We love Puerto Vallarta, but a lot of the restaurants are nothing special. La Fina, on the other hand, is both original and unpretentious, in an out-of-the-way neighborhood. Charming staff. Generous, delicious food. Make a reservation.
Excellent Food, and good service, small so get reservations. Large portions, plan to share. Pork belly taco was a standout. Also enjoyed the rib sandwich and the fresh snapper. Especially appreciated the salad of mixed greens and figs. Seems you never can find fresh veggies…in Mexico. Always the same mix of cooked squash, carrots etc. Out of the way in the hills. Going easy but difficult to get taxi back. Either Uber or walk back about 20 minutes into old townMore
Words can’t express how good this food is. My wife and I were staying in PV for two months and hit a lot of restaurants, and this is hands down the best. We ate here 4 times. We are foodies and know good food, and…I might have to say this is the best food I’ve had in my life. After the first bite I had of the shrimp and marrow taco I said out loud “holy sh*t”! Then I had the short rib taquitos and the mole was the best I’ve ever had. The catch of the day is an amazing piece of fish (red snapper when we were there), but I would recommend trying other, more complex dishes. On our last visit I had the Lamb Birria Quesadilla and I was speechless. SO GOOOD! Also, the neighbor is amazing. Off the beaten path but close enough to walk back to the romantic zone. If you are in PV, come here. You will not be disappointed!More
One of the best meals I had during a 6-day vacation in PV. Charming location, attentive staff, and inventive, well-prepared meals.
What an amazing find! La Fina is the type of restaurant that shows off their love of local ingredients in their food and presentation. We were very pleasantly surprised by the culinary options and flavors. The service was friendly, helpful and professional. Each dish was…full of flavor and love. I will be craving this restaurant for a long time! My husband wanted to go back a second time but they had no reservations available for the rest of the trip (they re that good). HIGHLY RECOMMENDMore
I visited here with friends for our first dinner in Puerto Vallarta. The drink list is long and I loved the Aperol Spritz. Everyone loved their meals .. I personally wish they had more vegetarian options but I did try the portobello dish and was…pleasantly surprised. Loved that we could sit outside and enjoy the festive ambiance!More
This was our first time at this restaurant we happened upon it quite by accident as our Uber took an odd way and we drove past it. Reservations are definitely a good idea/needed. We had to book a few days ahead of time but it…was worth the wait. This is a lovely meal that can’t be rushed so take your time and enjoy.More
i was invited by a friend to the this restaurant in a barrio, what a fantastic experience. from the decor. very casual like a home in Mexico and that is what the restaurante is, the chef cook in his home . the most delicious food,…the service is great all done by family member.More
This was a real surprise. I didn’t find it based on recommendations, but just by luck, perusing Google Maps. I clicked on the icon, read a bit and decided to give it a try. I was taken aback when asked if we had reservations…given the…neighborhood, the size of the restaurant, and the numerous open tables. We were lucky enough to be seated, in the bar, and what a terrific meal it was! Lots of people talk about the lamb quesadilla, and rightfully so. Husband had the pork shank — meltingly delicious. All the dishes were highly flavoured and savory, very yummy. The restaurant quickly filled up, and the servers worked hard to keep up with demand. This was a real find,More
This was one of the best meals I had during this stay to PV. I came here based on recommendations and the only reservation time I could get was at 9:30pm, so I made that work. I’m so glad that I did. The drive there…was not long but definitely outside of the main tourist area. The place was so small and quaint and the service was great. I had something with beef tenderloin that was amazing. The ambiance was just right for a lovely meal. Highly recommend adding this to your list.More
The food here is fabulous. This chef can really cook! It was as good as any fancy restaurant in PV, but off the beaten path. My favorite dishes were the flautas and the drunken shrimp. Our only issue was that the food took way too…long to come out. The place opens at 7 so every table sits and orders at the same time, and I assume there is one chef. Our 3 course meal took almost 3 hours, and with big gaps between courses you lose your appetite. I think they just need to figure out the timing or scale up the kitchen.More
The food was amazing. Great flavors and creative dishes. Service was above average and acceptable. Very off the beaten path which I liked but the neighborhood didn’t seem to be very good.
Very small intimate dining area, basically their front porch of their home. The food was all freshly prepared, and all nicely presented. We were statements by nearby in a condo so it was a nice short walking distance.
There are plenty of good, French, Italian, etc. restaurants in town. But, as a part-time resident, I can find better when in the U.S. Here I want traditional Mexican dishes, even if in ex-pat/tourist places (like Repollo Rojo or El Brujo; Mexican fusion (El Dorado,…La Palapa); or what I would call fine Mexican cuisine–Mexican ingredients used to create exciting and incredibly delicious dishes. This is in the last category, and I have yet to return from dinner there without feeling that it was among my best meals, including at some of the best U.S. and European restaurants (and at a fraction of the cost).More
Soooooo good! Fun to get into a neighborhood and try something new. We sat inside and the ambiance wasn’t as great as outside, but the food was outstanding. Innovative takes on classic Mexican dishes. Great drinks. Highly recommend.
