We asked our Uber driver to take us to the best Taco place in town and invited him to have lunch with us. He took us to Tacos el Machin. The Birra taco’s and Camarones tacos were outstanding. Something I can’t get in Portland, even…though we have tons of taco trucks. It took quite a while to get our food, but it was well worth the wait. Cheap too. We had him order extra to take to his wife and daughter. He spoke great English and told us several places to go in the area. The next day he took us to Sayulita for an awesome day trip. From now on, I’m going to make it a habit to invite my Uber driver to lunch. His name is Noe if you need a driver in town. His number is +52 322 127 6863More

We went there for lunch, because a person who showed us an apartment close by told us his family owned it. Weeks later we’re walking along the highway and decide to stop in and try it. We were pleasantly surprised. Our service was quick, and…polite. The food is priced very well, great condiments, and the small restaurant was very clean. I had the birria taco and the pastor fish taco (dorado), and my wife had a steak taco and a pastor shrimp taco. They came with cilantro and onions, double tortilla, good-sized. And there’s a chipotle sauce to add that’s wonderful. One of the condiments was marinated onions, in some kind of red sauce. They were a wonderful addition to the blast of flavors we were already tasting. I only had two tacos, we ate around 1:30. I did not eat dinner that evening. There was much more on the menu…Burritos, Tostados, Quesadillas, etc. I recommend, if you’re in the Hotel Zone, give it a try. It’s almost next to Blake’s.More

Great authentic Mexican food. A special Mexican soup… authentic tacos (no Tex-Mex here). Unbelievable cheap prices. Noise level is moderate in the back garden dining area. Good service. Go!

One of three locations, the Tacos at this street corner location are flavorful, and have access to a variety of fresh toppings and sauces. Proprietor Chiri is the best!

A few tables outside and some inside but very small. This is a great little place for sure. Battered shrimp tacos, yummy and cold beer-EH? We had some chicken tacos too. Banos very clean but–the mens has no toilet seat–Hmm. The food is good and…the beer is cold and the price—very cheap.More

Fun little spot for very tasty fish and shrimp tacos. Very inexpensive (in USD terms at 20:1 exchange rate). You’ll need to speak a bit of spanish to communicate. On the drive in, we were wondering how we were going to get a taxi back home….But there were taxis waiting across the street.More

We were there twice during our stay. Staff were very friendly and patient with us since we don’t know any Spanish. Food was absolutely amazing.

The food was great! The service was a little bit slow (which I found to be common sometimes in Puerto Vallarta) but the food was worth the wait. The fish tacos and the Marlin burrito were great!

If you want real street tacos (which are generally MUCH better than any taco you get in a regular restaurant and for only a fraction of the price) go to Colonia La Aurora… it has more taco stands than anywhere in town, and each of…them is pretty good. If you want good fish or shrimp tacos (breaded tempura style or grilled, or seasoned al pastor style) El Machin is where you want to go! Very good birria also, which is shredded beef in a dark reddish brown, spicy broth, makes delicious tacos. They expanded to where they now have an indoor restaurant with patio and also still have the original taco stand, catercorner from each other. Clean, friendly and relatively fast service, and your waiter will call you Machin. Economical. On Wednesdays, if you buy two tacos you get a third one free! You can get here from downtown by taking any of the buses that say La Aurora but get off the bus right after it passes the church in the middle of La Aurora before it makes a right turn to go toward Villas del Puerto. Walk toward Avenida Politecnico until you see the Oxxo convenience store on the left. On your right you will see the El Machin taco stand. Or – take any bus to Walmart-Sam’s Club and get a taxi from there to take you to El Machin in La Aurora- A bus ride across town costs 7.5 pesos and the taxi from Sam’s will only cost you 40 pesos. However you get to El Machin, it is well worth traveling, but they close at 5 PM so this is better for lunch hours or an early dinner. 2 to 4 PM will be busiest at the stand and restaurant because that is the traditional hour for the main meal of the day in Mexico. If you arrive too late and don’t mind eating beef or pork tacos, head to Las Marineras stand – the ladies there cooking wear sailor’s caps. Pretty good adobada, carne asada, arrieros, etc. Or, two stands away try the tacos de lengua (tongue) which are another of my favorites. Try the refreshing “agua” (non-carbonated soft drinks made with fruit, flowers or rice) at any stand – usually there is agua de jamaica (hibiscus) or guayaba (guava) or piña (pineapple) or horchata (rice.)More

Shrimp al pastor is to die for! 5 tacos for under 100p. Worth paying that much for the taxi to and from haha! Super clean and as soon as we came up they pulled somebody from a restaurant behind to greet us and explain everything…in English. Great service, very clean and just super delicious.More
