Great location by the beach, reasonable prices and great selection of drinks. My daughter had the fettuccini alfredo (after 5 days of mex food) and I had the fish special! Amazing drinks and food overall – at reasonable prices as compared to some of the…more USA/Can oriented restaurants a little further along 🙂 Overall, definitely recommended – not sure for large groups of over 6. Definitely worth a shot for families, couples and everyone in between!More
Very welcoming bar/restaurant….. all the staff especially Jessie made our trip great especially in the evenings. He likes a laugh and had to put up with us two loons! Great for prices, food, drinks, watching sunsets and overall a great vibe.
Los Abuelos has been a favorite for years. It’s where we go to put our feet in the sand and enjoy a meal. Our favorite choices are the salads, kabobs (brochettas), fajitas, 2×1 drink selections and excellent guacamole. We’ve even had take out pico de…gallo to enjoy in our condo. The service is always friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed meeting Chimmi this year and look forward to next year!More
Just had a wonderful breakfast on the beach here. And they had coffee with real crème!! Highly recommend for a great breakfast in the sand and sun ( if you want – they do have umbrellas????)
Was walking by and good lured in when the gentleman said “large portions”. He wasn’t lying we had shrimp fajitas and chicken fajhitas. So good, so flavorful, juicy, fresh & tender. And large portions…service was super good too
This is the time of COVID. Mexico has one of the highest rates in the world. Why are a constant parade of unmasked musicians standing uninvited over the tables? It is impossible to carry on a conversation without constantly being interrupted by street vendors, many…of whom are unmasked but the singers are the worst! You don’t need to be a virologist to figure out that someone singing over you at the top of their lungs, without a mask, is no good. The food is mediocre at best. I had the Mexican platter. A scoop of rice, two small wedges of quesadillas, a small and very greasy stuffed pepper and the plate was filed out with some lettuce leaves, small piece of tomato and dressing. The service was horrendously slow. Me and my partner almost left. Needless to say, I won’t be back.More
So you’re tired of hanging around in your house watching reruns until ya want to puke. You decide it’s time to get out and grab some lunch. Now most of the Malicon is blocked and forbidden but down towards Los Muertos pier about 100 Meters…north of The Blue Shrimp, and much to our absolute delight, we found that Los Abuelos was open. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! YES. Cervezas on the sand. Toes in the dand. Chicken wings. Ceasar salads. Mixed drinks Tequila and 7 hours of the booming ocean. Pelicans dive bombing the largest schools of fish I’ve ever seen in Bahia de Banderas. More wander in and the food is good and the vibe puts a smile on your face you can’t wipe off . From the greeting staff to the attentive and humorous servers we all just want to get through this and out the other side alive and in the warm embrace of Puerto Vallarta. Thank you Los Abuelos for being there and for good food, laughs, and friendship. We’ll beat this and move on.More
Stopped for a beer and free wi-fi. Right on beach at far end of the promenade at Puerto Vallarta. A little scruffy and basic. OK for a beer but wouldn’t eat there.
I had read reviews about Los Abuelos prior to going on our trip. We just happened to be walking by it when we decided to give it a try. I had read that they offered a family platter and asked about it even before being…led into the seating area. The greeter said they had a family platter and quoted me the price. The platter had lobster, snapper, shrimp, octopus, rice, salad and avocado. It was delicious!! It was four of us (2 teenagers) and seafood lovers that we are we really enjoyed this meal. It was plenty of delicious tasty and fresh seafood. We were stuffed when we left. My husband and I had margaritas with our meal and our kids had lemonades or soft drinks. Our bill was not more than $35 total. Come as you are. Sit with your toes in the sand. Gaze at the ocean and enjoy some delicious food!More
Got pulled in by the staff person in front of the restaurant – 2 margaritas for 1 & too early for most Happy Hour places. And we were a little hungry… so 2 skinny margaritas – ended going for a 2nd ground as they were…excellent. Fresh lime instead of some watered down sweet mix ;(, nice amount of tequila. We ordered a Shrimp Fajita to share for the 2 of us. We were warned about the Mexican minute, but not deterred at all after all we are in Mexico and on vacation! The view right on the beach was awesome! delicious, fresh chips and 2 types of salsa as my friend does not like any heat & I do. Plenty for both of us, fresh and very nice. The shrimp fajita came with rice, beans, guacamole, typical sautéed verges, tortillas and again, a very generous portion of shrimp and everything else. It was sizzling hot and delicious! Almost 1/2 the price of the ‘nicer’ place nearby. We love to support the hard working family businesses and this one is among the originals, been there as a family owned place for around 43 yrs. will definitely go back again and definitely get the skinny margaritas – the server called them ‘sour skinny margaritas’. Will also try something else – or maybe get the same again.More
this place is unassuming but once you walk in its a nice little place right on the beach where you can eat under cover or on the beach under an umbrella- good food – we had fajitas and 3 cheese pasta and enjoyed them both.
We loved eating here, one of our favorite places in PV, until we found that the owner started adding additional charges on our bill, also the two for one happy hour are a rip off. You can drink 10 and not get a “buzz”!
Everything was bad. We went for dinner and ended up drinking our drinks and had an appetizer and left. The appetizer was fish cerveche…worse cerveche I have ever had. We ordered Margaritas with premium tequila, when they arrived, there was no way that it was…premium, and the tequila that was in there, was very little. We questioned the waiter about them and he took them back and returned with drinks they tasted the same. The tables are a mess. There is no organization as to how the place looks. If you look next door to the restaurant, and I don’t know what it is called, it looked like how a restaurant is suppose to look. We were sorry we didn’t go there. We are here for 4-months….no more Los Abuelos for us.More
Beach seating is the only appeal . Food only ok. Service was not great, Mediocre at best. Vendors selling everything from cigars, jewelry to food came right up to the table. Surprising to be offered food as I was sitting eating dinner. We considered leaving…or only ordering drinks but others were hungry. I will not return and would not recommend.More
Visit here every trip. We had chicken quesadillas and the three cheese pasta Very reasonably priced and we left full Very good service also.
