El Palomar was recommended to us by our vacation resort concierge. We were a family of 7, and were seated at a beautiful table overlooking the mountainous city and bay. The ambiance of the restaurant was nothing short of fantastic! The entire wait staff were…very attentive to us, providing us recommendations and excellent service throughout the evening. The food was even more amazing – many of us had seafood dishes which were very flavorful, visually appealing, and tasted so fantastic! I ove seared tuna, and this place offered one of the best preparations of seared tuna and spinach vinaigrette salad I have ever had. The best part of the evening was the presentation of the staff making our Spanish coffee deserts! Amazing skills and showmanship by the wait staff as they prepared each coffee individually for us! We STRONGLY recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a very local, authentic, and genuine Puerto Vallarta dining experience!More
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent dining experience this evening in our first visit to this wonderful restaurant. I will begin with thanking Victor for an awesome date night with impeccable service and the waiters too! We began our evening with the delicious Ceasar…Salad for two prepared by Alexis who created an outstanding salad. My wife had the Tequila shrimp which was well prepared and the sauce, wow, so tasty. I had the filet which was tender and savory, so so good! As for dessert, my wife had the cheesecake, so yummy and I had the vanilla ice cream which was very good, in fact this is the first time I’ve had it with cinnamon, whew what a great idea, very nice. We did not consume alcohol so I will not address what was offered as we did not inquire. In closing, our evening was everything we had hoped for and more with an awesome view of the bay and city, especially when the lights go on in the city, my city, PV!!!More
We have been staying in the Alta Aguacate area and decided to try a nearby restaurant. El Palomar de Los Gonzalez was an easy walk and had good reviews. Disappointing, limited wine list and over cooked shrimp missed their reputation. Half the wine list was…not available for the evening of our visit. My wife and I ordered different shrimp dishes, Garlic shrimp and Tutankamon shrimp. The garlic sauce was lacking in flavor and the bacon and shrimp for the Tutankamon was over cooked, almost dry. The saving grace was the tamarind dipping sauce. On the plus side, our calamari was good; a nice serving size and , again, tamarind sauce was tasty.More
Been in vallarta for 3 weeks eating shrimp everywhere. This is the best! Remarkably close to the taste and ‘feel’ of high quality lobster. Also seafood pasta to die for. Top notch service and the staff were so accommodating to our two grandsons age seven…and nine. 5 star food and service for 3 star prices. Don’t miss this one.More
We were pleasantly surprised to find this restruant a short walk from where we were staying. We thoroughly enjoyed both the meal and the view, so much that we came back again two days later. BTW my wife said the flan was excellent, as good…as hers!More
Best deal in Puerto Vallarta. Outstanding meals and an outstanding view. Victor makes you feel right at home.
We were traveling to Puerto Vallarta and we were going to be there on our 40th anniversary so I was looking for a special place to celebrate. Saw the great reviews of Wl Palomor de los Gonzalez so before we arrived I went online and…booked a reservation, this was done on Nov 8 for our anniversary on Sunday, Nov 27, 2022, I received an email confirming our reservation. We are staying in. Nuevo Vallarta, so last night we took the 40 minute, 310 peso cab ride to the restaurant, arrived in time for our reservation only to find the place locked up, closed! I called the number and someone answered, I asked if they were open and was told No they are closed on Sundays so I asked why I had a confirmed reservation, he didn’t have a response for that. The only upside was because we were stranded there I asked the man on the phone to call for a cab for us, which he did. This might be an amazing place but we will never know. Please make sure your website and online reservation online is updated so future customers will not suffer the same disappointment. Not the way we had planned to celebrate a landmark wedding anniversary.More
Getting there was a bit more challenging if u decide to walk from town. You will need to scale some stairs so have some walking shoes, or take a taxi/Uber. Victor our waiter was amazing. He put us in a perfect spot to view the…City and sunset. The city view was amazing as the sky went dark. Great food and fantastic service.More
My husband and I came for a romantic dinner while in PV. Highly recommend this charming, romantic restaurant in PV. Steve led the way providing excellent service. He was joined by the rest of the staff that all were top notch. Then there was the…food and the amazing out of this world view! We came at sunset. It did not disappoint. We had tuna tar tar for appetizer, sangria and a beer and a shrimp in tequila cream sauce. I wish I could bottle that sauce and recreate. Yummy! The location is in old PV on the top of a hill surrounded by lush greenery and has a charming old school feel. The view can’t be touched. Do yourself a favor and go!More
Beautiful, hacienda-style restaurant in the Romantic zone with beautiful view from the hilltop; delicious food, and Victor with staff are very attentive ! Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant.
My wife and I were staying at a nice all inclusive resort and decided to try a restaurant downtown instead of within the resort. On a recommendation we went to El Palomar. My wife will attest I generally do not rave about food and am…fairly critical at times. With that said, this was some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Salads were very tasteful, Tortilla soup was excellent and spicy per my request, Fagitas we’re phenomenal with shrimp, steak and chicken, the flan and ice-cream desert were wonderful, and the drinks were great. I had a margarita, which Unlike the all inclusive resort was a perfect balance or sweet and tangy. ( I like to hand make margaritas and am very particular ) They made my wife a margarita mocktail as she is pregnant. It was wonderful. For those who dont know.. making a non alcoholic cocktail is one of my tests for a quality restaurant / bar as very few can do so and make a drink that is not just a glass of sugary fruit. The mocktail was actually very delicious. If you are coming to Puerto Vallarta, this is an absolute must stop. Look at my review history, I do not make time to leave reviews generally… so take my word and check this place out.More
I reviewed this restaurant 3 years ago and could not wait to go back on this visit to Puerto Vallarta. Unfortunately, this time our dining experience was very disappointing. It could be that the management has been passed to a younger generation, but the previous…attention to detail was certainly lacking. For example, there was no new cutlery provided between courses, dishes were not all removed before the next course was served, water was not offered and took a few requests before it was delivered. The food was very average and it seemed that there was more emphasis on the “showy” offerings ( ie Caesar salad and bananas flambé) than the main courses. The breaded scallops were giant dough balls which were almost inedible. The grilled fish option had a few small pieces of fish and a dollop of vegetables mixed with rice. Half way through our meal, a young man appeared with a guitar to sing but before he started, he told us each song would cost 100 pesos! We thought that was very inappropriate in a restaurant of this calibre. The best part of our evening was the view out over the city. We will probably not go back again.More
Super fun and authentic restaurant in the “real” PV! Victor is an amazing host and his staff provide a wonderful experience. The Bananas Flambé is a must! Highly recommend this fabulous establishment.
I was very interested to try this place. High up on the hillside with an amazing view. I was surprised how empty it was on the Thursday night we were there. We had fried calamari appetizer and both of us had shrimp dinners. Food was…good, but not outstanding. View is amazing. Friendly staff but they were not very attentive, especially given it was practically empty. Credit cards accepted but signs posted requiring tips in cash. They called cab for us since quite out of the tourist zone. Not sure if I would return, but glad we went once.More
