Three of us stopped here for snacks and beverages while waiting on a friend. The hostess pulled us in off the street showing us her menu to compare prices with the neighbor. She was quite confident. We had tacos quesadillas guacamole and beverages. We were…all satisfied with the flavour and quantity. The beer was cold. What else do you need?More
A little about us. We are very experienced travelers with numerous trips to our favorite spot Puerto Vallarta. This is the first place we have ever had a negative experience. After being brought into the restaurant by an employee we were immediately seated as there…were only 2 other tables seated. I will layout the problems in sequential order. – The champagne in my Mimosa was flat and had clearly been left out of refrigeration which is why they had ICE in it. Never had ice in a Mimosa before. – First thing in the morning the restaurant was not prepped (our daughter had to leave women’s restroom to get toilet paper from the men’s room). – It took just under 40 mins for the meals to be brought to us after ordering (table of 4) We had just told the owner/ mother that we were leaving and wanted our check when she walked over to the kitchen window and got two of our plates. – The eggs were way over cooked or heated (wife’s plate) the potatos on my plate had a taste of soap as if the pan had not been rinsed thoroughly. – A younger “teen son, employee” arrived and immediatly picked up a glass and took it to the ice cooler (next to the restroom) and immediately began breaking up the ice with his bare hand and placing it into the glass. After filling it with a juice it was served to the customer. -After seeing this we stopped eating – We then saw the female (owner, mother?) rip open a bag of suger with her teeth then pour the contents into varias empty containers by her work station. – Knowing the potential for drama we asked for the check and paid for the meal. -We told the “Owner/mother that we we not happy about the time it took to get our meals and she blamed us for taking too long to order ( our waiting clock started after we ordered) These issues are not about an employee shortage or just not liking the food. It’s obvious that there is a practice in handling food in an unsanitary fashion.More
We were headed to the empanada house but stopped here based on TA reviews. I had a HUGE burrito with rice for 99 & my husb had the 3 tacos for 99 (can pick different ones). It also came with pico de Gallo & HOT…salsa & chips. All for 198mx. We thought this was a good price & the food was very tasty & came out very fast. NO credit card..cash only. Small place-maybe 7 tables..we plan to go back!More
We found this place while looking for another restaurant. We decided to give it a try, and we weren’t disappointed. We both enjoyed our food.
I am so pleased with this “great find” of a restaurant. It looked closed the first time we walked by, glad we checked again on another day. I had “Comida Corrida.” Chile relleno by accident. I always wanted to try it but afraid my stomach…would not like it. She was supposed to bring me fish but made a mistake. The funny part is that after I ordered the fish, I wished that I had ordered the Chile relleno…LOL!! OMG, one of my new favorites!! It was GREAT! To me it had a lasagna type of taste…..I REALLY liked it. Service was very good and very friendly….we will go back!More
We were two adults that ate at this restaurant on March 12, 2020. We have been eyeing this restaurant for a month so we decided to take the plunge at one point. Once we were seated, we were presented with Mexican chips and three different…salsa sauces, once of which was HOT!! Thank God that we had also ordered water!! A nice touch! For starters we both ordered their excellent chicken soup. They should really call it chicken & vegetable soup as there were plenty of veggies. It was delicious & very filling!! A great beginning to the evening! In terms of the main course, I had the daily special, a rib eye steak. It was done as requested and came with rice, shrimps and vegetables. I find that I have a normal appetite but this meal was huge. I did my best but, unfortunately, I only ate about 85%. It was mucho, mucho!! My partner was wiser than me. He went the tacos route. He had the lobster tacos with flour tortillas , served with guacamole on the side. He adored it!! In terms of wine , we ordered a sauvignon white, F. Chauvenet. An excellent choice. No room for dessert! Our waitress, Karina, was a gem! It was she who advised us on the wine list and she was so kind & attentive throughout our dinner. Muchas Gracias, Karina! We have since learned that this is a family run restaurant. What a talented family!! Bravo from Canada!More
This family run resto is a hidden gem in the middle of Olas Altas. Their menu is varied and very Mexican, with delicious Tortilla Soup a meal in itself. Their seafood platter for 2 is way more than 2 people can eat, with one of…the most tender yummy octopus that I’ve eaten. Their burritos are simple, not the cheese laden heart attack that many are used to, but flavorful and filling. Just up from the pier and around the corner from Andale’s, easy to get to. Ambient videos and music are traditional Mexican and add to the homey local atmosphere. Highly recommend!More
We ate here several times— great breakfast and excellent supper specials! One night we had lobster tacos and a drink for 150$ pesos. Another night, we had the dinner special for 249$ pesos— you could choose a full red snapper w/shrimp, Mahi Mahi w/shrimp or…a full rack of ribs w/shrimp. It included veggies and potatoes as well as a cocktail of your choice. The family that owns this restaurant work very hard and offer such a warm welcome to customers! The food and value are unbeatable— this little gem is one of the best in the romantic zone!More
My husband and I went to El buen gusto for dinner on Christmas night. I had an octopus burrito and my husband had a plate of grilled fish tacos. Friendly service, tasty food and reasonable prices are what they ordered.
Authentic and delicious. Hole in the wall and family run with amazing flavors and the prices cannot be beat. It’s not glamorous but it is delicious!
We have been coming to this place for breakfast every year we come to Puerto Vallarta for vacation. We come almost every day during our stay. They have a delicious breakfast special that includes coffee come eggs, toast, potatoes, refried beans and fruit or juice….69 pesos. Nice family run business. Just over one block from the beach. Highly recommend for breakfast.More
Love this place. It is definitely a hidden gem. Great menu at reasonable prices and friendly service.
Step off Olas Altas just a few steps inland to find this little gem. We were walking by heading to one of our regular dinner spots and stopped to read the menu. We are glad we ate here instead. I had the chicken fajitas, my…wife the enchiladas – both very nice. We had two drinks each. Total bill: 408 pesos. Other diners we chatted with mentioned the Veracruz style fish in particular. Head up from the main pier, past Olas Altas and stop by this spot for a tasty inexpensive meal.More
Although this not on a main drag it’s a terrific find. The prices were great, the food amazing. It is a nice quiet little restaurant. I appreciated the quiet! Service was fast & friendly.
We saw this across from hotel and didn’t try till our last night. We had the chicken breast and the cheaper steak cut Definitely was good. And very inexpensive. I highly recommend it. Friendly service.
