I’ve eaten a lot of good Indian food in multiple countries, so I’m careful with my expectations. I tried this place multiple times, but it is so uneven it’s not worth the risk. Service ranges from great to wholly unacceptable (long wait, got the order…wrong, later-arriving guests served out of order). Raita was unrecognizable and eatable (no sign of yogurt, smelled like old boiled eggs?). Curry was extremely non-traditional (I’m being kind). Good intentions are not enough.More
Food ranged from disgusting/inedible to incorrectly prepared/wrong flavor. Inauthentic, overpriced, bad service
Went a few years ago and it wasn’t good at all . Finally decided to give it another try. It has definitely improved. I’ll give it a 7 out of 10. We had 3 different curries and a veggie dish. Naan and rice. (Rice is…extra $ and doesn’t come with the curry) 2 curries and the veggie dish were quite good. The Lamb curry was basically inedible. Very very watery and small pieces of very chewie lamb. The samosas and naan was good.More
Got a takeaway tonight as just wanted to chill we ordered 2 vindaloos. Garlic naan. Veg pakora and rice wasn’t disappointed food was fabulous. Perfect heat to flavour ratio nice thick sauce food came within the hour and was pipping hot when arrived. everything was…intact no issue thanks for the perfect meal see you soonMore
Ordered via @uber eats, the food was spilled and the packaging was smashed. India Gate promised to call me back once I sent pictures and UBER responded with “will respond via an email”. Neither ever happened. When I called the restaurant they told me this…was NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND STOP CALLING.More
The samosa was stuffed with just mashed potatoes. The biryani was bland and it was just rice and meat, no almonds as advertized
.We have been going to India Gate for years and always enjoy it there. We found this time that the food was even better than previously. The garlic nan had more flavour and the butter chicken and lamb korma and basmati rice were very good….Better than two years ago. I would not rate my Margarita as high as the food. The service was also better this time than previous years. We did use to go on Sundays when they had the special price but I think we prefer to go on a different day and get better service (and food).More
Terrible service . We sat there for a while before anyone came to the table . All 4 people there were just behind us at the bar . Finally I called the waiter over by this time we were ready to order . We placed…our order . By the time we got the appetizer we still haven’t even gotten our drinks . We all ordered different curries , when the food arrived we realized they didn’t come with any rice , we were not offered or told that when we ordered. So we ordered rice and naan while out food just sat on the table getting cold while they were bringing the rice . It’s a shame service was so bad because the food was good .More
Visited this place during a recent trip to PV. We called ahead to get a reservation as we were a large group. The restaurant is conveniently located near Malecon and is easy to get to. Food was fresh and it tasted great. We asked for…it to be prepared spicy and it was quite spicy to handle. It was reasonably priced and there were quite a few options on the menu. Staff was friendly but the service was slow as the restaurant was short staffed. I would visit this restaurant again and I would ask for a reservation if traveling in a large group.More
I have been frequenting this restaurant for four (or five?…) years, and it delivers the same candid service, atmosphere, delicious food and original drinks every.single.time. Those few negative reviews must be either from competition, pr from clinically insane individuals. India Gate is among my top…picks, always. Special gracias to Luis who is a wonderful host and a pleasure to interact with!More
horrrrrrrrrrrrible..overpriced, bland, tiny servings..please tell owners to buy chat massala..or garam massale..or read a recipe ebook on Indian Food
I’m an Indian and this coming from me got to be authentic 🙂 our server – Lewis – was great with his service and took very good care of us. He even asked if we want our naan’s crispy or soft and offered to bring…onion salad on his own (which is a must with Indian food). The food was absolutely amazing and I’m not kidding when I saw it was better than most places in the Bay Area or even India!! What was most surprising was when Lewis made us meet their chefs – Lily and Angel, both Mexicans. Highly recommended – must try if you are craving Indian food in Puerto Vallarta!More
We loved it all! The food was delicious and the service was excellent too. The owner, Andrea, was super patient explaining the different options and accommodating our different requests (including vegan food), you can tell she has great passion and expertise for Indian cuisine. I’ve…tried indian food in india, london and the states, and this is definitely in my top favourite places! I definitely recommend this place as it also has a great location, so you can go for a walk around town and the malecón before, and then have a drink at a bar afterwards. We will come back for sure, thanks Andrea!More
We ordered the lamb curry, prawn masala, paneer masala, vegetable buryani, and for appetitzers got the samosas and the chicken tandoori kabob. Everything was amazing. Was worried about the lamb being dry but it fell apart and was so moist. Glad we ordered so much…because we just had the left overs for breakfast haha. My girlfriend says the samosas “were fire”More
Had a fabulous meal tonight at India Gate. Had chicken tikka masala that, while it didn’t taste like any chicken tikka masala I had ever had, was absolutely delicious. If you like spicy at all, ask for maximum spice. We also had a fish curry…that hit the spot. Ask for a Tamarind Luis, an amazing frozen concoction that Luis made up on the spot and will be adding to the menu.More
