Good prices for the location. Nice view of the sunset right on the beach. We were happy with our drinks, service and dinner. Note that this restaurant does not accept visa. Everything changed when we got our bill. We were overcharged by 30 %. When…questioned, we were told that it was the tip already added. Way too much. We paid the proper total and left, never to return!More
Receipt scammed here. It “No Incluye Propina / Tips Not Included” however they actually did include propina / tip on a small line, but then marked an X on the credit card receipt to encourage adding even more on top. Such a shame as the…food and atmosphere was actually pretty nice. There are multiple other reviews of this occurring at this restaurant, dating back years.More
So, I read that others may have experienced an issue with the crab taquitos, but mine were actually very good. The margarita was also very good in fact we re-ordered another round. I guess this is a hit and miss place.
Wen to this restauran twice during one week visit. The seafood is great. Prepared in many unusual ways by Chef Armando. Trained at Cordon Blue in Orange County, CA. Stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon was the most delicious I have ever had. Ahi Ahi was…melt in your mouth. Prices are very reasonable. You might miss it, because it is upstairs on the Malecon. Great open patio upstairs.More
It was amazing! We watched the sunset from the balcony. The food was delicious, the staff very friendly! We will come again! They play live music on some days! I really recommend the mojito oceano!
Family of four from Colorado really enjoyed this delicious, local restaurant. Please support local businesses in Puerta Vallarta. One of the best!
So I’ve reviewed this restaurant in the past, positive reviews I might add, but yesterday my wife and I had the worst experience ever. I had stopped going to this restaurant as beer prices had climbed to 50 pesos each, over 3 times the price…of what they buy it for. About two weeks ago they asked me why I no longer stop in for a meal. I told them I’m not paying 50 pesos for a beer I can buy in any local store for 14 pesos. They dropped their price to 20 pesos. Yeh. So we decided it was time to start going here again. The first lunch we had was perfect. Yesterday it was a mess. My wife orders a salad and they didn’t have all the ingredients to make it. No almonds, no strawberries, and not even the right cheese, and no they didn’t offer a discount, just apologies. Then I placed my order for wings. I specified well done with a sweet spicy sauce. They said “buffalo” and I emphatically said NO. Guess what? They came smothered in that crap. A huge discussion followed and I made every attempt to get the cook to make a sauce as it really is easy. Not happening. So we paid up and left. Very disappointed. Not going back.More
Was recommended this place by a local, and it did not disappoint. Great view of the Malecon and the ocean only added to the deliciousness of the food. Due to tourism being way down thanks to Covid, it’s possible that I was the only person…in the restaurant so let’s just say the service was amazing. Came especially for the seafood and the Fish Tacquitos and Garlic Shrimp did not disappoint. They also make an excellent Paloma.More
Me and my mother wanted to have somewhere nice to eat and a yummy cocktail with a nice view for the evening. The nice host invited us in everything was fine. Our server came over and took our drink order for the 2×1 margaritas. We…got those and I don’t believe there was any alcohol in it. We know the risks of the 2×1. We asked our server for some suggestions and we ended up ordering the crab taquitos!!! We were so excited and starving. The food came out and it looked amazing I couldn’t wait to dig in!! I took 1 bite and it was all tortilla with a tiny bit of crab but mostly sauteed bell peppers smothered in this disgusting sauce. Not only that but it tasted like soap!!! It was obvious they covered it in the sauce to hide the fact that there was a tiny amount of filling. We waited for our server to come back and check on us so we can switch it out for something else but 10mins later she still NEVER came back and within those 10mins we tried to get anybody else’s attention but we felt like they were avoiding eye contact. One worker was texting on his phone. Finally the host came over and we complained to him. Mind you there were many workers and 3 filled tables. He went to get our server. She asked if we wanted to switch it out but at that point we were done and so disgusted by the food we didn’t want to take another chance. She then asked why we didn’t tell her? We told her we didn’t know where she went. Then she said why didn’t we asked another server? We said