I wanted to eat at this restaurant because they have Alambres, which is hard to find on menus in Puerto Vallarta. The atmosphere is very nice. Seating is in the back, under an open sky but with a retractable roof. My Alambre “Steven” – pastor,…asada, chorizo, queso – was excellent. My friend had Pina Rellena which was less successful. The waiter, however, was a disaster. He seemed in a rush and when we wanted to take our time to review the menu, he was impatient and somewhat nasty. I asked questions and his responses were short and not helpful (yes, I speak Spanish). We ordered drinks and watched them sit on the bar waiting to be delivered to us for at least 15 minutes, while he ran around, talking to people, and seemed to ignore us. A female waitress finally delivered the drinks to us. When we finally ordered food, after sitting nearly 30 minutes, it took another 30 for the food to arrive. He offered no apologies and was not attentive while we were eating. Quite honestly, he seemed like he was high or tweaked on something. Despite liking the food, I will never return to this restaurant for fear of getting this waiter again. I should add, no one thanked us for coming or said, “please come again” as we exited.More
The food, drinks, and service are all lackluster. It looked cool when we walked in, but it was all downhill from there. There are so many better taco place around, this was is not worth it.
Went here because the line at Panchos Takos was so long (as usual) and we saw the spit out front for making tacos al pastor. The tacos were great and the restaurant was spacious and airy, with tables set far apart. Servers were friendly and…helpful. We do love Panchos but not enough to wait in a long line, and now we know there is a great, uncrowded and comfortable alternative for al pastor just up the street.More
Tacos severed with cold store bought tortillas. Absolutely terrible. Go to the taco stand on the corner for better tacos. At least the tortillas are fresh and don’t taste like rubber.
We stopped in because of the al pastor in the front. We were not disappointed, they were wonderful. I also had a mushroom quesadilla (loads of mushrooms) and hubby had taco al pastor quesadilla. Loaded with plenty of meat. Very reasonably priced. Sure beats waiting…inline down the street. Can’t wait to go again later in the week.More
We saw the pork cooking in front while walking down the street and decided to come in—-well, there is a huge outdoor seating area in the back of the place with a bar and all. Who knew? We sat down, had a beer and looked…at the very reasonably priced options on the menu. The tacos looked good, but the waiter recommended the Alambre Steven and I am thrilled he did. We had the chorizo, pastor, and asada mixed and it was fantastic. Loads of onions, peppers, and seasoning. Additionally, we had corn and flour tortillas (I love traditional corn, my dining partner likes his flour tortillas so we asked for both). This one meal was more than enough for two! Additionally, radishes, limes, and three types of salsas were brought to the table to add to our items. This is a family owned restaurant creating great traditional Mexican at a very fair price! I recommend El Santo Taco and will return.More
Disgusting Meal… I live in PV, I hardly ever take the time to write a negative review, and I won’t recommend… you’re better off at the delicious street tacos up the street (they don’t serve alcohol)… the owner comp’t our dinner but even then it…wasn’t worth the 2 hour weight after we sat down… the sirloin tasted like dog food with gristle… the beer was good but that’s about it… go for street tacos instead. Save your money. SAD because it’s a great location… the tacos were really good this summer when no one was here, but now they’re overwhelmed.More
I discovered this little gem walking back to my condo. The moment I walked in the door I was treated like an old family friend. The mural on the wall was what caught my eye but little did I know what I was about to…experience. Delcious tacos and the absolute best drinks in puerto vallarta. Jonny cruz is the extremely skilled mixologist so his drinks are in my book considered works of art!! You will regret not going to El Santo Taco!More
This a great ‘value for money’ place to eat in Vallarta. The restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the tacos are good! Would recommend and I shall definitely be eating here again next year.
Recently had a great dinner here with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters and we were all very pleased. Saw the pastor spit on the street which was inviting and drew us inside. Lovely courtyard setting. Had queso fundido, which my youngest couldn’t get enough…of. We then ordered the flambe dishes which is their version of fajitas. Wonderful as well. Highly recommend this place so please visit when times return to normal in PV.More
I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Other restaurants in the same area get a long line and a lot of love but this place is actually better. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, but when you get back into the…courtyard area it is beautiful. The service is great. The food is authentic, delicious and plentiful. I would recommend the Stevens combo fajitas. We went back twice.More
The owner Armando used to be one of our favourite waiters at El Patron. This locale on Basilio Badilio is in a perfect location. The tacos and quesadillas are fresh and of excellent quality. These will rival Pancho’s Tacos any day, without waiting 45 minutes…standing in line. The margaritas are made with quality tequila and made to perfection. Thank you Armabdo for the great meal.More
On a two-week vacation with my wife, sister and her hubby. Found this place by accident but the “pastor” meat grilling outside looked really good so we went in. We were surprised that what looked like a small stall from the street opened up to…an open-air restaurant in the back. The staff were the friendliest we met during the entire visit. The food was amazing. I can’t recommend the “Volcanes” enough … like an open-faced quesadilla with cheese and meat. Simply amazing. Tacos and Quesadillas were equally great. Go there if you’re in old PV … its worth it.More
Tasty inexpensive street tacos, cheap beer, fresh margaritas, cute open air patio and great service…what more can you ask for? Dinner for two with drinks, appetizer, guacamole and tacos until we were stuffed – 25 bucks. We’ll be back!
Very nice ambiance and tasty tacos. Prices typical for tacos in the area. The accompanying sauces were quite good, but I was disappointed that no chips were provided (as I’ve become accustomed to from the other good taco restaurants I’ve been to). Overall, it is…on a par with the other good taco places here. Service was ok.More
