I signed up for the cooking class thinking I would learn a few dishes and go home. Chef Julio makes this a day you won’t forget from learning the history of the restaurant, to taking you on a short walk to a local market where…you buy all the fresh ingredients that you will be using for your cooking class. Then you go back to rooftop of the restaurant and start prepping and making all these fabulous dishes & salsas. Then you get to sit down and enjoy the feast you just made. It exceeded my expectations I would recommend this as a must do when in Puerto Vallarta and I would do it again when I come back . Thank you Chef Julio From FayMore

Took my adult children and wife for a cooking class with Chef Julio. My wife and I had done this 3 years ago and loved it. This time was once again exceptional with introduction of new recipes even for the class. The shopping for the…supplies at the nearby open market for fruit, vegetables, meat was a great education selection the vegetables that cook best and other great lessons. Chef Julio takes you thru a number of recipes and engaging all participants in a fast paced fun prep, tasting and the amazing finished meal. Chef Julio is very entertaining and approachable. This is great for families with older or adult children or a couple with recipes you can walk away with and use when you get home.More

Excellent restaurant with delicious food. Everything I had from salad to desert was prepared tableside, and it was fantastic. We sat with a nice view of the street and malecon. Highly recommended!

Service was at times surly and at best indifferent. The guacamole was good. The Caesar salad was ruined by too much soy sauce. (Who puts soy sauce in Caesar Salad?). Chile Rellanos we’re undercooked and the cheese was unmelted. Will not return.

My husband and I joined Chef Julio and a small group of folks for this amazing expereince that we highly recommend. You start by shopping at local markets to slect the foods that will be prepared in class. The class in held in an open…air kitchen on the rooftop of the restaurant. We all learned alot, cooked alot and ate alot. Oh sooo good. Two of my favorites were the Gabys salsa and chicken with chocolate mole sauce. Go you wont regret it!More

The shrimp and beef fajitas were delicious and arrived at our table in record time. Muriel our serve was very nice. Try the tequila Banderas. It is not on the menu but ask for it. It is 3 shots, one of lime juice, tequila and…Sangrita. Sip each shot slowly and in the correct order. Delicious!More

Cooking class with Chef Julio Castillio from Gabys.restaurantbar@gmail.com. This one by far one of the best things I’ve ever done in Puerto vallarta. We went to the market to learn how to buy the ingredients, we created a feast and got to enjoy it. Chef…Julio was informative, fun and inspirational. Thank youMore

This is a cute restaurant, it is situated on several different levels, so if you have a hard time walking up stairs, this will be difficult. The restaurant has great ambiance, and the service was attentive and polite. We were looking for good traditional Mexican…food, and were disappointed in the flavor of the food, it seemed very bland.More

We had dinner here for the first time. It was fantastic. Tableside caesar salad was the best we’ve ever had. Everyone’s meal was perfect! The staff were great.

Obviously the same location and lovely rooftop. Still has great margies. The menu is printed the same – at least as I recall – but what we got this evening isn’t the cuisine of 9 months ago. It has been Disneyfied. OK dinner, pricey for…what we got, but that’s not my issue. If I wanted a middle-American “continental” dinner, inspired by Mexican ideas, I’d go to middle America. I wanted Mexi, which it wasn’t.More

Chef Julio does a great job of teaching how to select the best produce and then cook it into incredibly flavorful and delicious dishes! If you like Mexican cuisine and want to up your own cooking game, I highly recommend this class and the restaurant!…We will certainly be back next time we’re in town. The class had 15 people in it and I think only 3 were first-timers – all the rest had been in class before, which should tell you how great it is.More

We visited this restaurant based on someone’s recommendation and I have to say it was amazing! The food, service and the ambiance were all something to experience. Our server was Jesus and he was the most sweet, patient and accommodating person we have ever met….He took the time to explain everything to us and his English was great. We will definitely go back in the future and add this place to our list of places to visit. ❤️More
