Once in a lifetime dining experience. Restaurant is rustic, historic, nestled in a tiny town. Sweet staircases and sand floors. The menu is a giant platter of raw fresh fish and meat from which to select. The staff is one big family who has worked…there forever. Everything is delicious.More
Great but a bit over rated compared to other places in Mismaloya . Abit hid in the petite town of Mismaloya , views are of jungle. Prices a but high , but not bad. Food was good
This is one of the most unique experiences in Puerto Vallarta/Mismaloya! Such an array of fresh caught seafood, in the most amazing setting. Delicious drinks and excellent service! Perfect for our 1-year-old to toddle around in the sand, and the staff was so sweet with…him!More
This location is hidden and off the beaten path. This is where you come for an authentic Mexican cuisine experience. They have an incredible selection of fresh caught fish, including but certainly not limited to: red snapper, mahi, lobster and shrimp. Our family of eleven…were treated with the most thoughtful and attentive service. Both floors of the restaurant are covered in sand, which really adds an additional dimension of authenticity. Very children friendly, as we had 3 young girls with us who were able to play in the sand and be preoccupied. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend for a remarkable evening. I would have returned with my significant other had we had more time in mismaloya. Worth the trip from Puerto Vallarta. Just go to mismaloya, it’s well worth it.More
We always make time to go the La Choza when we stay in PV. We have been going there for 18 years and hope to carry on for the next 18! We have seen it passed down from father to son and it’s an absolute…joy going there. The mango margaritas are the best and the seafood is always fresh and cooked to perfection. If you have not eaten here, you are missing out on an unbelievable experience!! It is well worth the time.More
A family owned restaurant in Mismaloya. The menu is a platter of fresh fish. Always the best meal of our trips to Puerto Vallarta
This is the same review I posed on Tony’s Hideaway since these are the same restaurant in Mislamoya. We ate there twice on our recent visit to Mismaloya. The menu is simply a platter they bring to your table showing their options for the day….Our choices included a beef filet, beef, beef and shrimp, and shrimp k-bobs, red snapper, mahi-mahi, coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, garlic shrimp, chicken and a seafood combo including pacific lobster, mahi-mahi cooked two ways, shrimp. Our table of 8 samples most of the food (with the exception of the chicken). The coconut shrimp was the best in town, the filet was reported to be cooked excellent and “melt in your mouth” quality. The bacon wrapped shrimp was wonderful, and snapper was great, the beef and shrimp k-bobs were very tasty, and the seafood combo was more than two people could finish. The margaritas, Miami Vice, and pina coladas were well made, very tasty. The Flaming coffee, and kahula and coffee after dinner drinks were great (the flaming coffee was reported to taste like an almond joy in a cup). We also had the queso and chorizo appetizer . Our total bill out the door was about $270 for 8 of us. We found the coconut shrimp to be better than El Jacalito (writing a separate review for this location). The atmosphere was great, the service was outstanding. One of the staff was always nearby and made sure everything we wanted was there quickly. This place is a bit off the beaten path, take a taxi there or do a little hiking/exploring to find it. We visited on two separate occasions and both experiences were great. This will be a regular stop for us on future visit. I hope your experience is as good as ours was.More
We loved this place so much that we went 2 nights in a row!! It’s so fresh and yummy! Caesar was the best server and talked to us since it was a slow night in July. We can’t wait to go back here next trip!
Went for lunch after a tequila tasting in Mismaloya. What a great time! Family run place, fresh seafood and meat, good drinks, has it all. Love how the menu is a platter of the main courses (see photos already posted). Typical prices as compared to…Puerto Vallarta in town. Snapper, shrimp, mahi-mahi were all great. Excellent margaritas. After a tequila session, this hit the spot. Very scenic and high so you get the breezes, however, it does not have an ocean view. Will absolutely go the next time we come. Orange and white bus to Mismaloya, 8 pesos each was as of March 2018. Bus stop is at Basilio Badillio and Constitution.More
No written menu. The waiter brings a platter of fish and steak entrees to choose from. Huge margaritas. Food was delicious and extremely casual dress. A fun time
We were recommended to La Choza by a friend of the owner we meet in Boca. This place was one of the best dinners we had while in Puerto Vallarta.. We will defiantly be coming back to visit and Dinner at La Choza.
True gem of pv???? Family owned business of 30 years that makes you feel like family. From the staff to the food you are welcomed in as if it’s their home. Getting to this location is half the fun…. So well worth it and glad…we were able to get there. Can’t wait to share with all my New York friends who visit here every year…,More
Wonderful out of the way restaurant with excellent food. We go every time we visit Puerto Vallarta. Always have the free coffee night cap! Delicious.

We were staying at one of the nearby Condos, and with rain threatening, we decided to have an early dinner nearby. We asked one of the locals and they directed us to La Choza. Good choice. We were greeted and directed to upper floor, which…would have been somewhat of a challenge to some. Upstairs we were greeted by Marco Antonio and soon the totopos and salsa Mexicana appeared with our drinks, followed by a plate of complimentary nachos. The waiter brought us a tray displaying the catches of the day – lobster, whole redfish (huachinango), giant prawns, fish fillets and a brochette of beef and prawns. Since there was no written menu, we had to ask for the prices of each dish. My wife had the brochettes and I had a selection of the giant prawns – two coconut, two bacon wrapped and two grilled prawns. Both dishes were accompanied by rice, mashed potato, and a small salad. They were nicely presented and very tasty and would definitely return on our next visit. Car parking could be a problem and credit cards are not accepted. Cash only. AivarsTMore
