What happened? We loved this restaurant on our last trip to PV that we went twice in one week. This time it did not deliver. Starting with the Martini, that was watered down. The French onion soup needed salt, and the onions were chewy like…they needed to be cooked longer. The pastry of the vol-au-vent was firm and not flaky at all, almost raw inside. The steak tartare was very light colored, like it at a very high fat content, and the taste of mustard was overwhelming. We were so looking forward to our meal, but won’t be coming backMore

Great job on the decoration, the feeling is 100% European. The food is great, the menu options are just like a bistro in Paris. The Onion soup is the best I had in many years, bourguignon is to die for, we felt in love. This…restaurant is so cute and perfect to do pictures. We really enjoyed it. It was busy so it is probably very popular.More

Service was fine. Pate of duck and pate of Chicken at 600 pesos, described exactly as written on package from Costco for 176 pesos. Special of the night was sausage, I thought how lovely, a french sausage, so all three of us ordered this as…it seemed the most classic of possibilities. The uber fatty kielbasa from Costco did not impress. No excuse for this culinary travesty.More

Please give accurate price if you leave a review, duck foie gras terrine from France is $595 and country pâté $285 so dumb to be dishonest and angry while on vacation!!! Pathetic!

Food was fabulous & I will definitely return. My first time was probably at least 10 years ago with my now deceased husband. This time I went with a dear friend & ordered an entrada to share that was a baked round Camembert cheese with…fabulous slices & great spices & sprinkled with candied pecans served with the exact number of rounded, toasted & buttered slices of baguette bread. Her main course was mussels & mine was chicken cordon bleu the was served to perfection with ham & cheese pieces (gruyere) bathed in a runny cheese & yummy cheese sauce & served with a stuffed grilled to perfection soft thick tomato slice, The problem that ruined this great dining experience was that when I went to eat the leftovers, the restaurant had removed 99% of the yummy cheesy sauce, leaving the chicken dry & tasteless. Makes me think that the restaurant took all that yummy cheesy sauce to make another plate of this delicious dish to give to one of the workers or perhaps t another customer later. it was really disappointing & I for sure will be mentioning it to them if I ever go back (I live here full-time). im hoping they do the right thing if I go back by comping me another main course or even sending me a fresh plate of it. And I left them an excellent tip not knowing what I was actually taking home.More

La Cigale French Bistro is 13 years old, we come to Puerto Vallarta somewhat often and had never heard of it. Right now Vallarta is celebrating “Restaurant Week” (although it actually lasts a month) and we saw a post on FB about this bistro. Two…of my most fave foods are French onion soup and beef Bourguignon and, lo and behold, both of those were on the restaurant week menu. So we went last night and OMG, soooo crazy good! So yeah, if you want to satisfy that craving for French cuisine, give La Cigale a visit!More

I felt like I was back in Paris! We sat in the outside courtyard as it was warm. Very secluded and quiet, with one of their cats for company. The food was excellent. The Chef personally welcomed us and chatted about his menu. Inside the…restaurant, it was very French. A charming alternative once you have eaten enough Mexican food!More

We visited last Thursday evening and reserved a table on their patio. .It was quiet there and felt like being in the south of France. Friendly and attentive service. We both had beef dishes: the boeuf bourguignon and the onglet grillee. They were delicious. Reasonably…priced wine and a complementary digestif at the end. Only disappointment was minor: a shortage of desserts to choose from that evening.More

Food is very good, what service they had was absolutely horrible. Would have done better servicing myself. Ordered wine, asked for another glass and they brought (after a lengthy wait) the wrong wine, i drank it cause i didnt want to wait another 20 minutes…for a waiter to show up. Ordered coffee and tea took forever. God forbid, ordered dessert, took 40 mins. Been coming here 15 years. Total mess, must be what everyone is blaming poor servicing on, covid19.More

We recently visit this restaurant, the table was inside as their nice terrace was full. The indoor area it’s very nice too, we have loved the decoration. We specially try the snails as an apetizer, the salmon which was delicious, the mussels really good too,…as the the dessert of chocolate really good. The service was friendly and apropiate. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We highly recommend it, for sure we will come back the next time we visit Vallarta.More

