I ordinarily avoid vegetarian/vegan restaurants, but this restaurant may have changed my mind. After the Puerto Vallarta Hanukkah celebration, 9 of us had dinner here. At least three are vegetarians. I was surprised at the variety of choices and the portion sizes. The salads and…pizzas can easily feed two. Manicotti and lasagna are the same. Hector, our server, was a bit harried because we were so many, needing separate checks, and the restaurant was full when we arrived. But he took good care of us. The owner/chef was also very accommodating. I would certainly return.More
Cozy and quaint restaurant in Zone Romantica. One of the few offering vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent pizza and pasta. Service was superb! It is now a “go-to” place for us!
Hands down the best gluten free pizza I have ever had. So good, we went here twice. The owner created his own gluten free crust blend that he bakes in a wood fired oven. It’s a simple menu of vegetarian and Italian dishes, with gluten…free and vegan options. We ordered the pear and goat cheese salad to split. He delivered it already spilt between two plates, so big we thought it was actually 2 servings. The pizza came out next, Jean Pierrre. There were tons of fresh toppings with plenty of pomadoro sauce. The crust was airy and crispy, something gluten free pizzas always lack. And the pizza was enough to split between two people. It was cooked well, had lots of toppings and cheese and had brought sauce. These are always my buggiest complaints about gluten free pizza, especially because you typically get charged a lot more. His gluten free up charge is only 30 pesos ($1.50). And the water was even amazing. House water infused with ginger. Next day, went back for lunch and got a similar meal. This time we had the Greek salad split and the 5 Terre. Again, perfectly baked and completely satisfied! There’s also a coffee bar, pastas (gf options), and desserts with gf options too! The location is on a side street just off the Malecón. The atmosphere is small and relaxed, open air with fans. No A/C but we were comfortable. They take cash or credit card. If you want pizza in Puerto Vallarta, go here. You will not be disappointed. You can get non gluten free as well as vegan.More
Warm, inviting, great food, highly recommend! We are regular visitors to PV and a friend invited us here. It was a treat!
We ate here 4 times! I bought the T-Shirt! Really a great restaurant owned by Marco. Great service and just great food. We really enjoyed our time here! The T-Shirt says, “Veggitalia runs on love, good wine and really good food.” So true. Come and…try it…even if your not vegan!More
It was the first and the last. On our recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, after leaving the airport and making our way to Centro, my wife wanted to return directly to Veggitalia for dinner. On our way back to the airport, we had our lunch…meal here, too. Chef Marco is a master of Italian vegetarian cuisine. The pizzas and salads are awesome. We had never tried any of the pastas but after reading a negative review about the pastas, we thought we had at least try one of the pastas to see if the review was accurate or just a one off. We had the manicotti and it was exquisite. Our favorite pizza is the Cinco Terra (sp?) and our favorite salad is the one with the pears. However, everything we have had has been exceptional. Check out the vegetable anti-pasta. Be advised that if you order the vegan cheese for your dish, they add a surcharge of 30 pesos as of March 2022. (If you are familiar with vegan cheese, you know that it is very expensive. However, they really should make it more transparent that you will be charged more.) Yes, the service is a little slow but hey!, you are in Mexico at an authentic Italian restaurant. What did you expect? Relax and savor every bite!More
Exceptionally good pizza. Beer and wine were good, too. Came 3 times in 3 weeks. Service is outstanding. All of the staff very friendly and helpful. Saw others eating lasagna, pasta, etc. All were raving about the food. Reasonably priced. Close to Malecon in Centro…on a side street.More
Lovely place. Excellent pasta. Had the pasta puttanesca and the penne with lentils. Also had the Greek salad. Well balanced dressing. Great service. Highly recommend for a vegetarian option in Puerta Vallarta.
This place is out of this world! The offer authentic Italian vegetarian dishes that are insanely delicious! The lasagna was the best I have ever had in my life! The cafe is intimate and the staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Veggitalia!
