After crossing over the Insurgents bridge we walked down the steps to Le Bistro Restaurant, which is located in the small plaza on the Isla Rio Cuale. It is nestled among the trees along the river bank where white egrets wading through its shallow water…and the soft bubble of its fountain gives off an air of romance. The lobby and bar are made of stone and marble, which along with statues and a grand piano give of an air opulence The restaurant owner Humberto Esparza a friend of American Film producer John Huston, had sculptor Carlos Ramírez create a Bronze Statue of him sitting in a chair in the plaza, to celebrate the 25th year of the making of his film The Night of the Iguana. Unfortunately for us, it was Mayday when we decided to visit the restaurant for lunch, and it was closed. TIP: Call to see if they are open and make a reservation so as not to be disappointed. As a full-time Vallarta resident I look forward to resuming my weekly brunch outings now I’m vaccinated and restrictions are relaxing. Le Bistro did not disappoint! The service was great, Sergio made me feel welcome and clearly wanted me to have an enjoyable experience. My…mimosa was bubbly, the expresso muy fuerte, the Eggs Benedict were perfectly poached with a lovely (and plentiful) Hollandaise sauce, complimented by a varied selection of fresh berries and fruit and a side of very tasty potatoes. Perfection! Sitting out on the riverside and the white linen table clothes all added to the lovely ambiance. Even if the Rio Cúale is pretty low!More
This is a great place. The bartender, Alesandro (Alex) makes the best margaritas in town. We only had salads, but they were excellent. All the servers are also very personable. We went back twice after finding the place.
Was excited to see they reopened. Stopped in for breakfast. Such a beautiful setting. Great decor and even better location. Food was extremely good. Our Eggs Benedict and Shitake omelette were awesome. The service was outstanding. Prices very good. Love this place
Yup, the food needs work. Breakfast here had one undercooked set of fried eggs, pancakes with raw batter in the middle and a mushroom omelette lacking taste. The setting along the River was beautiful, wry kind and attentive waiters. It the food… Presentation was very…good also as were the prices reasonable.More
Sergio our waiter was amazing. Chilled. Beautiful. Relaxed. Cool. High class. The place to relax and watch the iguanas in the trees over the river.
Le Bistro is a very comfortable restaurant located on the Isla Rio Cuale with both indoor and courtyard seating on the Rio Cuale. This place has ambiance in spades. The staff are efficient and really fun. Their breakfast menu is extensive and the presentation of…the food is outstanding as well as delicious. Prices are very reasonable and we have returned several times to try other menu items. My companion and I both highly recommend this beautiful restaurant…!More
I am so glad that this special place is open again. It was closed last time we were in PV. We had a very special Sunday breakfast here. They let us wait patiently for the right table to open up as they were busy. The…food was presented very beautifully and was very tasty. Service was little scattered but they took good care of us. We were not in any rush! As always, beautiful environment next to the river.More
Le Bistro is so good I am planning a return visit just to try more delicious dishes! Tonight was our second visit in two weeks- everything is made fresh in the restaurant. The hot rolls had just come out of the oven- I have never…had such a fresh roll at a restaurant. The cobb salad with homemade ginger sesame dressing was unique and very healthy with different types of lettuces- I could have made a meal out of the Cobb salad alone. But no I had to try the steak with grilled veggies and garlic mashed potatoes- delish! Then our wonderful waiter Jaime suggested hot chocolate volcano cake- it melted in our mouths. It was freshly made also. So impressive and the ambiance is so romantic- right on the Rio Cuale. Super sax player while we dined- definitely recommend Le Bistro!More
My friends come here often for breakfast but we came for an early dinner one night as we’d heard the place gets very busy later on. The entire experience was delightful, the margaritas were very good, and the food was superb. I had the sea…bass and my friends had the steak and the prawns. We were delighted with our meals and highly recommend this restaurant. I am anxious to return! 🙂More
We’ve been to Le Bistro ~12 times last winter & this winter. Several times for breakfast, a few more times for brunch, twice for lunch and a few times for dinner. Each time we remarked about how friendly and engaging the people are. The servers…speak excellent English and are truly happy to see you and make you feel welcome. One time our grandson wanted to order a pizza at 10:45 in the morning. The cook agreed to turn on the pizza oven and prepare the pizza but cautioned that it taken 15 minutes to warm the oven and 15 minutes to cook the pizza. Not a problem. We usually had a great table by the railing overlooking the river. Time seemed to pass quickly. Whether it’s their great omelettes, Eggs Benedict, oversized sandwiches or great dinner selections, the food was outstanding. We’re surprised we haven’t heard more about Le Bistro. If you’re looking for a relaxing meal with great food and a wait staff that makes you feel truly welcome, give Le Bistro a try.More
Through a recommendation, we had a lovely and delicious dinner at Le Bistro. It sits on the isle Rio. Perfectly lovely. The special was prime rib. Absolutely delicious. Each night they have a special. Jimmy and Raul were our waiters who gave us time so…as not to be rushed. The river water was perfection clear with egrets sitting around. Great setting and a great place for dining. We thought the prices were very good, not extravagant the excellent taste!More
We went on a Sunday night. The restaurant was very empty, which was strange, but it was very nice. We sat at a table right next to the river which was a very nice scene. Overall, the food was really good. The fresh made bread…was excellent too. And the pricing was very fair. The only reason I would only give a 4/5 rating is because I thought the service was kind of lacking. Maybe it was a bad night, but for the restaurant being as dead as it was, we weren’t given much attention. Either way, I would definitely go back again.More
First of all, we made a reservation but then were told at the restaurant that they did not have one for us. It didn’t matter in the end as we were only one of 3 parties there (bad sign). Then imagine our surprise when it…took forever to get any service and that service delay continued throughout the night. The food was mediocre if not bad. The 5 of us agreed the best thing we were served was the fresh home made bread. Would never return hereMore
Dined at Le Bistro for every visit over the past 15 years. The best for dinner as well as breakfast/brunch. A 5* in my book!!
