From the moment we entered until we left, every aspect of our evening was perfect. Staff were all charming, attentive and professional. We ate on the patio overlooking the river- lovely venue. The food was extraordinary- one of the best meals we have ever had….Creative, and layers of flavour- the chef here is a genius! We plan to return on our next visit to PVMore

This meal was the most expensive on our trip and by far the worst. From the rude reservationist, and ruder host, this experience started off poorly. Moving on to the terrible service; we had to ask for water consistently, and remind them to bring us…things we had previously asked for. The weak drinks and mediocre food that left 2 in our group sick was icing on the cake. I would give this place zero stars if I could.More

Unfortunately, my friends and I had a terrible experience here recently. There was a group of 18 of us for dinner, and we made 4 separate reservations in advance. The day of, we called and asked if they could put our 4 tables togeeher given…that we are all going together and want to enjoy dinner together. The host/manager said the only way they would agree to put the tables together is if we all opted for the chef’s tasting menu ($100+ USD each). I asked why that was the case, given that all 18 of us would be eating and drinking, and would all likely spend over $100 a person anyway. They refused again. Begrudgingly, we decided to stay and eat at 4 separate tables. There was a table of 5 next to a table of 4 on one side of the dining room and another table of 5 next to a table of 4 on the other side. It didn’t make any sense. To top it off, other than the 18 of us the restaurant was completely empty. Empty tables in between all of us and the outdoor area was completely empty (see photos). If we hadn’t kept our reservation the place would have been empty all night. The manager/host was rude and made us feel like we were a burden when all she needed to do was move a table by a couple of feet. She put her ego and power trip over customers who wanted nothing more than to support this restaurant and enjoy the evening with friends. I won’t even get into the food, other than saying it wasn’t worth the price, and everyone in the kitchen looked miserable.More

I really was looking forward to Tintoque, but there wasn’t one course that we were happy with entirely. Each course had promises of brilliance but in execution or lack of supervision ultimately disappointed. Drinks were $15US, and the quality did not warrant the price. My…negroni had some charred something in a strip in it, on my last sip, I got a piece of i wrap the same size as the strip. The wine list was well curated, with a variety of classic and local offerings. The catch of the day was cooked to perfection but was paired with greens dressed only in oil. My companion enjoyed his salad. The enchilada’s pork cheek was succulent and unctuous and crispy in all the right places, the tortilla on top was stale-crispy, not toasted crispy, and the pipian sauce was insipid. Halfway through an unpopped popcorn kernel was a bit of a shock. The “cheesecake that isn’t” was not a mousse either, the little cakes in the box were nearly flavorless and the pannacotta-reminiscent bowl had a blue cheese tang that was challenging to enjoy. I need to say that the plating was always gorgeous and innovative, if only the flavors had been as well developed. We eat at Michelin star restaurants on occasion and enjoy fine dining, but this is sadly neither. In the end we wished we had saved the money for taco stands.More

Had a warm evening (hot on balcony in early September) with husband and parents. The food was amazing—recommend sharing. I was amazed to find this restaurant—high-quality ambiance and cuisine, better than some in Mexico City or New York City.

Yes the food was outstanding but the staff made the meal! And weather dependent, try and get a seat outside by the stream/river! There was an insane downpour so we were treated a “river” experience. Cant wait to go back

Having read the reviews, we were at least a little concerned that we were going to end up disappointed by our visit here but we need not have been worried. Tintoque is one of those places–and we have eaten around the world over many decades–that…combines a very attractive setting and physical arrangement, with high quality food and, perhaps most critical, service that shows those who are preparing your food are very into what they are doing. Our primary server, David, along with the other staff who also provided us service but whose names we did not, unfortunately get (I think one was Mario) seemed excited to share with us the food and wine. We purchased the tasting menu and accompanying regular wine pairing–not every dish was a hit, and not every wine pleased us but there was nothing that was not worth trying. My wife and I each had different favorites–we both rated the 36 hour tomato and Shiso Wrap very highly–I was a big fan of the fish/penang curry, she was partial to the corn stew and lamb. As for the wines, I especially liked the Sebastian David Chenin blanc, she liked the brut champagne. Although not inexpensive by an means, we thought both the food and the wine pairing were good value–in a few cases, it would have been nice if the chefs had provided another bit or two to the small bites–which the servings definitely are and they let you know that up front–but beyond that, there is everything to recommend Tintoque.More

Best dinner in pv. I spent a month in puerto Vallarta and returned here three times. Get the tasting menu and then come back for the short ribs. Every meal was delicious.

