Seabass wow. Fernando is a great chef. Ceviche was outstanding. A fantastic experience. Peru, unknow cuisine but!!!!
It was fabulous… amazing food, warm hospitality, and a very personal experience. Skip the menu and just ask Chef Fernando to bring out his choices. This works especially well for groups. Closed circuit TV lets you watch the action in the kitchen but it’s still…like magic.More
You must try this place. To begin, the decor is intimate and so inviting. Peruvian artwork surrounds you and high mounted TV’s let you watch the masterful chef/owner prepare your meal. Start with the Peruvian Pisco Sour and progress to ceviche prepared like you’ve never…had and expertly served by Leslie. Most main courses are stir fry with chicken or shrimp but our favorite is the Lomo Soltado made with the finest beef filet. Unfortunately we were too full to get the homemade flan which no doubt would have been delicious. Don’t miss this one!More
A great restaurant. The food was fantastic. Don’t miss this while you’re in PV. There is a nice private dining room upstairs that can accommodate a group.
Peruvian bomb shell! Stumbled upon this local neighborhood restaurant just down from our VRBO. Beautiful food cooked by a sous chef who has experience all over the world. He wanted to open a simple Parisian style restaurant with great service and beautiful food. It won’t…let you down.More
Very, very disappointed. After reading great reviews and also through recommendation from a friend, we went for dinner. We ordered beers, cans of which were unceremoniously planted on the table with zero offer of a glass to drink them out of, this in a restaurant…where they try to push an overpriced Pisco sour on you but have no drinks menu so unless you ask you have no idea of the cost of your drink. I later read they charge 190mxn for the Pisco sour. That is almost US$10. A can of Modelo, with no glass, was 55 pesos, which is fair and what many places charge these days in nicer more upscale restaurants. This whole experience turned out to be far from upscale. I ordered a wok cooked chicken noodle dish, straight off the menu. Three times the waitress returned to the table and questioned my choice and made me feel quite uncomfortable about what I had chosen. Her overall attitude was somewhat abrasive throughout our dinner. I did regret my choice as when it was served it was just a greasy pile of vegetables and noodles. Sure, the veg were all nicely al dente but it was very plain and overwhelmingly oily. I ate some of it but the oiliness began to make me feel nauseated. There was no point complaining as I couldn’t have eaten anything else by then. My partner had a wok cooked vegetarian dish which he also found very basic, uninteresting, completely lacking in flavor and excessively oily. We will absolutely not go back and struggle to understand how they have become somewhat popular. Neither the food nor the service we experienced justify the prices they are charging. Two thumbs down from us.More
I went here with my father and we really were impressed with what Chef Fernando has done here. This is the only “Chifa” en Vallarta, Peru’s & Lima’s unique fusion of Cantonese Chinese and Peruvian tastes and excellent seafoods. It was my first time tasting…Peru’s famous Pisco Sour which was wonderful. We also had Peru’s famous Ceviche starter with Andean potatoes, onions, sea bass and the wonderfull ‘leche de tigre’. So delicious. We both had the Sea Bass, daily specials and mine the Macho version came with shrimp, wonderful crab/jaiba, muscels and calamari with crispy fresh veggies and the most delicious sauce imaginable. Two unique things here is the restaurant is Chef Fernando’s house which he so warmly welcomed us into. Another awesome thing is cameras are set up in the kitchen and you can watch him wok cook your food and immediately bring it out to your table straight from the wok to your plate! A dining experience we will never forget and I will be back as soon as I return to Vallarta. Muchisimas gracias Chef Fernando!More
This restaurant is CASH ONLY. When we called for a reservation, we spoke with the owner. He asked if we had ever been there before and we said no. No mention was made that it is cash only and so we were not prepared when…we arrived and had to cancel.More
Fernando is a highly skilled chef with worldwide experience throughout his multi years in the restaurant industry. Puerto Vallarta is lucky to have him open an intimate dining experience in his own home in El Centro. We ate at several highly touted spots while visiting…PV (LaCapella, Cafe des Artiste, etc) but the food and experience couldn’t compare. We had the chef serve us from start to finish with his choices and were not disappointed. Our favorites were the Red Snapper ceviche, Dorado (just caught) over a vegie stir fry, and the best pisco sours ever! Watching Fernando prepare the selections from the TV monitor next to the window seat added to the fun. The cost of the meal was very reasonable, the staff were attentive…overall, our best meal in Puerto Vallarta!More