We got a takeaway which consisted of a couple of parmigiana melanzane and a pizza. Both were decent but didn’t blow me away. The parmigiana melanzane included food quality aubergine but the cheese was a little too mild to really impress. The chef seemed like…a really nice guy and I’m sure the business will do well. The waiter serving us asked my friend for a tip when we were paying for a takeaway which seemed unprofessional.More
Cute little spot just off the busy Malecon I’ve been looking for gluten free pizza and this one didn’t disappoint the crust was really good !! The wine list was pretty good and well priced They brought out a complimentary app and the sauces are…all home made including amazing hot sauces I wanted to send the owner this pic of him but couldn’t find an email so I’ll do it here I would def recommend for vegan/vegetarian and gluten free optionsMore
So vegitallia has a nice Italian menu. The food is available in either vegan or regular cheese they can make any items on the menu vegan which is great! The owner is from Italy and he is so funny and nice. The only thing that…I wanna say is DO NOT go here if you’re in any kind of rush!!! The Service is slow and will take you a few hours to eat here if that’s what you’re looking for a place to just have beer or wine and dine in a slow relaxed atmosphere then you’re in the right place. For me it’s nice because there’s no rushed feeling…. but also if you are in a hurry to eat then this would not be a place for you. The pizzas were fantastic. Our parents had the regular capresse salad and I thought it was one of the best day ever had even better than Italy. We ordered the vegan cheese board which I thought was disgusting. It looked beautiful but it was like eating hard pieces of plastic. I’ve had vegan cheese before that taste good but as far as chunks of cheese this was not one of the good ones and should definitely be skipped!! The vegan cheese that was melted on the pizza and the pasta however it was great. I think this is a wonderful place for two people who just wanna relax and spend a few hours eating and drinking wine or beer.More
It pains me to write this but I must be honest. We arrived and we were met by the owner. He said we were 1 hour late. He claimed he had messaged us to change our reservation to 6pm but we never got any message….It’s ok, he said and prepared our table. We ordered our starters, main course and beverages. 40 minutes later our drinks arrived. Then we got our starters but 1 was missing. Ever time we asked for our missing starter we were told it was coming. It finally arrived. Our entrees were brought and one was missing. Again, we asked multiple times and it finally arrived. We had to ask multiple times for our bill too. During our dining experience we noted other tables got the same mediocre service while other tables received their food and drinks in a more timely manner. When we were done dining we spoke again to the owner who took zero responsibility for the series of missteps. The best we got from him was that he was busy in the kitchen. Funny because we noticed him talking to customers at the small bar area rather than paying attention to the rest of the tables. All in all, good food doesn’t make up for lousy service and a lack of responsibility. In a city we’re there are numerous restaurants, we will be taking our business elsewhere and suggest you do the same.More
WOW!! We stumbled upon this gem our first night in Puerto Vallarta and were blown away by the quality of the food and the beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Let me explain—we are from St. Louis, MO, whose Italian food, I am proud to say, rivals the…best meals we ever had in actual Italy, soy experience on the subject is well-informed. Our (not terribly gastronomically-easy to please) kids, my husband and I all loved the dishes we ordered. It was clear that every bite was prepared with great care by an authentically Italian chef, who takes great pride in his restaurant and the food he serves. Veggitalia had everything we wanted—a lovely family atmosphere, good wine, and great food. We are here again for dinner tonight!!More
I should start by saying I’ve never left such a critical review in my life. I promise I’m not some angry person going on some rant. Here is my completely honest review of Veggitalia. My wife and I were very excited to eat at this…restaurant since it is vegetarian and the restaurant has beautiful interior decor. We arrived and it took 20 minutes of standing in the doorway to have someone speak with us, 40 minutes to receive our appetizer and another 30 minutes to receive our meal. Overall it took 2 hours to get in and out of this 6 table restaurant. I would have been completely ok with this had the food been decent. We had even over heard someone telling the owner they enjoyed their meal and he responded “that’s why people wait.” So if you do visit this restaurant make sure you have time. The bruschetta (typically our favorite dish) was very underwhelming, having no garlic whatsoever. The Penne Bononia tasted like plain tomato sauce on penne noodles. The lasagna tasted similar, just with more cheese. The strangest part of our experience was being charged an even $1000 pesos. I added up our bill a few different ways to try and justify the irony of being charged such an even and expensive price and the highest total I could calculate was $888 pesos after a 20% tip. I’m giving a 2 star rating because the Tiramisu was actually good. Even after writing this I feel like maybe it’s a bit harsh to post but I’d really like to help inform people of my experience while at Veggetalia.More
