First of all, as someone else has mentioned, the place is no longer called La Caipirina, but was renamed the “El Barco”. I had huge difficulties trying to report this to TripAdvisor as their so called help center does not allow you to report issues…like this. Furthermore, the site location on the Google Maps wiget that accompanies this listing places the restaurant on the other side of town from where it is actually located. I travelled there thinking to find it, but it ironically turned out to be just around the corner from where I was staying. If you need to go here, use google maps and search for the address of this restaurant, which happens to be correct. As for the restarant itself, the dining area is nice and open with tables outside fronting the street. I was looking this particular evening for a nice steak, so I wanted to give this place a shot. I ordered the rib eye, which was tasty enough, but with some reservations. I have had truly excellent large rib eye steaks other places, including at a restaurant in PV called Chenandos. The rib eye here was not at the same level of excellence as those places, although to be fair, the portion was managable and not gigantic as it tends to be many places. My main niggle was that I had ordered it rare. Sure enough, it did come rare, but was served on a very hot iron griddle, and as you can imagine, the steak kept on cooking – to the extent that I had to eat it very fast before it became well done. The owner offered me a nice dessert on the house though. Otherwise, the place was rather quiet for the time of night I ate there (8pm). When walking home, I passed by the Lukumbe restaurant, which is just a block or two away and noticed that it was packed with guests…More

I wanted to go to a Brazilian Steakhouse for dinner. I researched and found one with very good ratings. We get a taxi and off into the not tourist area of Puerto Vallarta only to find it was out of business. However, El Barco took…its place. We were all very concerned as the taxi driver drops us off. The host who happened to live in Gresham OR for years said “come in you don’t like, you don’t pay. What a great meal and experience. Much like a Brazilian steakhouse except they brought out all the meat at once. Then complimentary wine, dessert, then we befriended the owner and they gave us more drinks. As we asked them to call a taxi, the owners said we are going towards your hotel and they brought us back. One of the best meals and evening experiences we have ever had.More

You can’t beat this place . The service was excellent and fast. The dinner for 2 could easily feed 3 people. The sweet salad is the best I’ve tried in PV . They gave us a coffee cup as a souvenir. I’ll be returning every…trip .More

There are many excellent restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Most are located in heavily traveled tourist zones. But not all. La Caipirina Steak House offers Brazilian food in a city not at all known for its Brazilian dining options, in a quiet Mexican neighborhood just a…bit off the beaten path. I have eaten at other Brazilian steakhouses, in larger cities. They often feature mounds of meat for two or more people, for one price. That is also an option here, although you certainly can also order from their standard menu, which features quite a bit of seafood. We have always opted for the “10 meats” option. It starts with three salads, including potato salad, Caesar salad and a hybrid salad that I’m not certain of the name of, but it sure is good! Salads are served family style, as are the meats. When it is time for the meat to arrive it does so in waves, placed on a platter mid table. Sausages, chicken, pork and beef, some on huge skewers. It is amazing to see, and tastes almost as amazing. While some of the meat was a bit “chewy” for the most part I enjoyed it all. Service is prompt. On one occasion we struggled to find anyone working who spoke much English, while that was not a problem on our second visit. The menu has photos of the food, and if I recall correctly is bilingual, with English descriptions for at least a majority of the items. Beer and liquor are offered. Not being in a tourist zone, this place is unpretentious and casual in appearance. There is no air conditioning. Expect a dog or two to wander inside, as this is a covered but open air place. With the smell of all that meat who could blame them? Prices are unbelievably inexpensive. Startlingly so. I will just leave it at that. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with other popular dining spots nearby. It is about a half mile east of Costco, for reference, a few blocks from Francisco Villa.More

Went for a Brazilian cut but couldn’t get it. They prize their picanha but was unavailable. Ask for the best alternative and got a 3rd class ribeye marinated in lemon and garlic. My wife ask for a seafood salad that was great.

