Lazy afternoons in the shade with a beer listing to live music. Romantic evenings with reasonably priced food and wine. Great seafood enchiladas. Excellent, friendly service. Just go!

Nice little jungle hideaway right on the Rio Cuale next to the wooden suspension walking bridge about 5-6 blocks up from the beach. They have live Mexican music most days between 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and also in the evenings. It’s just a simple place…done up traditional Mexican style, great food and drinks and a great place in the shade. You’re surrounded by a botanical style large garden and patio area. It’s totally low end, but 100% Mexican charm and you can’t beat the prices.More

What a great way to spend an afternoon. We went with friends to hear the band play. They were outstanding. There was a guest violinist as well as a guest singer.Sipped our drinks and ordered appetizers. Lovely time.

Went to this lovely peaceful bar near the river to get away from the busy malecon. Met with old friends. We had margaritas, light lunch and listened to a very good 4 piece band. Very nice atmosphere.

The food and drinks were pretty good. I was there for the music which was outstanding. Ambiance was rustic. Right on the Rio Cuale. The place was packed with tourists.

Wonderful wait staff…and great food. They have the best bands that play between 1PM and 3PM, and some evenings…no cover charge. It’s casual and pet friendly.

Been in Puerto Vallarta for 12 days and just came across this little treasure of a bar cafe offering different types of music during afternoon’s and evenings. Situated by a stream so advisable to wear insect repellent later in the day if you stop by….We only stopped for drinks on this occasion but saw food being served at tables and it appeared to be okay. Reasonably priced and offer water free. A bit slow on service but it was busy Would definitely return again if in area. Staff pleasant. Toilets clean.More

We sought out this place as a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the beach. We were surprised that the happy hour drinks were limited only to Margaritia’s and quite expensive compared to most places we go on the beach. We were actually…there for breakfast. The food was nicely presented and the quality was alright, although it was served on cold plates….never a good choice for eggs. The service was very good and the host very friendly. The one thing which will stop us from going back was the coffee. It was absolutely the worst we have has in Vallarta. We eat breakfast out every day and are used to having very good coffee at all of the restaurants along the beach.More

It was a rainy week while we visited Puerto Vallarta, so visiting the Malecon was the best choice. This turned out to be a great place to eat lunch. I was taken here by friends who have been visiting this area for over 25 years….Normally there is live music, but because of the rain, it got cancelled on the day I visited. However, it was still a delightful experience. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is great. It is in a great location near all the vendors, and right next to the river. It is also beautiful – i felt as though I was in paradise. The owner has been working hard to make an empty lot into a park next to it. I plan to return here on my next visit to this area, only next time I will bring my husband along.More

From 1-3 every afternoon there is a different musical group each day. Food is very good, service is attentive, sitting streamside is especially delightful. Sometimes music in the evenings too. A great laid-back place to chill on Cuale Island. Reachable from the Romantic Zone by…suspension bridges as well as by walking up the island from the malecon or from the Insurgentes street bridge.More

The afternoon music drew us to the restaurant. The atmosphere will keep us coming back. My wife and I shared a cheeseburger and a beer, and sat comfortably listening to lovely music for more than an hour. The staff never troubled us to order more,…which made us feel calm, so we ordered another beer on general principles. Maybe next time we will lounge in the hammocks the restaurant provides in their shady grove.More

We discovered this little cafe last year and made a beeline for it this year too. Hidden at the back of Isla Cuale, this outdoor cafe bar has good live music with moderately priced drinks and food. The pull for us is it’s shady location…along Rio Cuale and the local performers. It’s a nice place to hide away between morning wanderings and evening dinners.More

We had been looking forward to trying this place and found ourselves here a few times for drinks and snacks and once for dinner. Their guacamole is some of the best in town due to the use of mostly avocados. So many places now are…mixing half tomatoes into it and ruins it for us. Babel Bar makes great guac! Their beers were very cold and reasonably priced, and their service is great. When we were there for dinner, we had the seafood pasta dish and the seafood enchiladas. We do ask for things to be made without butter, cream and cheeses, which most people seem to enjoy, and we ask for things to be spiced up. They were very accommodating, and our meals were excellent. We will definitely be back again.More
