We ordered a shrimp ceviche appetizer and it took almost an hour to arrive. The shrimp was raw and it wasn’t in the sauce we ordered. The waiter told us it was ok, but we sent it back. We ordered chicken nachos. That took more…than 30 minutes to arrive. It was terrible!! It was dried out chicken and the cheese was burned! We asked for salsa which never arrived. When we got the bill the tried to charge us for the ceviche we returned! Bad experience!! We won’t be back!!More
just now NEW First of all been coming to Swells for about 9 year. Living here now and last year. Come about once a week. Best coconut shrimp in town. Tell everyone and tag on Facebook. Came by today for breakfast. The first time Adrian…waited on us. He speaks pretty good English. We speak a little Spanish so I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding. We told him we wanted to order one plate with one egg and one plate with two egg’s. He said do you want rice and beans with that I said no just the eggs then we order two green juice, one coffee and two fruit plates, and one water or two glasses of ice. The eggs were supposed to be over easy and they were barely cooked super runny. And there was just a little bit of fruit on the plate so then Speedy came over to help us. I said we had fruit plates and he said he must’ve misunderstood so he brought us one fruit plate. The bill came back at 580 pesos. There’s no way this is correct speedy was very helpful and felt bad. Sent the bill back two times to you and he said no correction and I said this is ridiculous. We live here and we won’t be back. Speed he said sorry, but you could not adjust this. I’m hoping it was not the owner. And that we be can offer us some type of a credit. It’s not the amount of the money. It’s the principle we like your restaurant and your servers but we will not be back if there’s no compensation. 1 egg side 30 2 eggs side 60 2 green juice 100 estimated Coffee 40 1 water 2 glasses 40 estimated 1 fruit plate 85 355 total This what should of be, would have been happy with something close but was overcharge $12 us per their menu Mike and Sue Lopez Owner just argued with me multiple time wit no adjustment Felt like I have been overcharged in past because they scribble on note pad that you can’t read and in the afternoon after a couple drinks I just let it go. Wasn’t drink this time do I was sureMore
This is hands down the best beach bar to hang out at near the water. The service is amazing!! They frequently came by to check on us, make sure we had drinks, shade, etc. the chairs are also way more comfortable than other places further…down the beach. The prices for food and drinks are great. The salsa and guac were amazing, and the shrimp (we got butter and garlic as well as coconut) were really good. In our 6 day vacation we came here 4 of the days, and we’ll definitely come back next time we’re in PV. Also, worth noting, they have super clean bathrooms.More
If you haven’t been to Swell beach bar on playa Los muertos, give it a try!!! You won’t be disappointed!! The entire staff is absolutely the best, they work together to make your day the best day!! The food is great too! If you like…salad, try the Australian with fresh fish or shrimp. Also, the stuffed avocado is muey Bueno!!!!! Feeling like a good ole grilled hotdog? It’s delicious!! Enjoy your Swell of a day!!!More
Is to die for. Great beach spot. Comfortable chairs/loungers. Excellent service. Good place to relax.
Been going to PV for 14 years. Finally went to Swell Bar on the beach. Will not go to another beach bar besides Swell again. The service, food, etc are way above the others. If you want front row loungers you need to reserve them and…there is no extra charge for them no matter if you’re front row or not. Had BBQ wings 3 days in a row they were so good. The prices were barely higher than the other beach bars. My wife and I loved it. We were there April 19-26 2022. Enjoy!!More
So so so bummed that the owner went this direction. We have loved Swell a long time and love the waiters too (Speedy etc etc). The owner has decided that the prices should be very close to the US. We were there for a couple…hours and the bill was $150 US. 2 well Margie’s each and a couple tacos and Guacamole. It pains we to write this but I could eat fine dining with a sunset view in the rest of PV for the same prices. $14 well margaritas (with tip). The place is still crowded (it takes people a while to find out the new reality) and if you are on vacation it’s no big deal. The issue is that you can do much better other places and eventually it will be known what strategy he has taken. He used to cater to the expat crowd and now it’s about the short term payoff. Too bad. We will have an amazing dinner/show/and drinks tonight for the same price as our short stop at the beach at Swell… Hard review to write but I am loyal to businesses that are loyal to me and don’t get me wrong I am not on a fixed income and prices are up everywhere but I hate tourist traps. .More
Our go to beach spot in PV. Great food, drinks and friendly servers . Lounge chairs and towels available. Credit cards accepted
Gorgeous water views and both my friend and I had salads. She had the watermelon with shrimp and I had the Cobb with chicken breast. Everything was fresh and delicious. Good service and relatively inexpensive.
While the food was absolutely nothing to write home about, the Mojitos were good. The service was fair. Women bathroom was very clean, a plus for me. I did however, enjoy the location to catch some sun and chill. Also, a whale and calve performed…for us in the distance in the bay. As a side note, instead of paying to whale watch, we caught one up close during our water taxi ride to another beach called Yelapa and also caught one performing in that bay. So I saw whales 3 times without paying for whale watching which was my initial plan. People told me that they paid and didn’t see one. Of course it’s whale season in the bay. Okay back to Swell Beach Bar. I do not recommend for expectations of an awesome meal, but good drinks and great location!More
After years of spending time 3-4 times per year in this neighborhood, Swell has become my favorite place to hang when I have a beach day. They have good menu options for food and drinks. The prices are good and the food quality is also…on par. Best of all is the service. Please bring pesos/cash and tip them well. These guys work so hard to care for you while there. They will provide complimentary towels and umbrellas if you wish. They have a good variety of food options and drinks. I love the pepino margaritas here. Relax and enjoy. Note – in the Covid era they have minimized their seating to account for proper distancing. The staff is all considerate and wearing masks as well – another reason to add a little more to your tip when you leave.More
Since we had our teens with us, we decided to find a shady spot to have drinks, food and enjoy the beach. Swell Beach Bar has friendly service, cold drinks and good food. We enjoyed our nachos (yummy beans on them). Josue provided wonderful service,…and when we returned the next day, we sought him out to sit in his section.More
Lovely to sit on a beach lounge chair under an umbrella and enjoy great service, food, and drinks. Tables are set apart for Covid standards.
We always try to vary the places we go, including on the beach. Swells has made that hard for us, as we find ourselves going back again and again. Location is great. Chairs are loungers, beach recliners or standard hard chairs. Towels are complimentary. Drinks…are good, beer is very cold. Food is always good, with many choices, but may not be as refined for some. What sets Swells apart from the others is the service. Fast, friendly and spot on. It’s a great team that work well individually but even better as a team. Best service on the Beach!More
Have eaten here on every trip to PV and have never been disappointed. Service was solid on this occasion. Check it out.