We made reservations at this restaurant for our last family dinner of our trip. The restaurant is located in the house of the chef, Fernando. Our party of six were seated in an upstairs room. The stairs are a bit steep and entirely painted yellow….They are attractive but a bit difficult to navigate. The chef immediately came up and greeted our group and discussed several menu items and specials of the day. He suggested that we try the pisco sour (national drink of Peru) which were very tasty, but pricey at 190 pesos each as we found out when we got the final bill. Fernando offered complimentary appetizers for our group (egg rolls or ceviche), and we selected egg rolls which turned out to be vegetarian. It was a nice touch to start the meal. My wife and I shared the Peruvian Lomo Saltado (beef tenderloin with tomatoes, red onion and potatoes). The meal was served in a large bowl and contained 4 very tender pieces of beef. There were lots of tomatoes and onions but only 4 slivers of potato (similar to large French Fries). We would have preferred a few more potatoes, but the beef broth was very good. We were also served a side of rice. Other family members ordered the shrimp stir fry and the chicken stir fry. Both looked very good with lots of vegetables. My mother ordered the fish special of the day which turned out to be a very large portion of fish that she could not finish. Surprisingly, the fish was the most expensive meal that we ordered. Every room has a TV monitor that allows most guests to watch the chef preparing the food.More
Final went to Peru Peru and couldn’t get in w 2 friends; it was full up. Made a reservation for the following weekend for 3. I ended up passing by on a week night and thought I could pop in for a dinner, nope, full…up. So, made a reservation for the following night for one, early, to beat the crowd and being respectful or the seating limitation and keeping my reservation for the weekend. When I arrived the chef owner was all about, we can’t seat one. We don’t sit a party of one for dinner (Even though they were not busy). Saying in a disgruntled/pissed voice, I made a reservation for 1. Finally, was seated and he tried to socialize his way out of the really great customer service. Ordered the steak and would have been good however, over salted, I mean way over salted. The red wine, horrible. Now I’m pretty liberal and compassionate with my restaurant critiques having been a chef in San Francisco for years, but the wine sucked. I remained courtesy and polite through the whole experience but it was getting difficult. No one came by to see if things were fine or needed anything. Only when my plate was taken away was, I asked if I wanted another glass of that horrible wine. The insult to injury was my bill was $515 pesos. Laid out 700 and got short changed I called them on it and an apology was given as was correct change at that point. I don’t think I can keep my reservation Saturday. Look, I realize people love this place. I can see it has a following. I’m just basing my opinion on my experience! Just no BuenoMore
Exceptional Peruvian food in a quaint space. Chef Fernando is very skilled chef with decades of experience. The beef in the lomo saltado was so tender and the ceviche was fresh. Definitely worth a visit.
A completely wonderful experience! This lovely little corner restaurant is also the home of the amazing chef and he immediately makes you feel comfortable. We didn’t know much about Peruvian food and he made the perfect meal for the 4 of us with our diverse…tastes (one vegetarian, one meat-lover, one fussbudget and myself who likes really tasty food). We started with the vegetarian egg rolls and the excellent Pisco Sours. I’d never liked Pisco before but this so smooth and tasty. There was a fabulous sauce with the tortillas. Then there was the best Ceviche I’ve ever had – so good my daughter even ate it and she NEVER eats fish. Then we had the stir-fried steak which tasted sublime. Dessert too even though we were too full. Really though the best part was the wonderful host and the family atmosphere. So worth it!More
We were looking for a restaurant at the end of our Gallery Walk evening and came across this totally wonderful surprise of a restaurant. As my son said, “sometimes the universe throws you a lifeline and you’ve got to take it”! The place doesn’t look…like much but it is really quite an experience. I was greeted by Fernando, the owner and chef, who shook my hand and said, “welcome to my house”. Yes, it is literally his house. After we sat down, he asked if he could order for us and we were more than willing! Drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. We could watch him cook our meal from the closed circuit TV. The food was fantastic and we were blown away by this gem of a place and the warmth of Fernando. Don’t be afraid to try this restaurant…you will be glad you did!More
Great food, drinks a little pricey, we went mid afternoon and asked for a table for 3. The inside was empty (3pm start) so I asked if we could move to a nicer table by the window. A waitress said “no, esta mesa es para…4 personas “.. and then put a “ RESERVED” sign on the table which would have been completely understandable if the place had been busy. No one else sat inside during our OMICRON time visit. There was no need for that type of attitude so the tip was significantly reduced. It’s a cute place and very good food but that type of attitude let the place down.More
