This place is down by the Sheraton but up a few blocks so you’re not likely to stumble on it. The food and service were both excellent. The coconut shrimp was excellent and so was the guacamole. The crab taquitos were different but had a…great taste. The only complaint was the ceviche was dry but still tasty. Highly recommend this place. First time here after many trips to PV but I’ll be back for sure.More

Great food and service. Mostly seafood, we had shrimp, tuna and octopus. Every dish was very tasty. The wine was a reasonable price. We did have one mistake on the bill, but it was correctly right away. Good lesson to always check the bill carefully…in Mexico. The restaurant offers free Kahlua or tequila after the meal. We will be back.More

This was my second time to El Patron, it’s just under a mile walk from Sunset Plaza. It is a “must visit” for every trip to PV. It looks like nothing special, but the coconut shrimp (for me) and the garlic and butter shrimp (for…another diner in our party) and the Shrimp Patron (wrapped in bacon!!) are absolutely exquisite. The place is always packed, always a good sign. This place isn’t fancy, but the hospitality and friendly service as well as the most delicious coconut shrimp with a house made mango sauce, are the best I’ve ever had. I can’t even tell you what the sides were. I do know I ate very little all day because the portions are big. Many diners had colorful cocktails, but I had a beer to save myself for the shrimp-a-ganza. As an added treat, a tiny house made coffee liqueur and cream as a parting treat. The people couldn’t be nicer – and did I mention the SHRIMP?!?!?!More

Our server James recommended the ceviche special and it was amazing! The tuna was so tender and delicious. Also ordered the shrimp fajitas and shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious. We will be back. It is very near the Sheraton Bougainvillea. We walked from the hotel.

Our server would disappear for long periods of time and no food was brought and no drinks. The environment is ok but nothing else.

Ribeye tacos were the best. They even came with bone marrow! Good service and atmosphere. Excellent Cadillac margarita too.

This small restaurant just up from the Sheraton has amazing seafood. I go for the lobster and my husband goes for the shrimp. The service is always attentive. They close early and do not take reservations, but a “must do” while in PV.

El Patron on Las Americas is the best dining experience in all of Puerto Vallarta. The food, the staff, the ambience. On our latest visit we had a seared tuna dinner special. Plenty to eat and the whole dinner was around $30 for 2, before…tip. We plan on coming back on our cruise in December.More

Food was best we had in pv and service and atmosphere up there too. The sealed fish is a must and the coconut prawns are so far above the typical. Big surprise was marinara pasta which could stand out in any hi end Italian restaurant.

we visited this place as it looked busy and had a good atmosphere. Food menu was limited to basic Mexican food however it came well presented and was decent value for money. Staff were great.

I got takeout from El Patron for the first night my wife and I arrived in PV. We were tired, and our first choice ( 8 Tostados ) had already closed. The grilled red snapper was well prepared, and the portion was generous. My only…caution comes from what I observed of the staff while I waited for my food to be ready. Though everybody wore a mask almost all of them wore them with their nose uncovered. In fact, the only one who was consistently covering their nose properly was the woman cashier. Thee were lots of customers, so there was lots of free breathing in a relatively confined space. There are a few outside tables where greater safety is possible.More

Off the beaten path but worth it! The food is fantastic, had the marlin and crab tostados (wonderful) and the Pastor Ceviche (made with mahi-mahi) and it was perfect. Future me will trek back here on my next trip to Puerto Vallarta.

This was our best meal in PV since 2019! My husband had the bacon shrimp and I had the red pepper cream sauce mahi mahi. Great service, atmosphere (the kitchen and wait staff were having a lot of fun – even singing), and food. We…managed, after a bit of a wait, to slip in without a reservation, but next time, we’ll make sure to reserve a few days in advance.More

Just left there and all I can say is Don’t go. I ordered a Margarita, my wife a Daiquiri and some Calamari. Drinks were good, Calamari decent and then my wife’s Daiquiri glass exploded in her hands. All over the table. Our waiter cleaned it…up but we had to ask him to wipe the sticky table top with a clean cloth. We then asked for a replacement Daiquiri for the broken one. It came back but was so bitter my wife couldn’t drink it. We asked for the bill and of course were charged for everything we ordered. No comp here for the trouble we went through or the drink my wife didn’t have. We paid the bill, no tip and left. DON’T GO!!!More
