Never know when this is open. Very inconsistent. Good place for a few cold beers. Prefer Langosta loca next door but it’s a nice change.
This is our absolute favorite place on the beach – they are exceptionally attentive, friendly, and the prices are so fair. When so many other places on the beach charge for chairs, these guys are fair and don’t charge for them. It’s nice that their…beach is roped off, so you aren’t overwhelmed by vendors all day. They bring you popcorn as a treat during the day and their food for lunch is solid. We’ve been going to PV for years and will always go to Red Onion for beach time.More
Terrible service. Weak drinks. I’m not sure what we did or said to be ignored. Friendly exchanges but waiters ignored us after initial drink order. I wanted to order food but did not have a chance to do so. Worst service I’ve ever received in…Vallarta and I’ve been coming here for years.More
We walk by The Red Onion on our early morning walk on The Malecon. It looked to be well designed….the seating closest to Malecon had tiles underfoot, tables and chairs in the sand as you got closer to the water’s edge. One afternoon we stopped…for late lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our shrimp quesadillas, grilled just right and refreshing beverages. The kitchen is across the Malecon. The food came to our table under a plastic dome, arrived hot and delicious. I tried the pizza on a different visit, equally as delicious. It’s a great location to watch the sunset and enjoy a meal.More
Wonderful Cherry Pizza and drinks. We have been here several times. Service is excellent and bathrooms clean. Beach is roped off, vendors will not bother you.
This has become our favourite beach-side spot in Puerto Vallarta, and its not just the location (as there are many beach-side spots to choose from). Its the staff – Rosa and Cesar. These two fine people knew our names after the first visit and have…a wonderful way about them that makes it feel like you are visiting friends. Both are highly attentive and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. The margaritas are among our favourites in PV, and the food is average and on par with what you would expect from a beach-side cafe (burgers, sandwiches and a really great salsa!) Will certainly be spending more time here before we leave!More
We stayed close to this beachfront restaurant for a week and visited many locations while we were here and found ourselves returning here again and again. The service is excellent the food is absolutely delicious (shrimp quesadillas are unbelievable) and the mango margaritas are literally…the best we had in all of PV. Our server was Rosa and the bartender was Martin. I HIGHLY recommend you come and see them during your stay.More
This is our go to place to have a margarita with our feet in the sand. They also happen to have the best guacamole and nachos in Puerto Vallarta. We look forward to seeing Rosie who takes excellent care of us and always remembers our…names.More
Several of us spent a couple days recently at this beachfront restaurant. We were seated at a table with our feet in the sand, and our server, Rosie, came around often to check in with us. At the suggestion of my friend, I ordered the…shrimp burger (200 pesos) which was grilled shrimp and cheese on a bun. It was very good and was served with fries. During my second visit, I had the cheeseburger (180 pesos) which was also a good choice. The margaritas were also good and are 2×1 all day (130 pesos).More
In the past 4 weeks I have been here 3 times. This beach restaurant is in just the right spot for your first margarita of the day! We also had the barbecued chicken pizza which is excellent and not too pricey especially for the Malecon!…This beautiful spot is great to stop at for food or drinks!More
GREAT… Ambiance – patio or seating on the beach Service Drinks, delicious Reasonable cost given the location
This is a nice beach bar located beside The Burro Bar. The servers speak good English, and they have a good bucket of beer special (6 for 175 pesos which comes out to buy 5, get 1 free). I liked that they offer Dos Equis…Lager and Amber as beer choices in addition to the typical Corona and Pacifico. There is a rope fence that separates the beach from the restaurant which keeps the stream of beach vendors from getting too annoying. I only tried one item from their small menu (cheeseburger & fries for 175 pesos), but it was quite good.More
This was our first visit to The Red Onion, which is right on the Malacon south side. They offer good options with chairs & tables on the beach as well as on the patio with umbrellas. Small menu at lunch, 2 for 1 margaritas, we…had the chicken nachos which were excellent as were the drinks. Very reasonably priced and definetly another visit will be made before we leave PV. Waiter we had Ceaser was very good and helpful.More
The sandwich I had, a BLT, was very small with thin bread, small slices of over cooked bacon. Two small thin slices of tomato and one very small leaf of lettuce. If it had mayo, I didn’t see or taste it. The fries were few,…small and over cooked. Our server was attentive but had more tables to wait on then she could handle. I have lived here for fifteen years and found other restaurants in the area charge about one half the price with twice the value.More
From the moment Tino welcomed us onto the Red Onion’s beach space, we knew we had picked the right spot. Friendly servers: Rosa and Cesar were very attentive and efficient. Drinks were perfect and there was never a feeling of being rushed. We will definitely…be regulars at this great restaurant and bar.More
