are always changing…the menu, which doesn’t show too many options, only few. That means chef Memo works with seasonal ingredients and means also no food waste. Cozy, delicious, memorable.More
Limited and delicious menu; fresh, local ingredients; and wonderful service. Chef Memo combined flavors that were unlike anything else I’d ever had. Our rental was juts a couple of blocks away so we visited Barrio Bistro more than once. We’ll definitely be coming back next…time we’re in PV!More
The best Mexican restaurant ever!! Chef was very friendly and absolutely talented. The staff were on top of things, worked together as a team. The ambiance was so inviting. Please eat here at least once in your life time
