Name has been changed, food still good but service more disorganized than poor. I didn’t get a glass of water until ready to leave, my omelet took an inordinate time to arrive and it wasn’t what I’d asked for. I sure didn’t send it back…or I might still be there. As long as I’m nitpicking the shrimp in the omelet were overcooked and rubbery. The buffet seemed to have less options too. This is a no return for me.More

Sunday Brunch at Taste was much less than expected. The buffet offered roast beef that was definitely served a day or two before, and dried out by Sunday morning. The pork ribs looked wonderful, but they were hard and obviously leftovers from the dinner menu…days before. The pancakes were the only saving grace of the buffet. And, you had to ask for the maple syrup. Not explained to us when we sat down on arrival, eggs are ordered separately. So, by the time our egg orders arrived, we had already finished food from the buffet. The eggs were now an unnecssary afterthought. For dessert, I had a bland slice of key lime pie – how do you make key lime pie bland? Overall, there are so many better and less expensive places to enjoy a great breakfast in PV, so there is no reason to come here. We will not return!More

We had several excellent meals at Casa Cupula. Two of the best were on the rooftop, including a private dinner for my partner’s birthday and a chef’s tasting dinner. Juan was an attentive and kind server, and he worked hard to make our meals elegant,…fun, and smooth. Chef Cesar is a fantastic cook, and everything was outstanding. Jesus assisted with the bar and serving. Highly recommend!!More

Last night we had the ‘dining under the stars’ experience where chef Elvira and her team came to our suite and prepared an outstanding 5 course meal with paired wines. We arrived back from the beach to a beautifully laid out table on our balcony,…including candles and lanterns, with a bucket of wine on ice. We’ve been lucky enough to have some incredible dining experiences all over the world and this was nothing short of perfection. Each course was beautifully and creatively presented and even more delightful to eat – you can tell she’s worked in a three-star Michelin restaurant! Not only this, but the service we received was second-to-none with chef Elvira personally serving each of the courses. This really was the most special way to end our honeymoon and will be something we talk about for many years to come. Thank you to chef Elvira, her sous-chef Caesar, and Juan our server for an amazing experience. We cannot recommend this enough and hope to return!More

We had the “Dinner Under the Stars” on the balcony of our suite overlooking the ocean and we could not have been more pleased. Chef Elvira and her team were fantastic. Imagine an outdoor table with a tablecloth with roses and lanterns watching the sunset…over Banderas Bay…now add in a 5 course FANTASTIC meal. It was truly amazing. We started with the most wonderful tortilla soup followed with mahi mahi a la Veracruz which was delicious and presented so creatively on a piece of slate stone. Next up was a 3 cheese portabello rissoto that was decadent. Honestly, I was getting full at this point, but it was so good, I slowed down and found room. The final main course were giant langostinos cooked to perfection–tender and juicy and not overcooked and rubbery like so many chefs do. We finished with a delicious flan for dessert. To top all of this off, the chef brought the mixologist with her and we had a drink that matched each course of the meal–Thanks bartender Jesus. Not only was the meal delicious, each course was presented beautifully. The creativity of the presentation was definitely pleasing and added to the effect. I really cannot say enough positive things about this experience. Taste restaurant made my 40th birthday dinner a truly special and amazing event. I would highly recommend you spend an evening with the talents of Chef Elvira at Taste Restaurant or with the Dinner under the Stars event in your suite.More

