Our party of 8 attended for supper tonight. So many good memories sitting in the beautiful courtyard here. And more were made tonight. Half of us ordered the coconut shrimp and the other half Mahi Mahi ordered their favourite way. Everyone was giving their meal…a 10/10. Marcelo and his team are so fantastic, friendly and good at what they do as hosts. Do yourself a favour and go check it out.More
We were out New Years Eve in PV, the other 3 places we tried closed early. La Fonda said they were planing on closing early for a private party, but welcomed us in. The food and service was wonderful. The Mahi in white sauce was…the best I’ve every had. Thank you for the memorable New Years Eve.More
Fabulous. I hope I caught your attention. Go. Walk the 2 extra blocks. You will need the exercise after having such a fabulous meal. The 4 of us all had different entrees. Again, fabulous. Our 4 Entrees: Coconut shrimp, stuffed shrimp, fish special (mahi-mahi), chicken….Delicious. Please, I encourage you to walk 2 extra blocks on Basilio Badillo. And enjoy a scrumptious dinner. The service is great. The meals were so much better than others we’ve experienced on this street this past week. Walk, run, get there. Enjoy your dinner.More
Location is perfect – right on Basilio Badillo’s “restaurant row” right off the bus stops. Cozy courtyard or indoor dining. My favorite is their coconut shrimp with Abuela’s (grandma’s) mango recipe.
We were two adults that ate dinner at this restaurant on February 28, 2020. This is a small restaurant with perhaps 12-14 tables in the dining room. In the back there is a courtyard with 8-10 tables, where we chose to eat. It is very…nicely done and away from all the noise from the street. My partner elected not to have a first course. However, I chose the soup of the day, which was tomato and basil. Excellent. (Next door to this restaurant is a place where you can buy various homemade soups to take home with you.The restaurant owner owns this place as well. ) For the main course my partner chose the Arrachere steak, juicy Mexican style marinated steak. I chose the stuffed shrimps, stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. A very generous portion. Both dishes were first rate! In terms of wine, the menu states there is only house wine available. This is not accurate as they have a selection of other red and white wines. We chose the Pinot Grigio, which was a very good choice. For dessert we shared a chocolate cake with a big raspberry on top!! It was such a very cute dish. It was also delicious & decadent!! A real winner! In terms of service, we were very fortunate to be served by the owner. Once he discovered that we were from Montreal, he told us that he had worked in Montreal for a few years. From there he went to work in Barcelona, Spain, a city that we know very well. At one point his mother became ill & he returned to Puerto Vallarta. He eventually decided to return permanently to Puerto Vallarta and opened this restaurant. We also got to meet his lovely wife. What a charming couple they are!! No hesitation in recommending this restaurant. The menu is limited but everything they do they do very well. Do not forget to ask to sit in the courtyard. It was so quiet there and you could actually have a conversation, which is becoming a rarity in Pueto Vallarta! Washrooms were very clean.More
The food is always delicious. We go there at least once when we visit PV. It is a great restaurant on a busy street so you can watch the action as you eat. If you like it quieter, there is a small courtyard in the…back where you can also enjoy a fabulous meal.More
The service is really good! I ordered Sopa de Tortillas and Caprese Salad and was delicious! Piña Colada is the best in PVR!
My partner and I are staying in a nearby condo and decided to try this place as we walked by and looked at the small but interesting menu. We also liked the soft music, something that is not easy to find on this noisy street….I love music, but I also like being able to chat over dinner rather than having to shout into my dinner mate’s ears, as is required at too many places in this area.. Many places crank their music to deafening volumes, which I hate. We ate in the dining room close to the street because we enjoy watching people walk by. But this restaurant also has a quiet back garden which looked lovely. We also loved everything we ordered, and enjoyed watching the chef prepare the dishes in the open kitchen. We had delicious spinach salad with strawberries and candied almonds. My partner raved about the coconut shrimp with mango sauce and I loved the stuffed chicken breast with feta. We both loved the perfectly cooked vegetables and rice served with it. Dessert was a moist Chocolate flan. Prices were very reasonable, and service very friendly. Even with so many good restaurants in PV we have already returned twice because we enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much. Can also recommend the delicious tortilla soup, ribs with green sauce and the small side order of green beans with almonds and vegetable stir-fry. All perfectly prepared by the chef. This location is also ideal for a meal before or after a show at Act Two Stage.More
We were looking for a casual spot with good food and a nice outdoor eating area… and La Fonda was perfect for just that. Our table was on the back patio, which is tucked behind the restaurant & drowns out any noise from the busy…street up front. The meal was enjoyable – Mahi and Arrachera Steak were the highlights of the menu for us. We got a bottle of the house wine which turned out to be a Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva from Chile. Very tasty, and complimented the meal well. You will want to go to this spot!!More
This restaurant is located on Basilo Badillo, in the old town. Behind the dining room is a patio that is not too obvious from the front; nice if you want to eat outside without hearing the noise of the street. Service was fast and very…friendly. I would say that the menu is limited. It’s posted outside if you want to look at it. I had the grilled mahi-mahi which was very good. Good thing I had skipped the appetizer because the fish came with veggies and rice and I was full afterwards. Reasonable prices for the old town. As my title says, a nice place to eat in the romantic zone.More
Thank you Marcello and Laurie! We really appreciated your hospitality, service and amazing food. You made our stay in Puerto Vallarta extra special. If you’re anywhere near Puerto Vallarta, you must include La Fonda on your list of ‘must visit’ restaurants.
Six of us shared some small plates incuding the mac and cheese and prawns ajillo. One of our group is not fussy about seafood and loved the prawns. We then shared some main plates including a steak – cooked to perfection, best coconut shrimp, and…the stuffed chicken which was delicious. This restaurant is a hidden gem away from the crowds with a lovely garden. Reminds me of how Vallarta used to be!!!More
My mother and I visited this wonderful restaurant. The reviews were not mistaken Preferring to eat in the back courtyard we were tucked away from the busyness of the street. We sampled the guacamole and chips, garlic shrimp and shared a main meal of grilled…mahi mahi. All cooked to perfection. One of our best meals in Puerto Vallarta. Menu isn’t extensive but each dish was great. Both seafood and steak. Service was friendly and informative. Most enjoyable. Going back. Just across from the Act 2 Stages, it makes a very convenient place to dine prior to a show.More

We stopped in because we had heard such great reports about the soup. Well, we had tortilla soup , a salad, dessert and coffe plus tinto vino! Everything was very tasty, nicely presented and good value. The setting in the courtyard is very pleasant. It…is truly a gem. We highly recommend La Fonda for the great food and service. Please go, you won’t be disappointed.More