We were excited to try this Brazilian steakhouse and seafood restaurant after learning it was close to where we had moved. It is located about a ten minute walk east of the Costco in Fluvial, in an area with other popular restaurants. La Caipirina frankly…doesn’t look anything special from the street, and it isn’t a fancy place. Don’t expect air conditioning, but there are numerous ceiling fans to improve your comfort level in most times of the year. Service is fast and friendly, though very little English was spoken by those working on the night of our visit. Fortunately the menu is somewhat bilingual. A few things were lost in translation, but for the most part the ordering process went smoothly. The two of us ordered the meat platter for two, which comes with three salads: a lettuce salad, a very good potato salad, and a delicious sweet coconut, beet and carrot salad/slaw. At least that is what it tasted of. The two of us totally fell in love with it! Soon the meats began arriving, accompanied by a small bean quesadilla. All in all we apparently received ten (!) different meat dishes, including chicken, pork, sausage and multiple styles of beef. It was simply amazing to see it all brought out in several stages. I must admit that while most all of the meat dishes tasted delicious, a few cuts suffered from being overly “chewy”. It wasn’t a big deal. Perhaps the biggest surprise, food wise, was receiving a hot banana and chocolate dessert at the very end, just in case either of us could eat another thing. Of course we both rallied to consume every bite! The other big surprise was the rock bottom price when the check came. With tax it all worked out to about US$25 for the TWO of us, including a beer and several bottles of water. I guess good things come to people willing to dine outside of the tourist zone.More

I discovered this place several years ago, at the suggestion of my hotel. I love this place and visit it several times on each visit. The staff is great and the coldest beer in PV….not that I’m an expert hah But seriously, it’s fantastic and…I have never been disappointed on any visit. Only warning, you better skip breakfast and lunch because they serve you a lot of food. If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault. Big thumbs upMore

Have always loved Brazilian restaurants and finding this one was a pleasure. Staff were so friendly even though they couldn’t speak good English went out of there way to try and understand. The service and food was 10/10. My fiancé and I got the 2…person combo which defiantly filled us up. The meats were perfectly cooked and portions a good size. The 3 salads which came with the meal where amazing and special loved the so called Christmas salad. We both enjoyed the food so much that we went back again for are last meal at this amazing city. Throughly recommend!!! Lee (London, England)More

Great food, great people, great price. Brazilian style – lots of meat – steak, sausage, steak, chicken, steak, and… steak. Cooked the way you like it with good offers on beer and cocktails too. Many places hook you in with good food deals and then…screw you on beverages – not here. Small family place away from tourist zone. Approx 50 – 100 pesos from most hotels by taxi ($3-$5USD) and its about 100 yards from Costco ! Enjoy.More

This restaurant is great! The service was friendly and quick! We went there early around 4:30pm. The hammock is relaxing, the music is nice, service was perfect. We had all you can eat meat selections and the price was cheap! Ribeye, New York, and all…other steaks are delicious. I am so surprised this restaurant doesn’t have more reviews and popularity. The pico salsa is amazing! Chips are amazing. It was a ton of food and then they bring you chocolate flan dessert that is unbelievable! All in all this is one of my favorite spots in PV, we will definitely be back! Thank you thank you! Oh and heads up, lots of cabs don’t really know how to find the place so tell them right past Costco.More

We heard about this restaurant from other friends who live in Puerto Vallarta. We were staying in Old Town, so took a cab there, about and $8 ride. We got there early for dinner around 6pm. Honestly the staff was amazing, little bit of a…language barrier, but the have the menu in English so was great for us. We had the platter for two. ALL of the meat was amazing, cooked exactly as requested. The meal came with 3 types of different salads. Carrot, Potato and Caesar. Food and service excellent. We will definitely return.More

They have a good range if choices on the kids menu which I thought was…nice. My husband had the all you can eat meat plate which he loved and also very fun that they serve it on a sword. I had the camarón a la diabla which had great flavor spicy but not too much, I also like that the shrimp were deveined. Great service, very friendly helpful staff. Ps. If you have kids this is a good place to go as it has a sand box they can play in ????.More
