We highly recommend this restaurant. We are from California and this tops! Excellent service, amazing food.
I love sushi places and during our stay I’m craving for Japanese food. And it so happed that we’re close by at HISAO. Went in and look at the menu at was a fan of ramen and also a lobster and rainbow roll. HISAO RAMEN:…Presentation wise is good. And it’s their version of seafood ramen. They way it looks it appetizing until you taste it. For so many years being a fan of ramen this taste particular ramen taste we that maybe this is thier version so I ask our serve and the manager on duty if this particular dish is soury. But for me the umami flavor is not the flavor I’m expecting to ramen even this ramen is level up By the chef who creates it. Something wrong with it but they said that’s the flavor. And as a restaurant they know what their doin but I’m not goin to enjoy it. Fine thank you. Maybe it’s just me and my taste buds but I’m confident enough to know what the ramen taste like seafood, chicken or beef. Plus the egg is over cooked and the noodles is mushy. Not good at All. Definitely not a Ramen I wanted. Maybe for some but I doubt It too for those who loves ramen. It’s a no no. RAINBOW ROLLS: Presentation is nice but the flavor is meh. It’s not well season specially the rice and the toppings of typical rolls is so so. Bit dry to my likings. This is just a simple menu that something make some more effort to make it wow when it comes to taste because it’s basic. But A for The effort. If you ask me. I’ll eat it but that’s it. LOBSTER: As you can see in the picture. What You see Is what we got! This menu saves the night to Enjoy the dinner. For me it’s delicious. Simple straightforward but taste really good. Definitely will Come back just for this. Service is amazing and no questions About it. They were very accommodating ???????? Over all it’s a mixed bag of fish. Some good and some not so good. This restaurant has its potential but until they try to revisit the costumers review cause will hurting the business in the future. Hope this review help the future diners of HISAO. Cheers ????More
The hotel is gorgeous to start, all the staff we met were above and beyond kind and hospitable. Had dinner at this restaurant and could not have had a better experience. Diego and Vincent, I especially appreciate your kind services! I wish we could come…back a second time during our trip, but reservations do fill up. Plan in advance!!More
I spent 3-months in Japan, so I do know sushi. I would rate this restaurant as “average -to- fair” sushi. About as good as Whole Foods! I would say they need a better sushi chef and a larger variety of sushi and sashimi. For being…within walking distance to the ocean, I was disappointed. This restaurant is nice and there is hope for improvement. I had better sushi closer to Mexico City.More
If I could give this experience a 0/5 rating I would. The quality of the sushi was downright awful. The rolls were so large and disproportionate to the sushi. The cuts on the fish were so butchered. The fish was very mishandled. The combo of…flavors and ingredients in the rolls were odd and I don’t think we got quite the items we ordered. The waiter had no knowledge of the menu, he served my kid alcohol despite making it very clear we were asking for a non-alcoholic daiquiri. The poke bowl was no form of what poke is. In fact there was no poke in the dish at all. We left 75% of the meal untouched regretting the waste of money and an attempt to take a night off from all the wonderful Mexican food at our fingertips. Never again. Stick to what Mexico is known for. We were embarrassed that we even gave this place a try. We should have known, as we were the only patrons in the restaurant.More
Stopped by late at night to get a quick bite. Sushi was great! The tuna sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Saki was good. Even took a shot of some good tequila with my waiter. Owner of the restaurant was awesome. Kept me company at…the bar and was nice enough to keep the place open a little longer then usual so I could finish my meal and drinks. Great place! Great people! Next time I’m in puerto Vallarta I’ll be back.More
Let’s start with service. They were as attentive as servers in a Michlin star restaurant. Anticipating our every want and need. The food was fast and incredibly delicious. I had the pole bowl – an absolute work of art. Hubby had teriyaki chicken rice. Sumptuous….They provided and explained 5 sauces that came in the side. Citrus soy was delicious. Great waiters.Again, thank you for a truly great experience. Even helped us with our Uber!More
I was pleasantly surprised to find this place. The ambience, the food (sushi) and the service was great!
Located right off the malecon this restaurant offers delicious food, great service and a wonderful bar. The ambiance is soft and a nice break from the noise of the malecon.
Stopped by after the beach on Monday The good – Very clean – Friendly staff The bad – rancid salmon on rainbow roll – fried rolls have way too much rice and aren’t good at all – the two sake choices were old and didn’t…taste right especially the unfiltered one. I would recommend going somewhere else. It’s too bad because this used to be a good sushi/Japanese hibachi restaurant before being re-branded to its current form.More
Love this place. went twice in a week. Rolls are huge and just taste fresh. Service was very good and the prices are more then reasonable.
We had passed by this place a couple of times in the last few days and the menu caught our eye, so we stopped in to try it. It was amazing. We had some has the Tuna as sashimi, some salmon, tuna and white fish…as nigiri. The white fish was decent, the salmon and the tuna were to divine. The Tuna sashimi was so delicious, it was spicy, but not too hot, and for the light of heart, skip the jalapeño’s. The had the regular soy sauce and also a soy sauce with lime and orange juice that I was partial too. They had a wasabi sauce, an eel sauce a Siracha sauce, all delicious, plus a Serrano chili that they served as the perfect accompaniment to the sushi. We also ordered 3 types of rolls, the Philadelphia roll, Tempura roll and the Spicy Tuna roll. The Tempura roll and the Philadelphia were so delicious, flavorful and full savory texture. The spicy tuna was as good as any I’ve had, but we all preferred the other 2 rolls. We have a few more days here, so we have time to try a few of the other rolls. The cocktails were also unique and went down quite easily. The service and social distancing were also exceptional. Highly recommended!!!More
This was an unexpected delight! The sushi rolls are huge and the flavor excellent. The spicy tuna roll was our favorite. The tuna was excellent quality and taste with a powerful heat. Also, shrimp tempura roll has crab on it which made it extra special….The other amazing part was the cost. The lowest price I’ve ever paid for sushi anywhere but for high quality food. Our family of 5 (three teenagers) ate for around 60 USD. The service was excellent, each person was kind and attentive. I can’t say enough good things. Please try this hidden gem when in PVR!!!More
the atmosphere seems expensive at first but the food is super affordable and huge portion sizes for a sushi restaurant. everything was great (we had the philadelphia roll and fried noodles and some really interesting drinks) and they made us feel right at home, highly…recommend!!More
Hello Tori, Thank you very much for your comment! We are glad you enjoyed Hisao Sushi Bar.
I was impressed by Hisao and its menu, restaurant setting and employees. My friend and I are from USA and said it is definitely a place for “sexy dinner time.” Portions are large and the rolls were tasty.
