My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday around noon. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess who also brought over a bowl of freshly made salsa de molcajete. The salsa was delicious and also a tad spicy which we…loved. We ordered the sopes surtidos (one of each) and we also ordered a large pozole surtido. Everything tasted great, we will definitely be back again!More

This little place is mostly packed with locals. The food is good and cheap. We ate here a couple times during our three week stay since it was close to our condo. My favorite was their chili relleno with rice and beans. The relleno was…one of the best ever. I usually don’t like Mexican rice since it’s dry but the rice here was excellent along with the beans. Also tried tacos dorado, enchiladas, and tostados. Tried a couple of their desserts, cheesecake and flan. The cheesecake was different than any I have ever had, more like a cake texture. The special Lolitas Flan was one of the best I’ve ever had. Browned and caramelized on the top and only 55 pesos, $2.75. Small inside dining room and a couple of tables on the sidewalk under the ribbon decorated tree. Service can be slow at time so pack your patience. Mostly Spanish spoken.More

Santo Tacote @ Av México 1132, 5 de Diciembre is a small restaurant near Casa Ley grocery store. They have 3 tables right on the street & about 1/2 dozen tables inside. Their specialty is hamburgers & steak. Wife had the double hamburger with bacon,…came with fries & onion rings. I had the small ribeye that included fries & a small salad. Everything was outstanding. Including a beer & a mojito, the bill was less that 700 pesos or $35 US. Looking for a good steak or hamburger, head to this place. Great service, too.More

Stopped in this quaint little diamond in the rough. 2nd best decision on our 10 night stay. I ordered the special which had a chili relleno, chicken enchilada, cheese quesadilla, flank steak with warm tortillas and a pork tostada. My wife had a chicken quesadilla….Everything was outstanding. To top that off they gave us a bowl homemade salsa that was the best I’ve ever had. When we go back to Puerto Vallarta this will be a must. I wish we would have found it sooner.More

Great Pezole soup. Okay for breakfast too. Looks quaint but must be clean as we ate there twice and didn’t get sick.

This restaurant is just a block or two beyond the Malecon in Centro. It is a place that offers daily comida corrida specials but also a full menu. I have wanted to try this little local place for years and finally got around to it….This is as authentic as you get. We got ala carte things and shared… Enchiladas, Chile relleno, tacos dorados, and chips and salsa. All was very good, but I had also ordered a small bowl of posole, since I had heard about it for a long time. It was the best I’ve ever had. The mild delicate mix of spices in the soup was wonderful. Also I want to give a shout out to the servers. I wish I could remember the name of our server, because she did a great job. All the servers seemed very nice and friendly toward us. Now that we have finally gone, we will probably start going a couple of times on each of our annual visits. Give it a try! This place goes back decades and there is definitely a reason for it to have survived so many years.More

We stayed at one of the large hotels and were sent to touristy Mexican restaurants in the Central and Romantica zone. We literally stumbled on Lolita on the walk back to our hotel one evening. Lolita is one of the oldest restaurants in PV and…is a hole-in-the-wall. Probably 5-6 tables inside and 1-2 outside. But it was the best authentically Mexican food I ate in my week in PV – and also the cheapest. Meals were about $5. We had great posole, and wonderful mole, and then proceeded to come back the next morning for Huevos Rancheros and tacos, tacos, tacos because they were so good. And yes, you can also get your brain tacos and your tripe tacos… if you are so inclined. This is the kind of food your abuela would make.More

I ate here today with my girlfriend and the food was decent but cheap which caught our attention. The first problem was that our waitress never checked on us throughout the time we ate there. And at the end the total came out to 259…pesos and I paid with a $50 American bill which is 949 pesos and they returned to me 150 pesos less than what I was supposed to receive. When I went to ask the manager they said that they converted my $50 at 16 pesos per dollar. Their reasoning was because the bank next door charges 17.5 pesos per dollar. The other day I went to the bank and received 18 pesos per dollar. But they said there’s nothing we can do. Even if the bank charges money conversion at 17.5 pesos per dollar, that is the amount they should have converted as well, not the 16. They basically finessed for extra money. No other restaurant in PV has done this to us and this is honestly upsetting and we will not be returning. The food was not that good to make up for the poor service.More

Love this little place for typico food. So cheap and good. They have added a few tables outside under the tree that makes it nice. Good friendly service. I tried the enchilada, four with a red or green sauce with chicken, cheese sour creme and…lettuce, very good. Husband tried the tacos dorado. You can have all the same or one of each kind, four. Different meats and potato..good.More
