I recommend stopping in for a refreshment and a bite. Very upbeat crew. You will find a permanent smile occupying your face. Have a ‘Happy Hour’ margarita (6 to 7). No regrets.

Good food, happy hour margaritas and beautiful views over the Bay of Banderas. Service is good but not exceptional. Always an enjoyable experience.

We have stayed in this complex the past 2 years n a row. The terrace restaurant poolside is terrific – excellent friends service, 2 for 1 happy hour from 6-7, and exceptional food. Right on the water with terrific sunset vistas. Their avocado/shrimp dish is…the best around and all the food is wonderful. There is entertainment 2-3 times a week too.More

One evening, my husband & I went to La Palapa at Girasol Sur on Playas Gemelas for drinks, dinner, and dancing to a live band. We were seated on the terrace over-hanging water. The sunset set was one of the most spectacular ones that I…have seen in PV. The fiery crimson sun appeared to set between the two Los Arcos. I felt that I could almost reach out and touch it! People were snapping photos all around us. When, the sun dropped in the bay, there was a spontaneous applause by all as it was quite a performance.:) I ordered a Margarita and since it was HH, I received two of them. My husband had white wine which was a double for HH. For dinner, I ordered avocado stuffed with prawns and my husband ordered a linguine & seafood marinara sauce. Both our meals were very good, rich, & extremely filling. We ordered another round of drinks just as the music started. I switched to the double sized white wine. HH is from 6-7 PM. The band was very good. The music got everybody up dancing. They played all our favorite classic rock and roll songs. A lady for the audience joined the band for a couple of numbers. I heard people saying that she always does when this band is playing there. She had a good voice and it was enjoyable to listen to her sing. After dancing for a couple hours, I was totally exhausted. But, it was so much fun! The whole evening cost just under $900 p. including the tip. The location, the ambiance, food, drinks, and service was top-notch!More

This is the most amazing hidden gem. It is our piece of paradise. The restaurant is incredibly, if it’s not on the menu they will make it if they can, the staff is wonderful. It has a thatched palapa right on the ocean. The prices…are very reasonable with a happy hour everyday 2 for 1 from 6:00-7:00 pm.More

I like to stay on the south side of Bandaras Bay when I visit Puerto Vallarta. There are not a lot of dining options. My friend turned me on to the restaurant at the Girasol condos, which is open to the public. The food is…delicious, the view spectacular, the staff warm and friendly and the prices reasonable. It’s also great for kids and grownups—it’s poolside, just above the beach. As I mentioned above, it’s a hidden gem, there’s no real advertising, you have to know it’s there. But well worth the hunt.More

Check in: Check in was quick and hassle free. Girasol Sur has a nice set up for owners renting their properties, Felt similar to checking into a hotel. Unit 501: Unit was cute and comfortable, felt like we were staying in a friend or family…members place. Had view of the beach and pool area, Noise from neighbouring hotel’s air conditioner was noticeable (as described in the owner’s listing) but that did not hamper us from spending time on the balcony. Pleasantly surprised we didnt notice any bugs, anywhere on the property, which in our experience is rare in Puerto Vallarta. Amenities: There is a cornerstore located off the lobby, prices were fair, only a few pesos more vs going into town. We were able to purchase necessities such as water, dish soap, toilet paper, snacks, beer, etc. The condo units restaurant was again very well priced, and happy hour was a good deal from 6pm to 7pm. The beach was nice and well maintained on both sides of the property, and great snorkeling as well. Lots of colorful, and wide variety of fish to see. Bus to and from town is 10 pesos, and roughly 15 minutes each way (depending on the time of day). The last bus from town is at 11pm, and 1030 from Mismaloya. Uber from the Airport is about 185 Pesos. Pick up on the other side of the pedestrian bridge and head about 50ft North. Overall a great property and great communication from the owners. Would recommend to others.More

