50 peso pollo quesadillas that are out of this world. Do yourself a favour and take the walk away from the standard 1-2 blocks from the beach. You will not regret it.

This place is amazing. We couldn’t get into Panchos Takos due to an hour wait so we walked 5 minutes to here and the al pastor tacos were better and we actually got to sit inside a restaurant immediately. We are never going back to…panchos again!More

People talk about Panchos Takos in Zona Romantica and Pepe’s Tacos in Cinco de Diciembre. I believe this place is better than most. The food is awesome. You get radishes and cucumbers with tajin to start. An awesome condiment selection. The tacos and quesadillas are…awesome and huge and full of flavor. And they are reasonable priced. Plus you don’t have to wait in line for an hour and the. Sit on the sidewalk while pedestrians walk by you while you’re eating. To me it’s the best in town.More

One of the better taco places in town. Was a famous taco stand now a soon to be famous taco restaurant. Blows Tacos Pancho’s out of the water with never a lineup. Good service. Nice clean washrooms.

Down the block from our Airbnb. I keep ordering the al pastor tacos. They’re my favourite and this place makes the best. They use wood to cook the meat on the trumpo – that big stack of meat they carve from. Last night we popped…in for a snack and there was 2 food tours at the same time. If you have never tried a real taco before this place is at the top.More

We discovered this taqueria on a food tour several years ago. This year while in town for a week, we ate there 3 times. We love the fact that they are family owned, very friendly and patient with our limited spanish skills. One time there…was a mistake on an order (probably due to a translation error on our part) and they remade it quickly and without any fuss at all. If you’re in the area, please give them a try!More

I saw this place on a You Tube video by the Kinetic Kennons and knew I had to visit. On our first visit, they had no tripa tacos so we left and said we would return.. We returned 2 days later. I had the tripa…tacos and an al pastor. Hubby had beef tacos. The al pastor didn’t blow me away however the tripa tacos did. I had them without and with beans. I prefer them without the beans. Hubby thought his beef tacos were average. The total for 6 tacos and a can of soda including a tip was $7.50 US. I would definitely return for the tripa tacos. They say they open at 7:00 but it’s more like 7:30. The actual entrance is on Naranjo. No English is spoken here so brush up on your Spanish.More

This small restaurant is the real deal and certainly worth the effort to explore. If you enjoy good Al Pastor then this place deserves a try. Once you have tried it, you will most likely return. (If you have been to or heard of Panchos…Tacos, this place is better and no waiting in long lines or cramped little tables). Friendly staff, clean and delicious, another plus is that after dinner the “street churro” man is just around the corner.More

This is the best taco place in PV. Pastor Volcanes are my favourite and they cook them over a wood fire, not gas which gives a great charred taste to the edges while the best is still soft and flavorful. The tacos are all great…and cheap, with lots of lime, cucumber and radish on the side, plus they sometimes have roasted (almost caramelized) onions if you like that. Randomly closed sometimes, the only downside.More

We have been going to Las Gueras for the last 5 years. We have always found the food to be fresh and excellent. Open at 7pm. Best to get there at 7:10pm or so as it fills up quickly. To finish your meal they make…custom crepes which are also delicious.More

A friend of mine recommended this restaurant so I wanted to check it out. I am so glad that I did, it is a little off the beaten path of the El Malecon, but still a short walk. I ordered 12 Taco’s, I tried every…kind they had, and they were all fantastic. They also have a nice selection of sauces and toppings to put onto your Taco’s. The service was quick, I had a glass bottled Coke, and my friend had some purple root drink, I forget the name, I tried it, pretty much no taste but I guess it is supposed to be really healthy for you to drink, there were a lot of people drinking them. The Taco’s came out fast! They are a little on the smaller side so that’s why you order so many, but that does not matter because they are very inexpensive. I added my sauces and inhaled the Taco’s, then ordered some more. And almost as good as the food, was the fact that it only cost me about $3.50 US, yeh, you have to love that. 🙂More

We stopped here as part of our Vallarta Eats Tacos After Dark tour (you NEED to do a Vallarta Eats tour by the way). This place was so good that we came back another night! This place is so good and the prices are fantastic….Great service and such great tacos and homemade salsas. If you want great tacos for dinner, you have got to try this place! You can order outside and they will bring it in to your table with all of the fixings to go along with your tacos.More

I am always searching for the best flavor experience any where I travel. This place not only didn’t disappoint, it blew me away with amazing flavors. We had the al pastor tacos and first bite was incredible and it got better from there. The spicy…avocado salsa was delicious and perfectly tuned to heat without killing your taste buds. My husband and I were lucky to be staying right up the hill from this amazing find. We ate there each night for 4 nights. You can’t beat their al pastor tacos – the seasoning was just right, the fresh pineapple and corn tortillas delicious,…and the minced onion and cilantro added a touch of brightness – no salsa needed. 4 tacos were about US$3.50 total. They seem to be open for dinner from 7pm onwards only. This tacqueria appears to be featured as part of a local food tour that highlights some of the best foods in the city. Go find out why it made their list.More

Having fallen in love with the Mexican style pork meat on a spit some time ago, I found this place after venturing out to find the best of the best. It is now my standard ‘Al Pastor’ place to go to in Vallarta. There is…no better one in town. Sorry, Pancho, your no way near. El Carboncito comes in second, too, but by a wide margin. “Las Gueras” is packed with locals all the time, not gringos queuing up on the street, that says it all. Ridiculously good value, fresh tortillas (corn or flour), smiling service and a master at the spit. If you go here, watch the guy preparing the meat, it’s as Zen as meat on a spit gets. Topped with pineapple chip, so good! Their green salsa (hot!) is out of this world, the best I have found in Mexico, and I have looked quite a bit. Every time someone asks me, “Which is your favourite ‘real street food’ Mexican restaurant?”, I tell them “Las Gueras”, and those who know it just nod and say, “Yes, they are amazing.”.More
