How does one manage to screw up oatmeal? They do it by throwing oatmeal on a plate and microwaving it. We had a horrible breakfast with slow and disjointed service (half the food didn’t arrive until we asked twice). The coffee is watered down, and…there are no good options for vegan (oatmeal and fruit is all you’ll find for breakfast). The only nice thing is the view.More

For over 25 years my husband and I visit beautiful Puerto Vallarta. Each visit “home” gets longer and longer as we meet new friends, discover new adventures, bask in the warmth of never ending sun, ocean and mountainous views and food;) Yes, food. Puerto Vallarta…plays host to some of restaurant’s finest cuisines. We would like to share this years favorite picks which include fine dining, casually elegant and local Mexican delights. All different, all amazing. One of our dining favorites is Inizio Restaurant located at Club Regina in Marina Vallarta. Inizio has indoor and outdoor seating but you absolutely don’t want to miss the stunning ocean views, and the palm tree silhouettes as the sun sets to say good night. Dan is the Food Manager and your most excellent Dining Hosts are Lalo, Jorge, Gerardo. These Hosts put the “experience” in creating dining at its best. They anticipate your needs. Your beverage is always filled and your service is timely. They are very knowledgable with wine selections or specialty cocktails and beverages. They will help you pair what you like with your entres. If something new and interesting is on the menu they let us know so we try new tastes and selections. If you have special needs or wishes like Table Side dining, service for groups or special occasions to be celebrated, we just tell Lalo or Jorge and there are no worries as everything is done to perfection. On Tuesdays, they have a special menu including lamb, lobster, beef filet, mahi mahi, salmon and many more delectable dishes. Who creates these wonderful entres? Your chefs are Lino, Oscar and Eric. Make sure you ask about their amazing deserts! Call ahead to confirm your reservation. Inizio and Club Regina also offer Special Event Services, such as weddings and celebrations. Julia is the Event Planner who will help you create the perfect experience. Your event hosts include Gerardo, Iris, Hector, Arturo, Alberto, Victor and Daniel who keep your guests happy and satisfied. Noroc is a new shining star in the restaurant world of Puerto Vallarta. It is located in Old Town on the ocean. The restaurant format is unique, showcasing cushioned semicircular open seating with walkways for performing artists. Pretty cool. At dusk strings of lights provide a feeling of elegance. Chefs Arturo and Christian have created an international menu that is exceptional and delightfully different than the usual fare. David is the Manager that coordinates and insures an experience you will want to come back to. Captain Jorge Ricardo will guide you to your special seating and assist you with recommendations or questions. A welcome specialty libation is a delightful way to start your night. Our personal waiter that night was Damian, who was very patient with us ”first time”….but not the last time, patrons. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. Be sure to make reservations at Noroc, 322 278 8929. La Capella is the ”Sistine Chapel” of fine dining. It is adorned with painted renderings of saints and angels in gilded alcoves that bring peace to your heart. It helps that it is located adjacent to Puerto Vallarta’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, whose bells ring to remind you that all is well. As you gaze over the landscape you can look over all of Puerto Vallarta and view the sun as it slips into the ocean with its blazing rays. The cuisine is Italian, featuring lamb, grilled salmon with a citrine sauce, beef fillet and hand made Italian specialties. Luis and Jonathan who generally “put up” with our table, give us great care to insure that wine is poured, Caprese salad is delivered and our entre is soon to arrive. They make it look easy, but I know it is not. All the wait staff are very professional and take great care in getting to know you. La Capella takes dining to a whole new level with the serenades of three violinists. Their music envelops the beautiful lilts of your favorite songs around you as their gift to you. Simply amazing. You must have a reservation and there is no one better than Regina, who can take care of you. Disfruta la vida! Señora Prime in Marina Vallarta is an upscale haven that features the best “melt in your mouth, can’t stop eating” steaks in all of Puerto Vallarta. A variety of beef cuts are brought table side for you to choose from fillets, ribeye cuts to Cowboy steaks. For non-steak lovers, don’t worry, as there many wonderful alternatives such as is salmon, seafood and vegan. Steaks are served on a sizzling hot plate. We like to order “rare” to sear on our hot plate until they are just the way we want. Your entres are accompanied by a choice of savory sides. Part of the fun are the wait staff as they don’t just deliver amazing food, they engage with you and make it a personal experience. You can bet your life they will remember your cocktail, your favorite steak and how you want it served the next time you visit! Our waiters last week were Eric and Miguel, who were great. But truth be told, all the wait staff are wonderful and feel like family. The ambiance is very upbeat as it features video clips of music from the 80s to the latest. It is never too loud and brings back many fun memories. Yes, you need a reservation as Señora Prime is the place to be! (The OPEN TABLE app is a great place to make your reservations on line:) Chappys Sports Bar and Restaurant, located in the Marina on the water, is a great place to watch your favorite sports on the many surrounding TVs, with your favorite ice cold cerveza, (NFL), and a glass of wine..or two depending on “overtime”. Chappy’s menu includes a large variety of appetizers, Mexican dishes, (the shrimp tacos were the BEST I have ever eaten!) sandwiches, dinners and of course, pizza! Our favorite is the Extreme Pizza. It is covered with shrimp, the best meats, onions and hot cheese. Definitely a gourmet pizza;) The staff is quick to take great care of you and are just really, really nice people. They include Chewy, David, Pablo, Luz, Monica, Rosy, Kathie, Enrique and Luisa. They’re the best:) Chappys Sports Bar is a very welcoming atmosphere. We had the privilege to get to know some wonderful people, who we are honored to call friends. If you are in the marina, you just have to stop in at Chappys Sports Bar…it is the law! El Barracuda is casual dining at its best. There are several locations from Centro to Nuevo and up the northern coast. Our favorite ones to visit are El Barracuda in Nuevo Vallarta and Punta Mita. Igor manages these successful restaurants with menu entres that are both local and international favorites. Ceviches, seafood tacos, surf and turf combinations, ribs and seafood mercadito style. When friends visit us they insist on going to El Barracuda several times as they can’t get enough of the grilled and raw oysters. My husband is literally “hooked” on the oysters and the tuna poke. What makes El Barracuda our “second home” is the staff. Simi, Miguel, Edgar and Ray generally take care of our table, but everyone works together and they make everything fun. Dinner at El Barracuda is like dining with friends. A night well spent. El Barracuda frequently plays host to a very talented magician. His name is Mauricio Andrade. I have seen many magicians before but Mauricio is astonishing. He can be on the opposite end of a table and make things materialize in a pocket six feet away without ever coming near the person?! I am going to talk to him about materializing $$ in my checking account….well, it was a thought. He is available to work his magic at 52 (322)2739161. Vina & Salvatore’s Wine Bar is a refreshing and innovative new restaurant located on the water inside the Marina. It is more than a restaurant as it features over 400 wine selections available to us dedicated wine lovers. I cannot think of anyone who knows more about wine excellence than Salvatore. His knowledge and recommendations are always on the money. Vina & Salvatore’s Wine Bar offer wine tasting presentations for groups that want to learn and taste new vintages…its the best and most delicious way to learn! Vina & Salvatore’s Wine bar can also boast of menu of hand made paninis, fresh salads and carpaccio selectionsMore