After finding a special for the Sunday buffet on Foursquares, we decided to drive there and give it a try, we drove almost an hour to get there. As we go in everyone was nice and they told us that they didn’t have as much…food because it’s low season, which I fully understand. Ordered a mimosa which came with the buffet and my husband a virgin bloody cesar. Started inquiring about the special to be told no there is no special. Showed the manager the advertisement, he said that they did not put it there, showed him the date, may16th and still denied. Then asked him how much was the buffet I said 299 is written on the table, he says no that’s a mistake it’s 329 pesos now but will leave for you at 299. We are for from 2/1, anyways asked if they would honor the special, he said no, By then he was starting to get upset, we got up and left, said to me i’m not charging you the bloody cesar but you have to pay the mimosa, told him I wasn’t paying for this small glass and started going up the stairs. He was really rude, started taking a picture of us or a video saying these customers left without paying their breakfast, which is false , we ate nothing and then he told us go eat your little breakfast at 150 pesos for the 2 of you. OMG I was so upset to be treated like this, been living here many years and this never happened to us. Needless to say will never return there. The setting is beautiful, the food looked great but the rest was quite ordinary.More

Sunday brunch was quite a spread with lots of different buffet choices, there were also made to order options available, and…one minosa was included in the price. It was quite popular with guests.More

Taste tried very hard to be very high end and just doesn’t quite make it. As noted in the title it is a really lovely setting, but has ‘visit Mexico’ tourism videos on screens. The food is also very good, but just not the exceptional….Same with the service. They tried, but seemed understaffed and not quite trade mined up to high end dining room standard. I don’t want to discourage anyone from eating there. Just be aware of what to expect – a very good meal in a nice setting.More

15 years! Taste has been there 15 years. My first time today, for brunch. We were greeted in a most personable way both by the host and the owner. Our wait staff was perfectly attentive – not too much and not too little. The seating…area is on a balcony overlooking a sunny, tree-filled little valley in the subtropical forest. There is both a buffet and a menu, all included. We had delicious food, everything fresh, beautifully presented. There was a lot of originality and real creativity. I had marinated smoked salmon on little bagel toasts with a little arugula and balsamic vinegar. Delightful to start me off. There were both eggs to order and also scrambled on the buffet. We could get together, you and me and every TripAdvisor traveler to discuss the different ways scrambled eggs can be made inedible on a buffet. Not these, they were light, curdy, not overcooked and delicious. They may have used cream. They had some delicious looking cooked hearty meaty things but we were going light this morning. There was a lovely personal bowl of ceviche on the buffet, and of course fruits of this glorious country, and preserved fruits. A friend and I had delicious preserved guava. They had big plates and little plates, and we chose to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that. One of us ordered a lovely personal bowl of chilaquiles, with unstinting panela and crema. If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry. Order it and taste it. It’s a low risk venture. It’s a warm green salsa with triangular chips and some really good local cheese crumbled on it and some smooth local cream that everybody loves. You will too. They do a great job. So, if you have read this far you may remember that we were having a light breakfast. Then we noticed the sweet table. Oops. Ok, we only had a chocolate doughnut because they said they made all their pastry in house. It was pretty good. Then they told us to try the vanilla coated doughnut with some lovely sweetness inside it. Very, very good. Yes, we were cutting them up and eating little pieces, but there was a lot of cutting (you know that when you cut them the calories escape). Then we hit the key lime pie. That was a mistake. We took one piece (maybe one-twelfth of the pie) and we cut it in three. It genuinely was an ethereal experience. It took us above the sky. A little was enough. What a fabulous experience. Different. Creative. Relaxing. Enjoyable. The restaurant is in Casa Cupola, a hotel. The location is a bit out of the way but easy to get to. Travel south of old town on the sea side road for about 5 minutes or less. You will see a little Corona beer store on the left (east) side of the road. Turn there and go up the hill. Follow the signs. There was lots of parking in the area.More

Just returned from Taste restaurant at Casa Cupula. We had a light meal, but the food was excellent. We both had half servings of pasta dishes, mine a ravioli, and my friend also a pasta dish with shrimp, along with a starter course. And even…better than the meal was the service. Just incredible. I think our server was Ruben, but many servers checked on our table, making sure we were satisfied. And then the manager, Fernando I believe, took us down to the pool for a gratis after dinner cocktail. Will return quickly upon next visit.More
