First, you have to go to the bar at the top of the Hotel Cuatro Vientos for the best view, margaritas and guacamole in PV. Then go downstairs and have a lovely dinner at Chez Elena. Service was great, courtyard beautiful and the shrimp Royale…is fabulous. Always a must when we come to PV.More
Amazing! Definitely a must when visiting PV! Everything was excellent; drinks, rooftop view, dinner, atmosphere, music. Very reasonably priced too. Thanks to all the staff! We will return!
On February 19th 2022 we returned to Chez Elena for a birthday celebration. Our visited in 2019 we joined the observation deck packed with over a 100 sunset viewers. Later, we still enjoyed a delicious meal. Visiting again in 2022 we along with four other…patrons enjoyed the sunset over Puerto Vallarta. As covid had reduced the number of patrons we were fretted and taken care of by the head waiter. Our dinner was again equal to Chez Elena’s ongoing standard of excellence. There is no such thing as dine and dash. Each ordered dish is to be savoured and enjoyed. We went to Chaz Elena with family that had been there 35 years ago! It certainly did not disappoint. The food was wonderful but so was the service and atmosphere. Charming is an understatement. If I ever get the opportunity to visit again, I definitely…will!More
We usually visit this ‘resto’ at least once per visit to PV. Went with a family party of seven. Ordered off the menu and NObody was disappointed. All commented on the service, presentation and price (reasonable) as excellent. We will definitely be back before the…winter is over.More
Disappointed. The website advertised two for one specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My husband and I went Tuesday evening and once we were seated we asked if there was a special menu for the specials. The waiter told us no, there was no specials today….Since we were already seated we decided to stay. The food was good but their website is misleading….More
Talk about a hidden gem! Restaurant Chez Elena is located in Hotel Los Cuatros Vientos, one of the oldest hotels in Vallarta. Located on the ground floor, its outdoor and poolside patio dining, amidst plush cascading plants and flowers lends to the romance of this…place, not to mention it truly has world class cuisine. It has been written about in magazines and papers for the last thirty years, and has often been visited by famous personalities. Before dinner, you can visit El Nido, the rooftop bar for drinks and appetizers and watch the sunset over Banderas Bay. The view is incredible. The service is impeccable. I have stayed at the hotel every year for the last ten years, and often meet up with friends that return every year as well. If you’re visiting, don’t miss this place, even if it’s just stopping in for one of their famous Margaritas. But honestly, you won’t want to miss out on dinner at Chez Elena.More
Went for dinner it was windy so we didn’t have a drink on the rooftop patio but, it looked nice. It is up a very steep road so we took an Uber there. There was a special on that night. I had The osso bucco…chez Elena , it was a big meal but I was disappointed as it really had no flavour. My husband had the chicken cordon bleu and enjoyed it. The service was brisk. The special made it very reasonable. I can’t give a five star rating based on my dish.More
The food was just average. We ordered the Friday special Coconut shrimp and had a hard time getting it off of the wooden pick. The shrimp was very small so the breading took over and then fell off. The special came with a glass of…wine that was not at all good. BUT – the music while we ate was very nice and even had a special song by a local gal – Crazy, by Patsy Cline = excellent voice.More
We went there last night. There were 4 of us. 3 ordered the Osso Buco and I ordered the pork medalions with peanut sauce . Our meals arrived within minutes of ordering. All were served with brocolli and carrots. Very disappointing. I can see why…they are offering 2 for 1 meals. Fine dining this is NOT.More

We went to Chez Elena Restaurant and rooftop open air view lounge. We visited Jan 21st 6.15pm, Promotion event, two entrees for the price of one. The rooftop lounge was extremely full. No seating left. The Margaritas had a real powerful kick to them. One…waiter was looking after possibly 75 people, with one bartender. Sooo, service was terribly slow. Waited 20 min to get our drinks, and I went to bar to do my own order with the waiter who was picking up drinks there. Later on when we got to our reserved table downstairs the feeling of complete drunkenness set in. I was stumbling about. I broke my glass. The drinks had been made with something Stronger than Tequila, after researching (a day later) I figured it was a strong alcohol called Raicilla made locally, a type of moonshine over 100% proof. Not Good for the system. I passed out in bed early and slept like a baby till 10 a.am. The restaurant food was palatable, and the service good, as I vaguely remember, I passed out in cab on way back to our residence. I left an expensive shawl in the cab and never got it back. So watch out for the super strong Tequila type drinks, in Puerta Vallarta, it is known by frequent visitors to serve this alcohol at all inclusive resorts and “some” bars near the pier in the Romantic Zone, and at totally random cheaper restaurants. I did not expect it to be served it at a nice old establishment like “Chez Elena” . Maybe it was just because of the 2 for on promotion and they ran out of Tequila. If I go again, I will not go on a special promotion pricing night as it was crazy busy, and there were a few of us tipsy persons about.More
This restaurant was recommended to us by several people who had been and enjoyed themselves. Our experience was less than enjoyable. The waiter could not have cared less if we were there or not. Cutlery was not brought to the table, a takeout box had…to be requested three times, vegetables were cold. They were quite busy so perhaps the waiter was overloaded but I don’t think we will be going back to check.More
The location is lovely–we were able to get an early reservation, choose our table then go upstairs to watch the sunset from the upstairs deck before dinner. After dinner, it’s an easy walk down dozens of stairs, to town, but you’ll need to hold hands!…During dinner the music was perfect, the service attentive. However, we were disappointed with the quality of the food–way too salty & dry fish dish and less-than-fresh shrimp dish. Overall a good experience, but they should improve the food.More
We always arrive early to take advantage of a rooftop cocktail with amazing views. As always, the dinner was amazing and we enjoy the music while eating dinner. Every year we bring friends who have never experienced the amazing place. Also appreciate their dinner promotions.
