Although the location is great – it was difficult to get reservations here. I saw many empty tables on the day before and weren’t able to accommodate our family if 5! Overall good food but it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t get the time we really…wanted.More
La Palapa is our favorite upscale restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. I have celiac disease and I can eat here safely. Let the staff know you have celiac and they will check to make sure items are gluten free. Of course my absolute favorite is the…coconut shrimp. It’s such a rare treat to find Gf coconut shrimp! We have eaten inside on multiple occasions and once outside when we have my dog. The staff even brought her water in a dog dish. They are very accommodating. They have very good customer service and inside or out, you will have an incredible view.More
The restaurant has a crowd. People want to come back. If it were only the location and view, then La Palapa would be labeled a tourist trap. Based on two visits, it checks a lot of boxes for me. Food is tasty with thoughtful presentation….Service is good especially taking into consideration the amount of people dining. If it felt chaotic, then it would be a hard no from me. Prices are in line with food quality and that location. Dining on the sand with friends once a year is worth a visit to La Palapa.More
Fantastic crab eggs Benedict with a great view and sand under your feet. What else could you ask for? The mango passion fruit margarita is also very excellent here
We love this place so much, we made Christmas Eve dinner reservations in August lol. It was perfect, as always.
This restaurant is beautifully located on the malecon overlooking the ocean and if it’s not too busy you can enjoy your meal with your “feet in the sand” at one of the many tables located directly on the beach. You pay your premium for this…part of the experience and it’s worth it just for that. In our experience there really aren’t any bad food places in PV, so I’d say the food is good here, but probably ranks about 5th out of the 7 dinners we had while on vacation. There are so many other options that will be cheaper, taste better and you will get WAY more on your plate, you just won’t be able to sit with your toes in the sand like you can at La Palapa!More
Dining on the beach, watching the sunset, fabulous cocktails and good food. You can’t go wrong. It was a little pricey – watch the special tequila-but well worth the wonderful evening. We had a party of 5 and everyone was more than happy with their…food and drink.More
My wife and I have going to La Palapa for almost 30 years and have seen the restaurants transformations. It is one of the oldest restaurants in PV. It has great atmosphere, food and drinks. The serve is also great. Make sure to make a…reservation.More
This has long been a favourite restaurant. However we visited twice for dinner and once for breakfast recently and found that the calibre of cooking has declined noticeably. The food is less refined than previously, more like pub food than fine dining. For example the…La Palapa shrimp was stodgy, lukewarm and without much flavour. Breakfast was a super sized cake with strawberries presented as French toast. Eggs Benedict had huge slabs of back bacon rather than the usual thinner slices. Overall, quantity over quality. A shame, because the ambiance and service are superb.More
Chicken Breast (organic) with “plantain purée bell pepper citrus sauce” was by far the most delicious sauce I’ve ever had on chicken. Truly remarkable with complex, yet complementary flavors that made every bite outstanding. Chef and Kitchen staff at La Palapa are clearly top notch.
Dear team La Palapa, really appreciate your assistance with special requests for daily celery juice. Special thanks to Monserrat, Wendy, and Genesis for going above and beyond! Sincerely, Tanya
We normally have a great experience at this restaurant the many times we have been here over the years. This time I ordered their Pork Tenderloin dish. It was overcooked and very dry. In hindsight, I should have asked the waiter to send it back…to the kitchen but I had already eaten half of one of the three small Pork pieces, and I had given my companion one of the small rounds that had originally been served on the plate. We were seated on the beach with very little light, so couldn’t really see how well done the Pork was. Whoever prepared the dish had to have known the dish was over cooked. It was extremely disappointing for me.More
Amazing! This restaurant has a super romantic vibe from the moment you walk in, we sat on the beach and the views were beautiful. The food was PHENOMENAL. We ordered the coconut shrimp app, lobster tail and the beef medallions. Everything was delicious, the meal…was perfect from start to finish. I will absolutely be retuning before heading back home. Highly recommend.More
We have been in PV for three weeks. There are many wonderful restaurants. This was the most expensive we went too. The meals were very small portions. The ambiance is wonderful, right on the beach but the service didn’t match. Quite slow. I love my…wine with supper and didn’t even order any at this restaurant. Way too expensive. I saw some for 9000 pesos!More
Sixteen of us got together for a trip to Puerto Vallarta and for our last dinner, we chose La Palapa. Our beautifully appointed table was set up on the sand. The Mariachi band serenaded us with two songs. They were really good and refused out…tip because it was too large. They insisted on a smaller tip! The food was excellent I had the boneless short rib. While the short rib was excellent, the tamale topper was amazing. The service was excellent and unhurried. The drinks were excellent. Serving a party of 16 is difficult but they did it well, both friendly and professionally and they did it quickly. I highly recommend the restaurant for a special occasion.More
