I went to dinner at La Cappella on Jan. 4th with friends. The space is wonderfully appointed in what appears to be a former religious building. The music of the violinists was both entertaining an non-intrusive. The food was spectacular (I had the steak, my…friends had the octopus and red snapper), and the setting overlooking Puerto Vallarta is top notch. Everything about the evening was perfect and I highly recommend anyone wanting to try something a little different to try this fantastic culinary option.More
The strolling violin trio adds to the elegance of the meal. The Italian flavors are authentic and the service is very good. I would have like more chicken and veal choices on the menu for future visits. You can’t see the city more beautiful than…from this venue.More
Louis the singer was very talented and really enjoyed his entertainment. Everyone was so friendly. Food and service was excellent. I would definitely go back and recommend to others.
My husband made reservations for our 51st anniversary and we were both excited for our anniversary on New Year’s Eve here, The cost of the event for us was $500.00 , that including the cheapest bottle of wine , and a 7 course meal. This…would be our last big splurge, since we also spent our 50th across the street at another restaurant and spent $650.00 and stayed their till 1am having a great evening. We left before midnight before the one glass of wine they provided for the toast we didn’t need, and we didn’t need to see the firework show as we could see them for our hotel balcony. Now on the prices of a bottle of wine, the range was In the low $ 50.00’s- $120.00. I was so disappointed in all but one of the courses, ( the quail was ok), even our 12 year old granddaughter could have made a better salad, ( COME ON) . We have gone to this restaurant twice in the past, and found the food good, as Well as the atmosphere and entertainment which were so enjoyable, WHAT HAPPENED? A couple we met at the hotel we were staying went , on January 1 and found the food mediocre as well. I don’t understand, such a find food restaurants and to not keep up to the standards they have met in just one year? I have to say we have been here 3 time now and I’m sorry to say will be our last time. Now for the entertainment, this was so well done, first , in a cloud of smoke entered three mimes painted a bronze, ( what a surprise) one looked like a pirate, after they finish one part of their show, then three violinist, that we’ve heard there before, arrived, they did not disappoint either. Two of the songs they played were Andrea Bocelli’s songs, (which I love and have seen him perform lives) another song they performed was from the Phantom of the opera and i love the the song New York New York, ( there were many other songs plaid and unfortunately I didn’t feel like staying and missed their last set) Last year we even spent the night there, as well as having dinner and breakfast there. I’m still wondering what went wrong this time????. We went out to eat last nigh in another fine dining restaurant that we have gone to 3 times also and enjoyed the food immensely, as well as the service and atmosphere. I’m so sorry to write this negative review about the food, I have written over 649 reviews and this will be my 650 review and I’ve only written a hand full of negative reviews, but to say I was surprised, and disappointed in the food was an understatement.More
We were torn between La Cappella and another spot for Christmas dinner, and so went to brunch in order to get in both places over our vacation. It was the perfect solution! The views and setting are everything that others write about. From the balcony…view, we saw humpback whales breaching, and the breathtaking cityscape below. The bottomless food and drink were unexpected and phenomenal. The singing – host Louis, and local singer Diana Villanueva – was a lovely, if a bit hokey, backdrop. We enjoyed every minute, and the service was fantastic on top of it all. Would love to go again one day!More
We made and confirmed a reservation via OpenTable for December 26. My husband even physically stopped by the restaurant the day before to make sure they knew it was my birthday. But when we arrived on time for our reservation, the snotty man at the…front desk said there was no reservation, and strongly implied that we were trying to get a table under false pretenses. He challenged me, saying, “Where is your confirmation? Have you ever eaten here before?” We live on the same street and have eaten there many times, but never met this rude man before. I left to return to my apartment for my cellphone to prove to him I had a confirmation, but the other people in my party called me back, saying the front desk had found the reservation. The hostess working with Mr. Rude had accidentally seated another party under our reservation! They said a perfunctory and insincere “I’m sorry,” no actual contrition that they had treated a regular customer like some imposter trying to eat at their precious restaurant under false pretenses. When they seated us, two of our favorite waiters came over to greet us, as did the three violinists, whom we know well. That helped me feel better. But I’m appalled at the treatment we got at the front desk. It was 100% their fault and they treated us like dirt with no apology. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you don’t mind people who can’t do their jobs blaming their incompetence on you.More
Louis Whitaker’s Bottomless Brunch at La Cappella on Saturdays and Sundays are fantastic. Hosted by Louis Whitaker, he sings and also brings in additional talented performers for every seating. The dining room at La Cappella is one of the most beautiful in Puerto Vallarta filled…with art and antiques and a gorgeous view of the city and bay. The food is excellent, you get to order an entree off an extensive menu, plus there are all you can eat sides including fruit, pastries, breakfast potatoes and meats. Top it all off with bottomless mimosas!More
I have been to La Cappella many times for dinner but never for brunch. I was happy to discover the restaurant has a brunch with bottomless mimosas and live entertainment on the weekends. The host is a really charasmatic local performer by the name of…Louis Whitaker. There were incredible singers who performed. The food was delicious and plentiful as there is a buffet plus you order a dish from the menu. The view is incredible. I would highly recommend this brunch.More
I recently experienced La Capella brunch with Louis Whittaker as the host. This was a fantastic experience with a variety of great features. Louis is an amazing host who also sings and interacts with each guest to insure an incomparable guest experience. The brunch also…features different guest musical performers each week, and the ocean views and bottomless mimosas make it even more special. Overlooking the cathedral, the view, the great food and talented entertainers make La Capella brunch a must for both visitors and locals to enjoy. I highly recommend this to everyone as a memorable experience.More
On multiple occasions, we have really enjoyed the Bottomless Brunch during the weekends at La Cappella! For a nominal fee ($599 pesos) you get unlimited mimosas, bloody Mary’s or Caesars, coffee, buffet and a choice of one main item (I just love the lox and…bagel, my husband adores the eggs Benedict)! You also get spectacular views and wonderful service. But the BEST part of this brunch is the entertainment!!! Hosted by the talented Louis Whittaker (his rendition of “Be My Guest” will make you smile!), each week special guest singers are brought in to perform for the diners. From Brenda Gavino, Kevin Anthony, the Three Tenors, Diana Villamonte, Diego Guerrero and so many more local singing stars, the brunch is definitely an experience unlike any in Vallarta. Treat yourself to a wonderful meal that you’ll remember forever!More

If I could give La Cappella and host/artist Louis Whitaker 10 stars I would. Louis has an amazing voice and style at any venue, but add him to LC with its breathtaking ambiance, delicious food and overall vibe and you’ve got the one MUST VISIT…place in Puerto Vallarta. I’d you can only choose one restaurant to visit, make it LC with the bottomless brunch. And book ahead. It fills up!More
