Toks Is always a reliable choice in Mexico – and I’ve been to many in many cities. Clean, modern, efficiently run with polite staff. The food is always reliably tasty and prices are fair. Their sopa Azteca is always excellent.
I enjoyed Toks so much the first time that I ate here more than once during my week in Puerto Vallarta. I had several good meals here, but in my head, the pozole verde with turkey was a rockstar. On a trip filled with good…food, that was the standout. The staff was friendly and was very patient with me, allowing me to try my really bad Spanish.More
Really good Mexican dishes. Beer & wine only. Reasonably priced in casual atmosphere. They actually have a real smoking section in the patio!!!!
This is a very comfortable and clean restaurant with a variety of food choices. It’s downstairs from the hotel (One Puerto Vallarta Aeropuerto) – so it’s very convenient – Food and atmosphere are both great! Prices are reasonable for what you get. Not a “destination”…restaurant, but definitely good for a weary traveler. If you like beef try any of their arrechera dishes. They know how to make it tender and flavorful…More
I’d eaten at the Toks Restaurant several times when it was in Plaza Caracol. So, staying at the One Hotel, I was glad to see it in the complex and open after 9pm. Not much of a selection nearby, otherwise. Toks is a chain, above…the median range (decor, food, price). The decor is dark wood and modern. The other patrons were all young nationals. Virtually no English was spoken. I speak some Spanish, but if I asked a question (both times), there was only one waiter who could understand my question. Had the mole enchiladas one visit. 126 pesos. Reasonable and the mole was tasty, but the tortillas (around the enchiladas) were dry and chewy. My waiter was very nice and friendly but, again, had to get the one English speaker, when I had a question. Same thing when I went back for appetizers and guacamole. The atmosphere is stark/dark — almost like a cocktail lounge (though the staff is friendly) — probably because it caters mostly to young Mexican business people, which is the main clientele in the adjacent One Hotel. They do take-out (para llevar) to the hotel and there is an interesting magazine rack (news stand) as you enter, but —- other than that — it’s not something that most tourists would frequent, unless you’re really hungry after 9pm coming into that hotel. OK but nothing special in food or ambience (except for the nice service people).More
The restaurant looks very nice and the staff was wonderful but the food was awful needless to say! Very expensive and also the food presentation was nice but just don’t eat it! I am definitely not recommending this place. Unfortunately after that bad experience we…left for a walk and within a few yards there it was a mini mall with lots of food choices at a half the cost!More
For at least a year 3-12 friends and I have visited this restaurant after Sunday church services. I have always enjoyed the large menu (a bit pricey) and good food, but the wait service just seems chronically disorganized. Today my friends waited 40 minutes after…we ordered to receive just our drinks – 10 minutes longer to receive our meals! We are all accustomed to a different sense of time here in Mexico, but not to this extent. It confuses me, because all the wait staff are courteous and seem to be trying (running around sweating). We have complained about this several times, especially when one of us specified twice she had a flight to catch and her order was served LAST. I hope TOKS will take note of this and address the situation.More
Service by the staff was attentive and friendly. You can only get sangria, wine or beer. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to a margarita. Food was uninspired, and available elsewhere at half the price with better taste. My meal was drenched in chipotle…sauce and drowned out the taste of the fish and shrimp. My friends stuffed chicken breast looked like the frozen ones you buy at the grocery store. Don’t waste your time or money. I won’t be back. I was very disappointed.More
Bright and clean but too pricey for what you get. Staff not attentive to your order and when it is take out you just grin and accept it.
This Toks is like any other, so nothing much to say. The quality of the food is as good as in any Toks. Which is good to know, there’s a good standard. Prices are ok, a little bit on the high side. The service however…is slow. We were there on a midweek night. There were hardly any customers, but the food was super slow. The waiter itself was young but very service orientated! Inside the restaurant has the new house style from Toks. Very nice design. The music is played softy which is also very good. Nice experience!More
