Always was one of my top restaurants to visit when in Vallarta. Haven’t been to Vallarta in 3 years so was sadly disappointed with the food, service and things like the menus are really getting run down. Sad because always loved the location. Too bad…something is way off.More
We always head to Vitea for lunch every time we are in Puerto Vallarta .Today we were very disappointed as the service was terrible. We waited for nearly 30 minutes for a waiter to take our food order. We were missing cutlery and asked for…water and none arrived. The ladies bathroom was a disgrace with a toilet that did not flush. Hard to believe this restaurant is associated with Trio.More
This oceanfront bistro has possibly the best location on the Malecon. You’ll enjoy a great selection of good food while gazing off at the ocean and watching tourists stroll the Malecon.
For some reason I just assumed that all of the restaurants on the PV Malecon were just tourist traps with less than stellar food. Our dining is usually a couple of blocks (or more) inland for seemingly much better quality. Vitea is a standout exception…to my previous assumption. Our meal was outstanding. Drinks, apps, salads, entrees, bread … all were perfectly on point. Throw in great service and an ocean view table and you have a top tier fine dining experience. Don’t walk by this place if you are looking for something really special. (P.S. they also have a GREAT breakfast)More
Located on the Malecon, surrounded by chain restaurants, sports bars, and shops, sitting outside you are whisked away to an oasis of calm. The staff is quite responsive to our needs. We make it a point to visit at least once during our trips to…PV. The kitchen may look small but they produce a high volume of food at a high quality.More
Very friendly bar/restaurant on the Malecón. We had cold drinks and then took advantage of the two for one Margarita. After reading other reviews we decided to order some food. The launch menu didn’t have the cauliflower which had been highly rated but we ordered…fish tacos which were exceptional. The bread that came while we were waiting was served with a tomato and onion spread and a cream cheese with peppers. It would be worth coming to this restaurant just for this!!! The fish tacos were red snapper and enough for both of us to share. Also with an exceptional flavor.More
Many places on the Malecon feature the location, and there are great locations, with view of the ocean or all of the crowds strolling the boardwalk. In most of these, the food is an afterthought. I was looking for shade, cold beer, and a seafood…lunch, and was VERY pleased with my time there. First, the waiter was excellent, present but not hovering. Friendly, but not fake. He spoke pretty good English and was tolerant of my Spanish. The guacamole is hard to screw up, and they didn’t. The entre was excellent. The fillet of snapper was fresh and moist, not overcooked as in so many places. Perfectly seasoned with Mojo de Ajo garlic sauce. The green salad was super. Fresh spring greens, with avocado and punkin seeds, and a vegetable new to me – watermelon radish. I will come back!More
First time ever leaving a review, but I had to. To begin with the staff was amazing, they took care of us very well. I got the filet mignon and my husband got a seafood dish, and we shared a shrimp salad. I could not…say enough good things about the food, it was excellent and very well priced. The location was great right on the boardwalk we had amazing sunset. This was the first time I had visited this restaurant and I was overcome with how kind they were to us. As we finished our meal it started to downpour very hard, and we could not get an Uber back because the streets were totally flooded. The chef his name is ulf, who I have never met before was so kind to drive us back to our hotel. He even took another couple to their hotel as well. Whenever you’re in Puerto Vallarta, and looking for an excellent restaurant which is well priced, beautiful views, and wonderful staff this is a place for you to visit.More
The patio is right on the Melancon, great view, enough shade. I don’t recommend sitting right at the edge where vendors can approach and try to sell while you’re eating. Had a great salad with grilled shrimp – romaine, arugula, tomato, orange, sunflower seeds. Dressing…avocado, lime/cilantro.More
I received the wrong dish, Than a half hour later i got the right one, and the fish was raw. No good food, really expensive and unfriendly personal.
We love this restaurant. This time when we went there, we took friends that were visiting. They have more than doubled the outdoor seating. It is very busy. We sat down and put in our drink orders and the drinks came fairly soon. We placed…our meal order and it was over two hours and still had not been served our main course. We did have an appetizer of calamari and it was salty and way over cooked. They fried it so much that it shrunk down to looking like small round crumbs. After two hours, we asked for the check and left without receiving our main course. We have a condo here and in the past, this was one of our go to places to dine. I think they have expanded so much that the kitchen cannot keep up. We saw a lot of tables with people just waiting for their food. A table behind us really upset and vented to the waiter. Once they received their entrees they asked for the check. I’m not sure we will return. The waiters were great. This I feel is a management and kitchen problem. I hope they can figure it out. It use to be such a wonder restaurant.More
This restaurant has been around a long time is clearly surviving on its history and location only, because the food is just bad and the service is mediocre. I got the carbonara and sent it back because the sauce was terrible and the pasta was…overcooked and mushy. The calamari was too salty but at least it was edible. The decor is also old and tired. It’s only good for people watching on the malecón, but it’s a hard pass if you want actual good food.More
My wife and I had just arrived from San Diego and settled in to our apartment and made a reservation at Vitea. This is a favorite restaurant of ours and has become a tradition for us to eat there our first night upon arriving in…PV every year in February. We were greeted by a new fellow….Jonathon….who is a “wine guy” and a huge asset as a “front of the house” personality. Our starters are always Octopus and Chorizo salad and Shrimp Tempura…Then we share a Filet with an extraordinary red reduction sauce and possibly the best fries around…A bottle of Spanish cava and a world class Sapphire martini rounded it all out…But, it was Jonathon and his attentiveness and assistance that really topped off everything…We’re here for more than a month and can’t wait to return……Give it a try…..Worth every penny…..GaryMore
This place is actually called: Vitea – Ocean Front Bistro. This place lives up to that name as it does have a wonderful view of the beach and Banderas Bay. Also a great place to people watch walking along the Malecon. Service was prompt, friendly…and efficient. I had coffee and ordered the Chilaquiles Con Pollo – crispy corn small bite tortillas chips with chicken, onion and tomato covered with ranchero sauce, salsa verde, cilantro, con queso and cream. Also included a side of black beans and scrambled eggs. Awesome and filling breakfast. Very nice place and a recommended stop from me.More
A group of friends including me went to this restaurant for dinner. As soon as we got to the restaurant my male friend and i went straight to the bathroom. The owner of the place stopped us thinking we were not clients and asked us…to point out the table we were sitting. We told him we had just arrive and didn’t had a table but we were planning to have dinner in his restaurant. I went to the bathroom and my male friend went too. The owner chased my friend and told him that he clearly was not a client and tried to get him out of the bathroom but my friend ignored him. We sat on the table with our friends and the waiters apologize telling us he usually was this way and gave us a free drink. The food was great but clearly the owner is a racist because all of his other clients were white and he treated us bad because we are obviously mexicanos. The owner apologized as soon as he saw what we spend. Btw we were dressed more nicely than the foreign people so this was not a dress code issue.More