We stayed at the Westin and stumbled on this restaurant as we walked along the beach. Outside seating on the beach at sunset is spectacular. Service was good and friendly. Flank Steak Fajitas among the best we’ve had.

This review is actual for the Tenampa restaurant at the Regina. They say it’s closed but it’s not. It’s the pool bar and restaurant located next to the pool. They provided service to pool area and beach. First thing I want to acknowledge is all…the hard working waiters and waitress working that area. They go 90 miles an hour from 12-6. Happy Hour 5-6. We ate most of our day meals there. The evenings we would have to go the Marina since the restaurant hours had been cutback due to the lockdown. Almost everything we had was really good except the pizza. More about that later. We tried just about everything on the menu. Our favorites the shrimp tacos, guacamole, fish fingers, fries. They have a special day for 2 for one pizzas. Really bad…overcooked, burnt and dried out. It was the only bad thing we got all week. We spent a month in PV at four different resorts. The food at the Regina was definitely the best of all the resorts.More

I have been to PV and stayed at the Regina many times and have always been a fan of this restaurant. This time around (haven’t been here for 4 years) I found the food to be terrible- to the point where I left physically nauseous…twice…– once for dinner and the other for breakfast. I don’t think this restaurant gets enough traffic for them to source quality ingredients. If you don’t feel like going to the Marina for dinner, I’d recommend heading to the Westin.More

Too many problems with this restaurant and waiter to list. I hate to say it, but it sucked this time. I was former waiter at a steak house at a ski resort in Brianhead, UT. I know about tips, and how important they are. I…had a steak at Inizios here in PV about 3 years ago and it was excellent. I went back tonight and nearly everything was terrible, except the ice water! I left a 5% tip. I normally tip 20%, or more.More

This is an excellent upscale restaurant at a resort with a beautiful view out to the west, sunsets on the ocean. The food is excellent except for the Friday night buffet which is fair to good. Other times, mornings and nights we dined here was…excellent! The head chef came out to the tables and talked with guests. There was a bit of adventure when the portable chef/grill came to our table and cooked the meat at table side, flamboyant preparation and the food tasted great. The service is impeccable and they are extremely good at handling families with children in addition to couples. This is one of the best restaurants we have enjoyed at a resort type location. I would highly recommend it to anyone.More

On our last night, staying at the Club Regina, we had dinner at Inizio. I wish we had visited numerous times before. We ate in many really upscale restaurants this trip, and Inizio easily compared with the best. We both had shrimp dishes, one flambéd…in Mezcal, the other with shrimp delicately wrapped in phyllo. Our table side chef Alan Petrovich was so helpful in teaching us how to prepare this dish at home. The service was excellent and the sunset view perfection. We will make this restaurant a regular part of our dinner plans going forward.More

When we arrived at Club Regina we hustled to catch the last 5min. Of Happy Hour next to Inizio. The evening was so perfect and all the food we saw arriving at peoples table looked and smelled wonderful. When I saw the rack of Lamb…cooked at a table we got a table on the patio overlooking the water. Everyone’s meals looked amazing. Many were cooked at the tables. My rack of lamb was excellent. My husband loved his Fajitas. Service was great. We will definitely be back before heading home.More

So, where to begin with this beautifully located, frustratingly poor restaurant? With the entree they forgot to bring despite going over our choices with the waiter twice? With a cream sauce pasta that was supposed to be wine sauce? With a stringy, fatty rib eye?…The steak fajitas were well done, and the view is gorgeous, but I wouldn’t make the trip. Even if it’s in your hotel.More

OK, you would only eat here if you are staying at Raintree Vacation Club, as it is not even easy to find there. But they do a very good buffet breakfast, with an excellent omelet bar. The fruit is beautiful and tasty. The pastries are…of a good variety and excellent. The entrees and sides are well prepared. The service is good and the ambiance, on the terrace, is quite nice. We ate there for dinner once and it is also OK, if not exactly up to the standards of PV’s best.More
