Arrived about 15 mins early and had a cocktail at the sit up bar. Staff was very congenial. Our table was promptly ready for our reservation time. We had reserved the teppanyaki experience and were not disappointed. We had chicken and catch of the day…(mahi mahi). It came with rice and vegetables and there was definitely enough to complete out meal. There is an extra charge for fried rice as opposed to the steamed rice. Efrain was our cook and he put on a good show and even allowed time for videos and photos. We were celebrating our 40 wedding anniversary and were presented with a free dessert. Will definitely be back. It felt chilly when we arrived but after a minute it felt very comfortable especially at the teppanyaki seating area.More

The place looks great and we were exited to go here. We made reservations but when we got there 90% of the tables were empty. The first thing we noticed was the menu didn’t match the website and was very hard to read. We ordered…some beers and were presented 2 CANS of beer which the waiter poured into the glasses. He left the cans on the table. Next we get a salad and I inform the waiter that I have no napkin or silverware. The waiter brings me a knife only. I ask if I will get a napkin and fork. He gives me my wife’s salad fork and finally comes with a napkin. In fairness my wife’s meal was fine but she gave me a lot of it. I ordered a steak and half of it was fat and the other half was very chewy. The muni said it came with mashed potatoes but I got two 1” square dishes with unknown substances. This restaurant is an illusion of a classy place. Extremely expensive and very low quality. The waiter asked how I liked my steak and I told him it was not great. He said he would tell the chef but I never heard from him. Frankly my dinner should have been free because it was so bad. Please don’t go here!More

Excellent food and service here- you can order the Fish of the Day, which was always excellent and more affordable. They can serve it to you Tepanyaki style while sitting at a table for 2 (don’t need to sit at the big party table).

Truly a great experience! Of 4 nights in PV we had dinner here twice. Coming from Miami we have an ample supply of sushi & Teppanyaki restaurants, but these folks are super friendly and appreciative of your visit. The food is good and the service…is a “Homerun”! Even the Manager lady from France will come to the table. Family of 6, we had a great experience.More

Our cook was still learning how to cook on the teppan grill. It was his 4th day. That didn’t brother me so much, but the quality of the supposed fillet mignon was a joke. It was dry and hard to chew. The shrimp were big and…ok tasting. The shrimp tempura was ok,too. The meal wasn’t up to par for our taste. We’ve eaten Japanese food all over the US and this restaurant needs better training and a better quality of meat for being such a pricey place.More

We just had dinner at Mikado during our trip to PV. We were a bit tired of Mexican, Italian, Seafood and Steak and decided to try some Japanese. The food was great. Our son fancies himself a connoisseur of anything Japanese. He was super happy…with the food. The service was great, our server Christian took very good care of us. The ambiance is very nice. Definitely a nice chance of pace while dining in PV.More

The worst tepanyaki ever, the lobster was burnt, the ribeye was terrible quality. They definitely don’t know how to cook fried rice. Will never go back or recomend it. Also way to expensive.More

We had dinner at this restaurant on our 2nd night at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta. Reception staff was pleasant and efficient. This restaurant has a bar, teppanyaki and regular tables. The dining area was clean and nicely decorated. Tables were well spaced. We decided to…order off the menu. Starters were spring rolls and vegetable tempura. Both were served hot and crispy. Vegetables were fresh and firm, not soggy. Yellow fin tuna and salmon sashimi were served next. Both were fresh, buttery and tasty. We split an udon soba with vegetables, shrimp and beef. The serving was generous. Glad we shared it. Service was outstanding. Wait staff checked with us throughout the meal. He made sure things were ok. He also gave us enough time between dishes. We did not feel rushed. Overall a good place to have Japanese food.More

Excellent Japanese food in MX! we ate here as a couple in February 2022. Because of Covid, we decided to sit in the sushi area rather than the hibachi. Good choice it was very loud and noisy back there. The service was excellent. We started…with the appetizer platter that was four samplers of spring rolls, shrimp tempura, chicken satay and dumplings. Then we shared a ribeye and shrimp grill with vegetables and rice. It was perfect. We will definitely visit again when we come back next year.More

We had a very disappointing experience tonight. First off, they were nice enough to seat us immediately without a reservation. Restaurant was nicely decorated with a nice pond out front. Food and prices was a different story. We immediately noticed how outrageously priced the sushi…is. Even more expensive than some of the high scale, well-known places I’ve been to in the states. One piece of nigiri for 90 pesos? Are you out of your mind?!! We ordered udon. $25 US. What in the world?!!. We were expecting soup with a lot of noodles and steak. We ended up getting something that resembled chow mein with a very limited amount of noodles saturated in this disgusting greasy sauce and over cooked steak even though they asked us what we wanted and we said medium. Even my young children were disappointed as well. Come on Marriott, you can do better. Definitely put a bad taste in our mouths during an overall amazing vacationMore

The hostess was absolutely horrible. She’s was rude and unpleasant to us the moment we walked in the door. She made a huge fuss, that we booked a reservation and didn’t select the teppenaki seats, however there was no option to do this on open…table. So not sure who’s issue this is. She then proceeded to tell us our reservation was at 7 and we were early, so we sat in the waiting area. 2 mins later she told us to follow her and she took us to our table. The server, was trying to rush our meal and rush our ordering making us extremely uncomfortable. Food as usual was excellent.More

We dined at the Mikado restaurant on November 8, 2021. Our last experience was nearly 10 years ago, when the attached hotel was called Casa Magna. It is now a Marriott. The restaurant is a shadow of it’s former self. Our first time there, in…2011, the Japanese esthetic and authentic cuisine was brilliant. Light tempura, outstanding sushi and a fine selection of Japanese dishes. Even the pickles were the real deal. Ten years later and apparently a string of chefs, the place is so dumbed-down as to be unrecognizable. A Dragon roll was fried and covered with a sugar or honey wash, loaded with cream cheese. Really? The gyoza seemed from the frozen section of COSTCO, an attempt at an egg roll was a soggy mess slow cooked in oil that needed changing. The house specialty of teppan yake was bland and uninteresting. Even the pickles, a Japanese mainstay, were sad little offerings in water- not even any vinegar. Again, Really?. We won’t be going back. As a diner, you’d be better off going to the chain called The Sushi Factory where most of their rolls have cream cheese but they tell you with a smile, “Hey, it’s Mexican sushi!” . In conclusion, it’s a shame that the Mikado of 2011 has been downgraded to this. On the other hand, most of the diners looked like they just walked in from the beach in flip-flops and shorts. They mostly seemed delighted with the food. Perhaps you will be too.More