Well after watching this place come to fruition the past few years, felt I had to go. I did, will not return. As my wife said, kinda the emperors new clothes place, I think people are supposed to like. The prices are very high, which…is fine, if you get what you pay for .. I refused to order a drink, prices higher than high end San Francisco prices… (love Bar La Playa, Mezcal Y Sal, Elixir Mixology… all prepare fresh, craft cocktails for less than half the price) Did order some bread and butter ($6.50) and Calamari(forget price, but not out of line), and a regular old Margarita to start. The bread was burnt, and the seasoned butter oil mixture did not agree with me, so ordered some plain butter. Calamari was pretty, and the calamari was cooked pretty well, but again the dipping sauces while looking nice, fell short in flavor for me. I ordered the Short Ribs my wife the Prime steak, I think each were about $70, wow, do I feel like a suckered, while the pile of short ribs was large, it was dry, and not seasoned much at all, there was no sauce for this, they gave some chimichuri which missed the mark, and did not pair well with the beef. My wife’s steak was very small, over cooked too, OK Jose’s ( formerly no way Jose) prime filled at less than half the price was much better. We did like the Coconut water and the chocolates provided… trying to pay was a struggle, asked 3 times, finally went to a manager… the server over all was fine, but not a high end career waiter. As they say there is an @$$ for every seat, mine will not return here, so many other options, at a better price, that had me leaving feeling much more satisfied on all levelsMore

There are amazing places in Puerto Vallarta to eat, this is NOT one of them! There are some amazing top tier restaurants all over the world, this is NOT one of them! I would recommend staying away unless you would like to pay for the…following: Plates chipped? √ Seated next to bathroom? √ Tasting menu over salted? √ Glass candle holders filled with old grey water? √ Undercooked fish that you have to send back? √ Servers that rush you through a meal? √ I honestly do not know why anyone would torture themselves with this restaurant.More

April 23, 2022: Six of us had dinner at this fine restaurant, where I often eat when I am in PV. NO complaints about the food or the service but on this occasion, 5 of us ordered the ‘chef special’ which was a fish that…sort of resembled –by what the server told us- the sea bass. Specifically, I mentioned to the server that I like my fish moist, not over done. Imagine our surprise when the 5 orders arrived with the fish so fried that it was dried and flavorless. The sauce in which the chef placed the fish was diviner. Wen the server asked us how was our meal, two of us expressed our opinion whcih was related to Don Felix. He made it right, listened to our concern and asked us if we wanted to order something else. We didnt it. I only asked for more sauce to go to eat the super fried fish next day at home and dip it in that delicious greenish sauce. Don Felix presented us with a bottle of proseco for all of us. This was a nice gesture and it was greatly appreciated. We don’t go out for free meals but if we pay a handsome price for something special, we want it to be special. Suggestion: train your staff in the kitchen……I am sure the famous chef was off that night. Shake your martinis, don’t stir them. We ordered two martinis with a leeche inside and a little red flower and we didn’t feel the taste of tequila….I asked the server if the bartender had forgotten to add tequila and he said ‘no’…so he took back our drinks and added tequila…but again, we didn’t feel the tequila but decided to just let it be……………………IMAGINE our surprise when we biter on the leeche and it was full of tequila…we did get a buzz from this………………….so…the fruit absorbed all the alcohol…………….suggestion; SHAKE YOUR DRINKS…. We will return………….it was one of those nights that nobody can prevent….and thanks Don Felix who came to the door to say his goodbyes as our group of 6 were leaving…. Best,More

Tintoque has a combination of good food and attentive staff. I was skeptical coming to this place that it was going to be pretentious staff coupled with mediocre food. Well, I was in for a surprise. Everything we had was what a first rate restaurant…serves. All of the dishes with one exception were dishes that you could taste the individual ingredient and play with your food to create different taste profiles. The “exception” was a shrimp dish that was good, but didn’t offer the same depth of taste as other dishes. I’d come here again in a heartbeat. One note : the lamb meal is so big, it should be a shared plate. It was absolutely fantastic and could have been half the food without disappointing anyone. Most of our friends ordered the tasting menu (all good). My partner order the epinada appetizer and the lamb main, I ordered the shrimp appetizer and chicken (hen) main (try the chicken is no joke in this place, it was fantastic).More