we did that’s who finally brought you back over. Then she started saying if we don’t pay she would have to pay for it. Huh??? If that was the case she should have made sure we were ok. I am also a food server so I know how things work. We were going to pay for our drinks but we didn’t eat the food, it was horrible, we were willing to switch it out but no one came over to check on us even when we tried to get someone’s attention the host from downstairs had to help us in a restaurant that’s not busy. She got really aggressive and then all of a sudden all of the workers were at our table???????????? Wow right?? No one came to our table when we needed help for 10 minutes now they are all there???????????? They tried to block us from leaving. There was no manager either. One of the guys started shoving me screaming at us saying this isn’t America and the female server after complaining about having to pay for it started calling us poor!!! One of the men tried to grab my dog from my elderly mother. I could tell they profiled us the whole time and that is probably why the service was so bad and the food as well. Please don’t support this restaurant. Times are hard right now. I understand and we want to support local businesses. We have been to many amazing restaurants in Puerto Vallarta with amazing food and customer service. These workers seemed drunk or high and uninterested in doing their job. They don’t like Americans they just want your American dollar!! Shame on them for bad quality of food, terrible customer service and getting aggressive for what they did!!! We are filing a report on them as well.More
Place was empty when we went in for a fairly early dinner. But they did not disappoint, the food was amazing. Our waitress was friendly and attentave. I would suggest anyone wanting authentic local cuisine to try it.
Cruise the Malecon – get hungry, get thirsty, Stop here. Best Micheladas in town. Always reliable and super friendly. Been here several times over the years and at least 3 times in March 2020…after the Covid hit, they were super diligent with distancing the tables,…cleaning the chairs and tables etc..I just wanted to give them a shout out after treating us so well, in hard times.More
Amazing quality food prepared and served by smiling and happy staff. Yes we are in the middle of the Carona virus scare but still they do their best for their guests and they do it with class and humour. Everyone is scared but in true…Mexican fashion they pray and endure. A perfect place to enjoy a meal, a cerveza and the views of Bahia de Banderas. Everything will be closed for 2 weeks but damn what a party we’re going to have when that 2 weeks is up. Eat, enjoy and be happy.More
My wife and I have been to Bar Oceano many times while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. The filet of fish, cooked in lime and butter, was excellent. However, the service was awful. Our drink order was taken promptly, but we waited waited 1 1/12…hours for our meal. It was not that busy, maybe 10 tables with one group on 8 getting most of the attention. When I asked the waitress what was taking so long, she told me we waited to long to place our order! We won’t be going back.More
Pleasant restaurant on the second floor overlooking the Malecon. Lowest priced happy hour margaritas I’ve found here so far ($35 pesos in 2020). After 9 pm, the price goes up to the regular price. Decent margarita and the view is hard to beat. I am…also a fan of their guacamole. Very worthwhile.More
We have been to PV many many times, and our favourite bar has always been Bar Oceano. It has a lovely view and is right on the Malecon, and the prices, food and drink and service have always been top notch. I have probably reviewed…it several times in the past and given excellent ratings, and recommended this to all our friends travelling to PV…but this November 2019 trip made us a little unhappy. We have never scrutinized our bill there before (let’s be honest, after a bunch of margaritas, and also not being able to read spanish, who really does?), but chose to this time as there was an extra line item we didn’t recognize. It turns out that they add the tip (propina in Spanish) to each bill already but don’t advise you of that, so you are actually being CHARGED a tip and then paying your tip on top of that! Kind of shady business dealings there…and we have always tipped handsomely as we enjoyed our time there that much but feel ripped off that we have never noticed this before and it certainly has never been mentioned. Maybe some guests don’t give tips…I have no idea. But we certainly always tip well and so it was a bit disheartening to be tricked into paying 2 tips. Moral of the story..check your bill carefully before paying.More