Handy to the beach and pool, we had dinners and lunch while staying at the condo. Excellent attentive service. We especially enjoyed the chicken fajitas and shrimp meals. A word of caution with happy hour two for one drinks: you can ask for a delay…for the second drink and receive a cold one after finishing your first. Reasonable prices. We were lucky to come at not too busy times.More

We stayed in a penthouse suite here, and the restaurant is top notch. Great customer service, fast, and super fresh. We tried several things on the menu over a weeks time and you can’t go wrong with everything on the menu. Happy hour is 2…for 1 and the drinks are strong, so beware the “large” because you’ll get 2. 3.5 rating. Just got back from spring break there for one week. I will start with the positives. Grocery store, restaurant, bar and easy beach access. Bus and taxi access very affordable. Negatives: people were having pool boys save seats in the early a.m. and…not show up until 2. (Policy clearly states otherwise) pool deck, chairs etc need power washed every day. Lots of bird droppings everywhere. Room was decent but dusty and could use some updating. Also experienced gate hoppers so security there is an issue. One person told us other places gave them our code to get in. Bring your own beach chairs etc not available on property to use at beaches. I would go there again.More

I got dressed up a bit in flowing black palazzo pants & softly draping 3/4 sleeve jacket for our dinner at the restaurant at the Girasol Sur as I was worried about being chilly once the sun dropped below the horizon. We caught the bus…in front of our condo & were dropped off in front of the Girasol. We asked the security guard for directions on how to access the restaurant. We were directed down a staircase & to the elevator. As we exited onto the terrace, we noticed the intensity of people in the pool, on the beach, & everywhere. As we looked up & down the beach, we saw many condo towers. We never realized how busy that area is. When, we stepped out onto the terrace of the restaurant, I was delighted with how lovely it was. Huge waves crashed on gigantic rocks that flanked the terrace sent plumes of foam & misty sea spray into the air. The restaurant had a curved main terrace with rounded cement half wall that hung over the beach, a small balcony terrace off one side of the main terrace which had two tables, one which was where we were seated, & an open-sides palapa above the main terrace. There was a live band & a dance floor as well as seating in the palapa. We arrived before sunset. So, we watched the sky blaze with orange, red & hot pinks as the sun set below the horizon. While, a pale moon framed by the silhouette of palm trees climbed high into the sky. I had my third mango margarita of the day. But, it was a thin & weak contrast to the one I had at El Jacalito. I often find that HH drinks are not much of a deal. My husband had white wine that was on the HH list. It was the same Cab Sauv that we had been drinking at our condo & was quite acceptable. For dinner, I ordered the avocado stuffed with shrimp @ $150 p. I asked for the sauce to be served on the side as some restaurants over-dress the shrimp. I was very pleased with the presentation of my salad. Two huge shrimp in each avocado half were interlaced into a big knot. Another shrimp knot rested on the finely shredded lettuce that garnished the plate. The sauce was a very simple Thousand Island dressing which I used very sparely at the shrimp was very delicate in flavor & the avocado was very rich & creamy. My husband ordered the seafood pasta @ $185 p. He had the choice of white or red sauce. He chose the white which turned out to be a bit heavy. The amount of seafood in the pasta was staggering! Particularly, the amount of large shrimp. The seating on the terraces was plastic chairs. We soon learned why. Every so often, a roque wave would splash over the wall & soak one of the patrons on the main terrace! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the excellent service, the live music, the ambiance, & the views at the Girasol Sur. The entire evening including the tip was $600 p. Quite a bargain!More

Today I took a short tour of the property with one of the employees, a very nice lady named Luz.. she drove me to the condos and we visited both a standard unit and a penthouse, each with slightly different views, both views excellent. Luz also…showed me the pool and restaurant area where I found the menu prices very competitive and the selections were quite varied. Everything at the place was very clean and the residents I spoke with sang praises about everything. My guide Luz was very friendly and professional in her demeanor. She empressed me as the kind of employee I would want working for me. I will be recommending this place to my visiting friendsMore
