View is great. Food is ok.the issue I have is they add a tip which is included in the total. Then at bottom in larger letters and explanation marks: TIP NOTINCLUDED!!!! I told the waitress and she said ‘oh, it’s because… and I simply stated…‘it’s wrong and I won’t be back’. They are scamming their patrons and simply wrong.More

Excellent food and a great view. I ordered the Sea Food Enchiladas with just enough kick. Enjoyed watching whales swim by as we dined. We were a group of 14 all enjoyed their meals as well!

Be very careful of the shrimp. Everyone who ate it became very ill. Thankfully the children with us did not eat it. The mango smoothies were delicious but I won’t be going back.

I went to the El Oceano Restaurant a couple of times on my last trip to Puerto Vallarta. It’s a great place to eat, specially because your table is in front ot the sea at the malecon, where you can admire a great view. The…food and the service was excelent. Ask for Omar, a great waiter.More

Always stop here for Shrimp Mama Chuey/ Bacon wrapped, cheese filled shrimp with a hot blackberry sauce for dipping. Nice side salad with rice. about 14 bucks us. Dollar beers and Margaritas sometimes. The Margaritas have changed and I think a cheaper tequila is being…used. Nice place to watch people on the malecon from the second floor. Always good to see my friend Angel who is one of the waiters.More

This place has a beautiful location and ambiance is nice. We had a group of singers sing to us. The drink service was horribly slow and to order took about 20 minutes. The chips and salsa were terrific. My husband had the catch of the…day and he loved it. I had ordered the NY strip and asked for well done. When I cut into my steak it was not done and was very gritty. We asked for it to be cooked more which they did but when I got it back it was cooked but the inside was white like a pork chop not a steak. So the pork chop that I received was very fatty and not good for me but my husband did finish it. Also they try and sell you tours while you are eating which we didn’t expect!More

I first went to El Oceano in November 2017. It was not my choice but I met a group of colleagues there. The location is lovely and offers as wonderful view of the ocean and Malecon. The margaritas are 17 pesos and that’s how they…get people to come in. The food is on the higher tourist priced side and isn’t worth it. The worst part on the first visit was the very slow and apathetic service. If they were busy the slow service would have been understandable but they had several waiters just standing around. We had a group of about 12 people and the waiter wouldn’t ask each person what they wanted to drink, he would ask one person then leave and come back and ask another. Fast forward to March 2018 and another group of colleagues decided to go to El Oceano. I had put the first bad experience at the back of mind and had hoped that this time would be better, but it was just as bad, if not worse. Drink service was painfully slow, guess they don’t want you to drink too many of their 17 peso margaritas. One of the ladies ordered a shrimp pasta dish and the shrimp were tiny by Vallarta standards. When the check came there was an error and one of my colleagues politely pointed it out to the waiter. Keep in mind that my colleague is Mexican, from Puerto Vallarta, and therefore speaks perfect Spanish. The waiter became enraged and was quite surprised that she spoke Spanish. Perhaps they were padding the bill thinking we were all tourists and when the waiter found out that most of us spoke Spanish and we called his bluff he was quite annoyed and just kept saying “you don’t understand”. No, actually we fully understood that we had been overcharged. I won’t be back and neither will any of the people in our group.More

We had never been here so stopped in a recommendation. We ordered fajitas and quesadillas. While my quesadillas were good, my wife preferred the fajitas at fajita republic much more than here. Overall, meal was ok

We were in Puerto Vallarta recently when our cruise ship stopped here. We went on our own to the Malecon and decided to have lunch. It was just blind good luck that we found El Oceano. The restaurant is upstairs, which affords a beautiful view…of the ocean as well as a wonderful breeze. It’s a little bit hard to spot and we probably wouldn’t have seen if were it not for a man out on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and he had a menu. We both had appetizers, and in retrospect had we known how generous the portions were we would have shared something. I had the mussels and they were probably the best that I have ever had. The broth was outstanding and the dish is served with a delicious bread to sop up all of that yummy broth. My husband had the fried calamari, which was very different from what we normally see in the USA but was very good. Warning, though – the serving is HUGE! It could easily be a whole lunch. Shrimp is wonderful here – any of the shrimp dishes. I had shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon and served with a berry jam type sauce. It was absolutely fantastic. But big! There were six very large shrimp as well as an extremely flavor full rice. My husband had a shrimp dish that was much like a scampi with garlic and lemon. Delicious! Again, there were six large shrimp. The service at El Oceano is impeccable. There is also a guitar player who comes around and will play a request for $2 or $3. Great Mexican beer and, because of the exchange rate, this amazing lunch was a real bargain. Although it was an accidental find we were so happy that we did find it. This was, without a doubt, one of the best meals that we have ever had in Mexico. If we are back in Puerto Vallarta we will definitely return to El Oceano. Don’t miss it if you are visiting Puerto Vallarta!More