If you did not know you were in Mexico you would swear you were in Paris! Wonderful ambiance food and service. The best escargot, mussels and Steak tartare prepared at your table. Then have Crepes Suzette with Grand Marnier along with a cup of Espresso…to complete your amazing dinner!More

Busy little French bistro, feel like being in Le Maris in Paris, fun ambience very authentic. The menu is just great, we ordered french onion soup, the best I had in my entire life, better than in Paris lol. Mussels in cream are A MA…ZING, served with fries. Crispy bread and butter to make it even mre amazing. We were a small group, 3 couples, all very happy, salmon or tuna steak as well for my ladies, were divine. Totally recommend it, one of our favorite this last trip in PV.More

Our friends recommended this place so we thought we try it since we travel to France yearly for great French cuisine. We were able to get a table on the terasse on a Wednesday night. We had the mussels in creamy wine sauce but unfortunately…it was made with margarine as it ruined the taste of the sauce. If only they had used real butter would have been excellent. We also had the mushroom vol au vent…mushrooms and sauce were tasty but the puff pastry was not airy and flaky…it was another disappointment. The fries that went with the mussels were not crispy and it was actually limpy. If only they had cooked it in duck fat or find a way to make the fries crispier instead of soft. We also had the coq au vin…which came with a leg and thigh along with a drummette …it was average and rather bland…needed more taste. We ordered a bottle of house red at 500 pesos and it was drinkable but nothing to rave about. We also had the salade nicoise….instead of using seared tuna, they gave smoked tuna that was hard as a brick….one piece of anchovy, one olive sliced, a quarter of an egg, lettuce, and the hard as a rock smoked tuna instead of seared tuna. When we brought up about the tuna being so hard, they did take it off the bill which we appreciated. This restaurant has the potential if they can just make sure: 1. use real butter and not margarine in sauces as margarine has a distinct taste in Mexico 2. make sure the frites are really crispy and not limpy 3. make sure the puff pastry is airy and flaky instead of doughy 4. make sure all entrees are piping hot instead of luke warm We would like to return but only if there is improvement. Thank youMore

This restaurant is a little gem in the heart of Puerto Vallarta with a lovely outdoor patio with great views down to the Malecon and of the fireworks. There is a church next door which was chiming throughout our dinner which also added to the…ambience. The music playing made me think I was in a bistro in France. Perfect setup for a wonderful dinner. After that came disappointment. I am not sure what was going on but the service was not good. We waited 15 minutes before anyone even gave us a menu. Another 15 minutes before anyone took a drink order. Another 15 minutes before we could order food. We had to flag the server down each time to come over to us. Tables around us seemed equally frustrated with the service. We waited a long time for our appetizer which was a goat cheese salad. When I inquired what was taking so long our server said it was because the goat cheese on the salad was being warmed in the oven. The salad was average with too much vinegar in the dressing. The goat cheese and the carmelized nuts in it were delicious. The bread we were served with dinner had been left in the oven too long and was slightly burnt. For my main course I wanted to try the onion soup. It was good but average. My dinner companion had the steak au poivre which came with frites (which were good) and half of the plate was salad. It would have been great had the server told her that since her appetizer was a salad. The steak was tough and overdone from the medium rare she had requested and the salad was below average. When we had arrived we were so excited to have found a possible little gem in PV. I don’t know if they had a staff shortage or what was happening but it would have been good for them to tell us if that was the case. We know that times are tough for staffing restaurants. When I saw the menu there were so many things I wanted to come back for, but I don’t think I can justify going back. I really hope this was a one-off experience that only we had as I see many positive reviews for this restaurant.More

Great atmosphere and food. However, had a horrible experience due to wait staff. Yes they were busy so delays are to be expected but 30 min just for drinks when not that many tables. And when food came, 2 of 3 orders were incorrect. Since…it took 40 min for food, we didn’t send back. The third plate that was correct was cold so had to be sent back. And they forgot the soup. Waiter was not pleasant and made some excuse about a cash register. Overall a very frustrating experience. Could be an excellent restaurant if improve staff.More
