I’m surprised at some of bad reviews because I had a GREAT experience here. I can’t stop thinking about how good the food was… My friend and I stumbled across this vegan buffet for lunch on our last day in PV, but if we had…the option to turn back time we would have eaten here every day. We were greeted by a very kind lady who showed us the ropes. The small restaurant was filled with kind locals who pointed out what each food item was, as it wasn’t labeled. We knew it was a good place when the people in the restaurant said they came here often. And the price can’t be beat ($120 pesos for all you can eat)! Also they make tortillas fresh for you as you need them and bring them to your table (: I’m a new vegan and pretty picky, but this food was genuinely phenomenal and the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had on this trip. As a vegan I didn’t think I would be able to eat much here or get the authentic food experience but this really exceeded my expectations. Come for lunch on an empty stomach with an open heart!More
We went there around 16 h, and by this time half of the already poor selection of cooked options (just about 6 different preparations standardly, of which one was rice, one was pasta, one was corn and one was the typical mexican beans) were empty,…and they were not refilled, because they prepared different foods for dinner. Standardly very poor on cooked vegetables too. Still lots of salads though. The foods taste good, but not extraordinary. The breakfast buffet was very poor – it was basically just cereals and fruits, and chilaquiles.More
Ate here several years ago and it was good. This time, not so much. Not much left in the buffet. The drink was supposed to be pineapple juice, but was mostly water. The most disappointing thing was that most in the restaurant were NOT wearing…face masks, especially those working in the kitchen. Very unsafe. Won’t be going back any time soon. Should be reported for failing to comply with masking rules in this city.More
Any all-veg place automatically gets 3 dots from me. One more for Mary’s having a great variety of items in their buffet (both hot & cold) and a great price. As far as taste, I can’t honestly say any of the items they served amazed…me, (their marinated mushrooms comes closest) but with slim pickings for veg eats in that particular area I would be happy to still recommend this eatery.More
We discovered Mary’s Vegetariano about six years ago when we were vacationing in the area. Since then she has moved to a different location on Honduras and added dinners. The venue is larger, more attractive, and always clean. On every annual trip we try breakfast,…lunch, and dinner – more than once!. The food is fresh, delicious, and different enough to satisfy our vegan palates. Mary always recognizes us (how does she do that?) and immediately points out what is vegan. My favorite word from her: todos! She makes almost everything vegan to satisfy all non-carnivores! There are more options in PV now for vegan fare, but Mary’s remains a favorite! May she continue to feed us year after year!More
Excellent small buffet serving breakfast lunch and dinner. The dinner buffet has cut back the hours for weekdays – last week they closed it before we arrived at 7:00 p.m. but they still made us a very good reasonably priced dinner. Staff are very helpful…but the ones we have dealt with didn’t speak much English and with my limited Spanish it made ordering interesting. Definitely worth a visit – the food is very good.More
I loved this spot! So much value, variety, great friendly staff!!! Fresh juice! The cake was also so yummy and flavourful! They let me charge my phone in the outlet, which was nice also. Really enjoyed our meals, will definitely be back!!! ☺️
Found this place whilst in PV for a week and really enjoyed the whole experience. A great selection of food available, buffet style, eat as much as you like, which also included water or juice and a cake type desert. Very satisfied with our first…visit, so much so, that we went back again two days later and enjoyed a slightly different menu. Would definitely recommend if you are not looking for anything fancy. It is clean and the staff were very friendly.More
Open Mondays to Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at its new location for the past seven months. Closed Sundays. Supper begins at 6 p.m. and features vegetarian hamburgers, among other dishes. At my first visit, I got a very cordial reception by Mary,…the owner. The place is spotlessly clean, from the buffet tables to the dining room and the tables outside under a nice awning. Even the bathroom is well-lit and spotless. All-you-can-eat buffet for 70 pesos – a bargain. A menu of Mexican cuisine choices – but vegetarian. So soy “meats”, Mexican spices – Every bite absolutely delicious. I told Mary I was going to return, and bring friends. Easy access, close to the beach – just off Francisco Medina Street on Honduras Street. No hill. North of the Malécon.More
We’ve come here about 4 times now and each time we have been met with new menu options. Everything has been delicious and for 80 pesos buffet, you cannot go wrong here. They have a sizeable salad bar, quesadillas, soup, and some main entree options….You have to try their stuffed Poblano peppers! Sidebote: They have recently changed locations. On Honduras south of ColombiaMore
The lunch buffet was amazing! They offer filtered water and juices, too! I would definitely go back. *As of right now, their location on google maps is old. They are still on the same street but they’ve moved towards the ocean by half a block.
Wow! Really loved this place. The buffet was fantastic. A great selection and hand made tortillas. What a deal, $80 pesos for the comida buffet.
My best friend and I (both vegan) were thrilled to find Mary’s. We ate breakfast there a few times while in PV. It was fresh and delicious and we had plenty of options. This is a buffet and for breakfast there were things like pancakes,…beans, tortillas, fruit, a variety of soy meat (different each day), tofu scramble, fresh salsa, and fresh coffee. They also had some kind of veggie juice. I think we paid about $5 for two breakfasts which was also amazing. The service was friendly, the location convenient, and they truly understood what vegan meant so no upset tummy from being fed butter, eggs etc. Love this place highly recommend. Also – her daughter opened a veggie taco joint just two blocks away- amazing!!!More
Really, there is more to life than tacos. In Mexico it is a challenge to find fresh vegetables decently prepared. Restaurant Vegetariano Mary is a delightful surprise that more than fills the bill. Up a slight incline in a near obscure location this spacious gem…was not overly crowded during my mid day foray into veggie possibilities. It is at a street corner location in an area of the city less traveled by tourist, ergo I think that I was probably the only foreigner eating there at that time that day. However, I got the impression that many diners were repeat customers. The format is buffet with a few little variations. Toasted tortillas are prepared in mass and quesadillas are available to order from a cook top in the food line. The variety of food available in the hot food line was plentiful, so much so that there were many things that I did not get around to trying. Salad was a number one on my wish list. After making the trek to Mary’s I was initially disappointed to find that there was no green salad available. When this was pointed out, double time pronto the staff had fresh salad back on the table. Yes, there were the beans, tortillas, rice and varieties of salsas, but as well, there were many items I have never seen offered elsewhere. A big hit on my plate were the albondigas. Usually made with meat, these albondigas were fantastic made with the ground seeds of pumpkin and spices. Another serious attention getter was the tempura broccoli and tempura platano macho (big banana). Everything in the buffet was very fresh. There were numerous combinations of vegetables, mushrooms, salads, both green and marinated. I will definitely be back for re-runs as I have been told that the menu changes daily. Also, they offer breakfast so that is another great reason for me to show up even earlier. The unlimited lunch buffet without a beverage costs eighty pesos, as of this writing that is approximately four dollars and forty cents. Breakfast is seventy pesos.More
All we can say about Mary’s Vegetariano/Vegan Restaurant is …. wow. Our vegan almuerzo was fantastic. The flavor and texture of our meal was outstanding. From the meatball soup, deep fried veggies and other vegan dishes, it was fun and tasty. Mary’s is just a…short cobblestone walk up Honduras St on the left. Not the fanciest place on earth. But it is what it is. Clean, simple and tasty ( and inexpensive ) . Must try if your Vegan or Vegitarian. Thanks Mary………….. Lynn and BobMore
