This restaurant has been closed for about two years due to the death of the owner/chef Benjamin. A true loss to the Vallarta dining scene.
My husband and I ate dinner tonight at this small family-run business in the Romantic zone after walking by and looking at its menu earlier in the week. The Step-Mom is the chef and her son is the host/waiter. I had probably the best meal…of my entire 3 week stay in PV at this restaurant. My dish consisted of huge shrimps wrapped in bacon with an warm apple salsa, which was a daily special, and my husband had chicken coq au vin, also a special. Both dishes came with perfectly cooked vegetables (broccoli and carrots), rice and an artistically cut tomato. My husband’s dish consisted of two chicken breasts with large mushrooms in a wine sauce and he had enough to bring a portion home. Mine was so good that I finished every bite. The family was very friendly and welcoming; we made sure to thank the chef for her excellent meal. We hope to go back later in the week for the flan dessert, which was highly recommended on this site, but we didn’t have room for it after such an amazing meal.More
Followed a sign which took us up an unassuming street to find this resto. Very authentic, rustic, charming, very refreshing from sterile restaurants with over-polished wine glasses. Super-charming service by Sébastien, beautiful fresh, tasty and plentiful food (lots on offer) and even some entertainment by…two guitarists who were doing their rounds. Sure enough, the decor is a bit rough around the edges, but it adds to the charm of the total experience. Very reasonable prices, personal service, can’t go wrong.More
Come back to this restaurant every year. Great fresh food. Small intimate atmosphere. Have brought many friends here and everyone loves it.
Some friends introduces us to LaRhonda last year. We returned last night and have a great meal, good drinks and appreciate the charm of the owners and son. This small restaurant is cozy and full of life. The menu has a good selection of fish,…meat and chicken dishes. The fresh salsa and guacamole and chips given to start you off are good. We got the Red Snapper and Giant Shrimp dishes last night. Both meals were very good and came with veggies and rice. A balanced and very tasty meal. Then there is the service which is genuinely friendly. If you want to try a homestyle meal with a true Mexican feel this one is worth the visit. We will be back yet again this visit to PV!More
The molcajete is a dish not to be missed. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. Limited seating. Off the beaten path, but worth it.
This was a neat fun little gem!!! There was 9 of us and they had to do some suffling to get us in… staff is so so friendly big menu for a tiny place… guacamole was so delicious and salsa everything was very good… loved…the chili Chilli rellenos… excellent the octopus was so yummy shrimps here delicious over all good home cooking and Sebastian is guite the guy!!! It will be a yearly must go to… it was a great fun eveningMore
This family-run restaurant is small but charming. The family who owns it will make you feel at home, and there is lots of fun and interesting decor to look at. The food was all delicious – we especially loved the whole fresh snapper. They brought…out the beautiful whole fish to show us before cooking it and you could tell it was super fresh. All of the food tasted like it was cooked with love. Definitely check this place out if you’re in Puerto Vallarta!More
This is a delightful little restaurant. There appears to be a family running it, so it’s like having home cooked food which was excellent. They offer both Mexican and seafood dishes. They’re open for lunch and dinner until midnight (they are closed on Mondays). Check…it out. You will not regret this little gem!More
My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant as we were looking for another place and we stopped in and had chicken fajitas and a margarita and a strawberry daiquiri. Everything was absolutely delicious. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend.
This is not fine dining. More like a home cooked Sunday dinner. Nevertheless, it is reliably fresh food and friendly service. More often than not, you will be the only ones at this eclectically decorated small restaurant. One brother is the front man, while the…other and his wife do the cooking. Although the menu is quite large for such a small place, we have enjoyed everything we have tried. The specials (coq au vin and cheese stuffed shrimp) are particularly good, as are traditional Mexican dishes. Don’t leave without trying the crème caramel flan. Prices are quite reasonable, as they should be for this unsophisticated place. On Aquiles Serdan (one block over the bridge into the Romantic Zone, and half a block up from the bridge road) this place is a bit away from the majority of tourist places, but still within easy reach of old or down town. While I would not go far out of our way to find here, it is our go to place for a healthy but unpretentious meal at a good price. Let me know if you found this helpful.More
Simple authentic atmosphere and a welcoming host made for an enjoyable seafood meal. Octopus and fish fettuccine was tasty and Val’s giant shrimp in pistachio sauce was excellent too. Great value.
I stayed at a little hotel directly across the street from this restaurant, so the convenience factor was great. Treated like a queen from the owner – super accomodating – ate there twice during a five night stay. One night the garlic shrimp was enjoyed…– thank you for a great couple of dinners! DebiMore
Very simple but amazing and satisfying meal near our hotel. Unexpected gem on a quiet street. The fish was grilled with garlic perfectly and the shrimp fajitas were fresh and flavorful! It’s nice to get away from the main tourist traps and go to a…neighborhood place. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.More
We were out for our Friday night dinner and went back to LaRonda. We come here every time we’re in P/V. The food is fantastic, great service and tasty margarites.
